Kenji tapped his finger against the cold metal table in front of him as he scanned the dull heavily reinforced integration room he had been confined to, 'They weren't kidding about the security measures.'
After Ida ordered Kenji to identify himself he had still been taken in for questioning, though Kenji couldn't blame them completely, 'If a living shadow showed up claiming to be a dead man, I would be suspicious as well.'
Letting out a sigh Kenji began to wonder how long he would be left to sit alone when the door swung open, a massive piece of steel at least a foot thick with two deadbolts the thickness of Kenji's legs.
Through the door a plain unassuming man entered dressed in a pitch black trench coat with an insignia pinned to his chest marking him as some sort of ranking officer.
"Goodday, my name is Naomasa Tsukauchi and I am the Chief of Personnel and Security. Today I will be conducting your interview to ascertain whether or not you are who you say you are and if you pose a threat to the city. Before we begin I must inform you that you have the right to remain silent if you wish." Tsukauchi spoke as if reading off a piece of paper clearly having said the exact same lines many times before.
"Don't I have the right to a lawyer as well?" Kenji asked as Tsukauchi took the seat across from him and placed a stack of folders on the table.
"Unfortunately ever since the wall collapsed Japan has been under martial law as such some liberties have been revoked in the interest of security and maintaining order. Now let us begin," Tsukauchi answered dully before reaching into his coat and putting a small balance scale on the table, the same kind that Lady Justice would hold in her hand, "I am going to ask you a series of yes or no questions, if you choose to respond you will answer with yes or no. Do you understand."
"Yes," Kenji replied but he didn't take his eyes off the scales as he felt the space around the unassuming object shift and warp. There was no doubt in Kenji's mind that the item had been infused with a quirk.
"Very well, let us begin," Tsukauchi said with a dip of his head as he took out a notebook and pencil and put it on the table, "Is your name Kenji Aotoma?"
"Yes."
"Is Kenji Aotoma your legal name?"
"Yes."
"Has your name ever changed?"
"No."
Tsukauchi rapidly fired a series of questions and Kenji noticed that each time he spoke the scale seemed to stir as if tasting his response for something.
Pausing a second Tsukauchi glanced at the scales and nodded after a second when nothing happened, "Moving on, I will now ask a series of questions that you may respond to in any capacity you deem necessary. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Kenji grumbled, starting to get a bit annoyed as he realized that Tsukauchi was going to try and extract every single bit of information he could.
"Where have you been for the past six months?" Tsukauchi asked as he fixed Kenji with a piercing gaze.
"I don't know." Kenji answered and almost immediately the scales started to waver, bouncing back and forth as Tsukauchi frowned, "Would you like to clarify your answer?"
Kenji glanced at the scale before focusing on the detective, "It can detect half truth's as well?"
"Would you life to clarify your answer," Tsukauchi asked again, ignoring Kenji's question.
Shrugging Kenji sat back in his chair, "Fine, for the past six months I've been stuck in another dimension."
The scales stopped moving and Tsukauchi glanced at them skeptically before turning back to stare at Kenji this time with far less disinterest, "Do you know why you were brought to this…other dimension?"
Kenji fell silent for a moment wondering how much he should reveal before deciding that this wasn't the time to play hardball, "It was a unintentional function of my quirk."
Tsukauchi glanced at the scale and nodded when they didn't move, "Our records show that just before you were reported missing you used your quirk to save over a hundred people from being buried alive by a collapsing skyscraper. Does this description of events match with your memories?"
"Yes," Keni replied, his voice harsh as he recalled the feeling of his body being unraveled at a fundamental level.
"Did you know that using your quirk in such a capacity would have potentially disastrous effects on your long term health and well being." Tsukauchi asked as he stared into the hood of Kenji's cloak unable to see the man hiding within the shadows but he could feel their eyes meet.
Kenji let out a dark chuckle, "Disastrous is an understatement, I was expecting a fate worse than death. Could feel it happen in real time too, everything slowly unraveling into entropy. Wasn't a great feeling."
Tsukauchi didn't need to glance at the scale to tell that Kenji was telling the truth, there was a raw vulnerability in his voice that spoke volumes, "How did you manage to escape back to our dimension?"
Kenji shook his head, "I don't really understand it myself, but I believe it has something to do with my new quirk."
"New quirk?" Tsukauchi asked, his eyebrows rising slightly in surprise, "Are you saying you no longer possess the quirk Vassal of the Abyss?"
"Yes," Kenji replied sourly.
"Could you please state the name of your new quirk," Tsukauchi asked his pencil at the ready to record Kenji's response.
"My quirk is called…Tarturus."
Tsukauchi paused, "Like the old prison?"
Kenji shook his head, "In Greek mythology Tarturus, was a god who took the form of a bottomless abyss and the Grandfather of all monsters after giving birth to Typhon the father of all monsters."
Tsukauchi gave Kenji a once over before reluctantly writing down the name, "Very well, then I only have one more question left for you."
Kenji perked up, eager to get the interrogation over.
"Do you have any intent of harming or disturbing the city intentionally or unintentionally?"
"No."

"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that," Toga muttered leaning against Kenji as they rode up the elevator leading to her room in the barracks. Though calling the luxurious tower a barracks was a stretch, Kenji wasn't going to complain about the hospitalities.
"It was tiring, but it's somewhat calming to know that they're taking their jobs so seriously," Kenji replied just as the elevator came to stop opening to reveal the entrance to a massive living room with floor to ceiling windows that gave a breathtaking view of the entire military base.
Giggling at his shocked look Toga took his hand and pulled him out of the elevator, "What is all this?"
"Being top ten comes with some benefits," Toga replied as she gave Kenji a tour of the living room and kitchen which occupied the same space but with how large the room was it certainly didn't feel like it.
"It feels wrong that all of this is just for us, I feel like ten people could live here comfortably," Kenji muttered and Toga giggled mischievously, "Funny you should say that. Come on, I want to show you something."
Before Kenji could respond Toga pulled him along practically vibrating in place with excitement. Eventually she led him up a short set of stairs leading to a wall of fogged glass panes and as arrived at the top two of the panes slid aside revealing a massive bedroom occupied by an equally massive circular bed in the center with lace curtains hanging over the circular head board.
But what was on the bed stole his attention in an instant.
"W-welcome home."
