Chapter 37: Goodbye Old, Hello New (Enemies)

Samantha took the next day off from work at the bakery to both nurse her somewhat swollen face and shaking heart.
Despite all that, she had gone over with Tobias, and the way they seemed to come to a somewhat understanding that this was her life now, Samantha still felt troubled by something.
It was that thing Mark said about her having powerful enemies. Who did he mean? Was he talking about Richard?
Samantha shook her head at the thought. Surely, if Richard wanted to hurt her, he had already done enough.
“Earth to Samantha,” Holly’s voice broke her from her train of thought and Samantha smiled and greeted the woman as she watched Holly slide into the seat opposite her.
She sent Holly the message that previous night that she wanted to speak to her. She thought her friend had a right to know that Mark had been watching her and keeping tabs on her, despite how uncomfortable it may make her friend.
