Chapter 1Prologue 1

[I have been receiving a lot of comments saying the prologue makes things confusing. Although I would love to rewrite it, the chapters of the novel will be messed up, sorry for this blunder, I will do better.]

On Planet Crenos, In between two mountains was where the Shepherd family stayed. The shepherd family wasn't very rich. They were always looked at as a humble and elegant farmer family. They were only strong enough to protect their land.

A small tributary trickled down the mountain's side that provided the secluded shepherd family with water. Elder Jeston was going for a walk along the water when he heard sobbing coming from some of the shrubs along the tributary. He looked at the bush the noise was coming from and walked over cautiously.

He wondered if it was some kind of trap that a beast monster that managed to get through the families defences had set trying to lure him into a trap. But beasts weren't so resourceful. He slowly crept toward the bush and quickly moved it away.

His heart fell but not out of fright. He was relieved it was just his kinfolk crying in a fetal position. After looking at the boy for injuries the little boy finally noticed his presence "Little Jack, What's wrong?"

"U....uncle we're stronger than the Maynard Family right?" asked little Jack. Elder Jeston was surprised by the little lad's question.

"Little Jack, I don't get what you mean," Jeston replied, Somewhat perplexed by the question.

The sobbing Jack wiped the snot off his nose and repeated "B-Brandon said that we weren't strong and that his family was the strongest family. I-I told him that just because his family isn't segan doesn't mean it's stronger than us."

Little Jack was hyperventilating through his sentence and barely talked straight, Jeston got some of what he was trying to say though. "Did Brandon say that our family was weak?" he asked.

Little Jack nodded "He said I couldn't play because our family wasn't segan and I wasn't strong enough to play with the rest of them". Jeston sighed, he knew it was more than kids quarrel "Little Jack, do you want to know why our family isn't segan?"

Little Jack was all ears after Elder Jeston said this and he quickly gave all his attention.

Elder Jeston looked around and whispered into Little Jack's ear.

"I'll tell you after we get back, home. We can't have anyone hearing our secrets."

"Your lying! There is no secret, is there?" Little Jack protested. He felt it was all just a ploy to get him to get home".

"No Little Jack, We really can't talk here. If I'm lying I curse myself to an eternity in hell " Elder Jeston proclaimed. It wasn't something to lightly curse yourself after death. Even though Little Jack never understood what some of the words meant, he decided to follow him.

They finally reached back to the family home that looked more like an old farmer village with everything in close proximity. Everyone there was a part of the Shepherd family and they were all farmers.

In the corner of the village, there was a building that was larger than the rest. It was made of concrete and went 2 stories up. This was the main building of the shepherd family where the Elders like Jeston had their meetings.

"What are we doing at the main building," asked Little Jack.

Children like Little Jack were not allowed to wander close to the Main building. So being here now he was curious why the elder brought him here.

"Just wait and see" Jeston smiled as he walked with Little Jack inside. They walked into the Main building and Jeston brought Little Jack to a room that was normally inaccessible to the normal person.

Elder Jesto walked toward a door. He carried out a secret code that made the door slide open.

Jack was concerned, still, he trusted Elder Jeston.

Jeston took him by the hand and walked inside, Inside the room was pitch black and filled with darkness.

"Elder Jeston! Where are you, I'm scared" Little Jack shouted as he flailed his arms through the darkness. "Stop panicking boy, you asked a question and you're getting an answer" Jeston shouted.

Little jack finally stop flailing around. He found it easier to bear with the darkness of his closed eyes. Through his eyes lids, he could see some faint light through his eyelids.

"Is it Elder Jeston?" Little Jack thought, then he finally opened his eyes.

Little Jack looked around and saw little white light around him. It looked like space it was dark and beautiful. The little shimmering white lights.

"Is this the night, Elder Jeston?" Little Jacked asked with excitement as he looked all around him at the beautiful stars. Elder Jeston finally came out from his hiding place and took a seat in the space around him.

"Sit down little one" Little Jack felt a strange force push him down and he sat.

Elder Jeston looked at the boys curious "Let us talk about an Old family legend" he paused then explained "Our family ancestors have left this room for use for centuries.

On Planet Crenos, our shepherd family has been waiting for a prophecy left to us by our ancestors. In fact, it was said to be a prediction based on these stars"

"The stars?" Little jack asked perplexed.

Elder Jeston expression didn't change "It is said that our ancestors had the ability to read the stars. Although it was more than that, they were able to see the future through the stars.

They were the ones that left this room behind." he turned pointed to the stars and said, "We aren't able to sense what are in these stars, but it means that there will be a genius born in the family and only then we will the shepherd family rise in power and claim a position as a segan family."

"Although I'm not sure why our ancestors were adamant on waiting for the genius to be birthed, to rise in power. But if they are able to make a room like this then it's better we trust them than make decisions on our own"

"So I have to wait for who knows how long for some kid to be born from the family before we can claim a seat as a segan family ?" Little Jack shouted annoyed.

Elder Jeston felt his grief "Little Jack, showing you this room was a crime in and of itself, but you should know the truth. The shepherd family wasn't weak. Our family is born with pure genes and we are able to evolve then easily, but we should trust our ancestors."

"This is foolish! Why should I listen to some people that existed who knows how long ago?"Little Jack was angered "I want to leave! I don't want to be here anymore" Little Jack banged his fist on an invisible wall and Elder Jeston allowed him to leave.

Intergalactic conquest with an AI

Rex was just another slave in the corporate machine, a faceless office worker under the shadow of one of the galaxy's powerful megacorps. His life was predictable and dull, an endless cycle of meaningless reports and fluorescent-lit monotony. That was, until that day.... When a new world was discovered on the outskirts of the galaxy, Rex, like countless other low-ranking employees, found himself dragged into a contract clause he’d barely skimmed years ago. The megacorp ordered him and his coworkers to pack their lives into a transport pod and leave for the unexplored planet. Their mission? Establish a colony. Mine resources. Make the company richer. There was no choice, refusing meant ruin. At first, everything seemed manageable. The days were grueling, the nights cold, but progress was steady. The colony was coming to life. Until the excavation team struck something. No one knew what it was at first, a buried hive, a forgotten ecosystem, or something ancient and dangerous. Whatever it was, it unleashed hell. Swarms of enormous, chittering creatures erupted from the ground, their jagged bodies blotting out the sky. The colony fell into chaos. Screams echoed through the air as the bugs tore through everything in their path, walls, machines, and people. Rex barely survived. Bloodied, broken, and pinned beneath the rubble, he should have died there. But in the pitch-black silence of his fading consciousness, a voice spoke to him. Cold. Mechanical. Otherworldly. "Do you wish to live?" When Rex woke, he was no longer the man he’d been. His body was no longer human flesh and bone but something far more alien. His skin shimmered with living metal, his mind infused with the power of Cleo, a mysterious AI from a long-extinct, robotic race known as the Kaelzars. Cleo’s presence pulsed through his thoughts, guiding him and transforming him. He wasn’t just alive. He was reborn. But survival came at a price. Rex was no longer a pawn of the megacorp; he was something more dangerous, something they couldn’t control. As Cleo’s intentions began to reveal themselves, Rex found himself standing on the precipice of war, not just with the bugs but with forces far greater than he could have imagined. This was the beginning of a journey through blood-soaked battlefields and treacherous alliances. Along the way, Rex would encounter allies, brilliant, flawed, and unpredictable, and enemies whose ambitions were as sharp as their blades. These weren’t disposable foes, easily crushed by an overpowered hero. They were cunning, relentless, and human in the most terrifying ways. But then again, in war, who can truly be called a villain?
