City entry

Glitch shook his head and stopped thinking about the slaves. There was no point in building any plans when he did not even enter the city.

At that moment, he heard a notification.

Ding!

[+2 essence given to you.]

[Warning! You can only store 10 essences without the essence storage.

(Note: Ruler will get essence storage at level 10.)]

He had already spent one day inside the game world with little to no progress. This was the big problem with traveling. You had to waste so much time moving around doing nothing. He stopped lamenting, and he focused on the essence.

He only left four more game days to build the essence storage. If he failed, then from that day on, he would stop getting any essence.

The only good thing was that he did not have to build it like other things in Space Village. All the rulers would get the pre-built storage that would link to them.

Every time he would earn some essence, it would get stored in this special container. Now getting storage was easy, but the big problem was the storage's massive size.

It was too big to be carried by an individual and usually needed a carriage for transportation. This was one more headache that he had to deal with while traveling.

He got up as the adventurer came back with two shiny silver plates in his hand.

The adventurer handed him one plate and said, "Follow me."

He examined the permit, but it was hard to determine if this was real or a copy. It was just a thin metal plate with the Rown Kingdom symbol of two swords crossing each other.

He placed the extra permit in his pocket and started moving behind the guys toward the gate with one permit in his hand.

As they were walking, many other adventurers casually moved around, surrounding him while pretending they were busy talking among themselves.

He raised his eyebrows to see them going so far to surround him like that, but not caring, he focused on the gate.

Except for the long wagon queues, there were small queues for individual entry on the left side of the gate.

All of them split into two queues and walked through a small gate on the side where two guards were checking the permits, one for each row.

He saw them placing a black stamp on the basic brown permits. All the surrounding adventurers had these basic permits with them.

As he continued to move forward, suddenly, the guard on the left pulled out his sword while two more guards rushed forward with spears in their hands. They surrounded a couple standing side by side in both rows.

Before the couple could react, the closest guard placed his sword on the man's neck and shouted, "Hands up, on your knees!"

The woman next to the guy tried to shout, "What happened? Do you know who we are? You-"

Before she could finish shouting more, one guard attacked behind her neck, making her lose consciousness as she plopped on the dusty road.

The guards had no sympathy, as they did the same with the man, and then one guard dragged them away from the crowd. It was a swift process, and the guards once again started checking the permits of others like nothing happened.

Everyone in the queue started buzzing about this.

Glitch gulped as he heard the couple had fake permits with them.

He glanced at the other adventurer standing in the second line parallel to his, in tension.

He did not want to die or get imprisoned here. The adventurer just blinked at him while smiling with a calm face. He did not know this eye language, but at least he was sure that they wouldn't create a problem for him before he paid them.

Soon it was Glitch's turn. The guard asked in a deep voice, "Permit?"

Not showing any nervousness, he showed them his silver mid-permit with his hand full of sweat.

The guard snatched the permit from his hand, and he saw his permit start shining with a faint blue light for a few seconds. The guard looked him up and down, making him more nervous, but he still looked back into the guard's eyes with a fake smile plastered on his face, showing the utmost confidence.

Finally, the guard placed the card back in his hand and asked in a low voice, "Sir, I see you have a new card with no markings. This must be your first time, right?"

Glitch decided to go with the flow and nodded his head. "Yeah."

The guard pointed to his card. "There's a new rule added to the silver permit. Now you can add wagon permits to your permit card. Do you want to add it?"

He took some time and asked with a troubled face, "Do I need to pay extra for the wagon permit?"

The guard shook his head. "No, but with the silver wagon permit, you need to pay a gate fee every time you enter with a wagon. As for individual entry, it would be free for you, sir."

He sighed in relief and said, "Oh, then can you add the wagon permit, please?"

The guard nodded his head, and his card once again started shining, this time in a dim red hue.

Soon, the guard handed him his card back and bowed a little to him. This was a little different from how he was treating the basic permit holders.

Glitch wasted no time and walked away while examining his card. There was no visual change to the card. He realized these permits had some kind of magic marking that allowed the guards to see the information about those entering the city.

Well, too bad he could not use magic. He sent both permits to his inventory.

He had to walk tens of meters through a narrow road surrounded by guards.

As soon as he passed through the last guard, a notification popped in front of him.

Ding!

[New transfer location registered!]

He sighed in relief as, from this point, his spawn point shifted to Ckiukuji town.

On the other side of the gate, he saw 3–4 adventurers waiting for him with smiles on their faces. He tossed one silver coin to them and walked away without looking back at him.

That was the end of their transaction.
