Chapter 34

Mark sat on the bed's edge, a smug smile playing on his lips as he observed the peaceful slumber of the girls. Turning his attention to his phone, he saw the movie points earned – a total of 66 for rescuing survivors and taking down over a dozen vampires in town.

His original two points from the previous world went into upgrading his teleportation tattoo on the first night. This upgrade enabled him to mark females without an intimate relationship. With one more point on the way for completing the plot, he felt accomplished.

"So how do I do this? I'll grab the free vampire physique and then shell out points to ditch the negative perks?" Mark's thoughts silently flowed to his phone.

"Yeah, it's that straightforward." His phone's response appeared on the screen.

Seeking more clarity, Mark delved further. "Whose vampire physique am I getting? Marlow's? He's the top vampire, right?"

His phone clarified, "There's no Marlow's vampire physique. It's just vampire physique. In your case, after getting that, your physique will be upgraded to the next rank. Besides, Lilith is the real powerhouse in this world – the queen, the progenitor. Their strength isn't a photocopy in their blood; it's about age. The longer they've been around, the stronger they get."

Adding an important note, the phone explained, "This kind of upgrade only works because they're vampires. Easy to catch their abilities – just get infected. Or in worlds with a clear way to get superpowers. Others? Nope. You need a lot of points. Want a Kryptonian physique? Head to their world, observe them, pay their steep fee, and you're good. Unless they're a lady, and ahem. You'll need to 'fight' her in bed. Just 1 point if you manage that. You know the drill."

Almost as an afterthought, the phone concluded, "Oh, almost forgot. You can't buy anything lower rank than what you've got. You can't stack lower-rank abilities to make them higher rank. Keep that in mind when you eventually find out about it, so you don't go complaining when the time comes."

After absorbing all that information, Mark decided to enhance himself with the vampire physique. Sensations crawled through his bloodstream, a chill spreading across his body. His muscles spasmed, feeling a cold sweat on his brow.

If he could still feel pain, he figured it should be agonizing. Sweat cascaded down like a waterfall, and he shuddered, his breath thickening. Another shudder followed, and his fingernails extended to sharp points. Checking his reflection on the phone, Mark examined himself through the front camera. He noticed his pupils widening, turning larger and blacker. Grinning at his razor-sharp teeth, he felt amused at the transformation. "Not bad. Still looking handsome." He decided to keep that feature, when he felt like it, he can transform back to that state.

A whiff of the girls' scent on the bed caught his attention. Turning towards them, his eyes fixated on their necks, inviting and pulsating with the flow of blood. Despite the intoxicating smell, he resisted the temptation, struggling against the allure. He turned away, closed his eyes, and began removing the negative perks of his enhancement. After a while, he returned to normal.

Clenching and unclenching his fists, he felt his newfound strength, confident that he could take on Marlow's now without resorting to tricks.

Mark checked his personal stats:

After finishing checking his stats, Mark contemplated testing his newfound strength. He moved closer to the girls and planted gentle kisses on each of them before directing his attention to Stella's full lips. He admired their natural pout and gently caressed them with his thumb, attempting to stir her awake for a morning exercise. The girls didn't stand a chance.

Another week passed, bringing about some events. Eben and the others successfully repaired the communication and power lines, reaching out to authorities. Unfortunately, unfavorable weather continued to prevent their access to the town.

While circling the town with a megaphone, Eben and Billy also discovered additional survivors hiding in their homes.

The residents who had sought refuge in the utilidor returned home after Eben and Billy repeatedly confirmed that the vampires were gone.

The survivors helped each other rebuild their houses.

Following that, the grieving began, with townsfolk who lost loved ones and friends burying their remains. Mark, along with Stella, Kirsten, and Denise, also attended the simple funeral. The girls were filled with sadness, having known those who had passed.

Mark watched in silence, feeling a bit out of place in the somber atmosphere. The sight of townsfolk crying their hearts out added a layer of heaviness to the scene, and Mark found it somewhat disheartening. He has a soft spot for ladies who are crying.

Outside town, Mark released the female vampires he had held in the bus. They hissed at him in defiance, but a grin in his vampire form stopped them. The female residents who were turned looked famished. They'll have to wait until he finds them suitable prey or hospital blood. He checked them one by one and nodded when he saw their wounds were already healed.

Then, he turned his attention to those from Marlow's brood: Iris, the little girl, the brunette, the blonde, and the redhead.

"So, this is how it's going to happen. You're going to lead me to your queen, and I'm going to 'persuade' her to stop attacking remote towns." They looked unsure. Iris spoke in her vampire language, leaving Mark puzzled.

"Can you speak English?" he asked. They looked like they understood English, though. She tried, speaking in broken English.

"She said the queen will not be happy knowing Marlow was killed by you," the little girl translated. Mark thanked her, patted her head, and shooed her away as she sniffed him like a curious dog. Having purchased the vampire language, Mark found it less of a hassle to communicate with these 'traditional' vampires. He tried speaking in it, looking directly at Iris.

{So how do you get back to your lair?} Mark asked her. 'I don't like the sound of it, very guttural. But it's good for pretending, I guess.'

They looked surprised when he spoke their language. Iris responded. {Through a large ship. It is anchored a distance from here.}

Mark continued asking questions, and together, they made their way through the snow towards the distant ship.

(AN: D for regular or average human, C+ for peak. MC is too overpowered for C+. Vampires in this world should be faster and stronger than him. XD I placed Marlow in B-.)
