Memories of an Old Lane

"You only love me because I'm the person who got your past girlfriend's heart." Tears rolled down on her cheeks. She clutched on her left chest as her heart was aching. No, it's not her heart. She just borrowed it. She borrowed it from the girlfriend of the man she loves the most. He tried to reach for her but she just shoved his hand away. He never wanted to hurt her. He never wanted to make her cry. "Don't touch me! If you want her heart again, I will give it back to you!" He slowly shook his head, feeling his voice got stuck in his throat. He wants her to stay by his side but why can't he voice it out? "Fuyu—" "I regret loving you. I wish I just died that day."

She hugged her plushie tightly while using her phone. It's been two days since they went back from the trip and until now, she can feel his kiss on her forehead. Apparently, he gave her another forehead kiss before they parted ways. Makoto didn't see this since he was busy checking her luggage. He squinted his eyes while eating the food she brought from the trip. She is not telling him anything, so all he can do is to wait for her to open it up.

"Nii, I'm gonna go to the museum with Sensei this weekend." She finally said and he rolled his eyes. He thought they were already dating or something.

"I will just remind you that you're still a student, Fuyu." He said and she pouted. She knows that and that is the reason why she is not telling the older one about her crush on him.

"It's just a crush, Nii. He is just my crush." She said but there is a hint of disappointment in her words. He knows that it is not just a crush. It is more than that.

"Make sure it is just a crush. You wouldn't want him to lose his certification as a doctor, right? You're still his patient after all." He said and she nodded. She will wait. She needs to wait.

She was busy the whole week until the weekend came. She organized her clothes on the bed, trying to choose which is the best. She called her mother to ask which one she prefers and she ended up wearing vintage-styled ones with a collar. It is her first time to go out for a museum date and she is happy that it will be with him. A few guys from the university have been pursuing her but she is always declining since she really can't set her eyes upon them and she also thinks that they might not be able to handle her once something happened to her just like the chest pains she got during the onsen trip.

Their meeting time is nine in the morning and she has half an hour to travel. She grabbed her small backpack and rushed out of the house after putting her shoes on. She didn't know that she forgot her phone that was placed under her pillows. The bus stop is just a walking distance, so she enjoyed the warmth of sunlight first. She saw one of her friends from her part-time job and noticed that she was agitated.

"Fuyu-chan, I need your help." She said, almost teary-eyed while holding her hands. She was about to ask why but the younger one suddenly pulled her and brought her to the hotel near the amusement park.

"I got another part-time job and they need one more staff member for the huge event. It will be just for today. Help me with this one, please? My manager said it will be double pay. Please? Please, Fuyu-chan." Her friend cried softly and she didn't hesitate to accept it.

"I need to meet Sensei today though.." She mumbled, thinking that this one might be a half-day. She rummaged through her backpack to look for her phone but she couldn't find it.

"Do you have Sensei's number? I need to tell him the emergency." She asked, biting her lips lightly while feeling sad that she needs to cancel their museum date.

"I don't have his number but I have his email address because my mother asked for his consultation last week." The younger one handed her phone to her and she started writing the message.

After sending the message, she gave the phone back to her friend and they rushed into the hotel building already. She changed her clothes and shoes and they started cleaning the function hall before decorating it. She didn't notice the time anymore and it was already afternoon when they finished. The event will be later at seven and lots of famous people will attend it. She sat on the side while taking a break. The manager walked in and talked to her to thank her and to give the payment for her help. She looked at her watch and saw that it was already almost five. She immediately changed her clothes back to her dress, thinking that she will still be able to enter the museum.

"Sensei.." She mumbled while almost running. She jumped in the bus and looked for a seat. She found one at the back and she sat, resting her legs and feet from running and walking everywhere.

When she arrived at the museum, it was already closed. Tears started to fall from her eyes as she sat at the side while hugging her knees. Her museum date with him became a mess in just a snap. Of course, he will not want to waste his time waiting for her. She is tired and sad. She wants to go home already. She even put some makeup on just for this day.

"Fuyu?" When she heard that voice, she lifted her head and looked up at him. He squatted down and wiped her tears.

"Sensei.." She cried more, feeling like she has no rights to hug him even though she needs comfort and assurance.

"It's fine, Fuyu. You did well today." He said softly while hugging her. She hugged him back as she continued on crying.

"Sensei.. Sensei, I'm sorry for making you wait.. You should have not stayed.. You should have left.." She said between her cries and he just left a kiss on top of her head while tightening his hug a little.

"It's fine, Fuyu. I'm not mad. I really waited for you. I know you will still go here." He whispered and she slowly stopped from crying when she heard those.
