The first reunion
5 years later, Kai was sent abroad to learn about medical science, she became the top doctor there then went back to the U.S to go home. As she came back to the airport, she saw a man around 22 years old with red eyes and a black and white suit, "odd, he looks so similar, yeah he reminds me of the guy from my dreams," She thought. "No! That's impossible it was just a dream," She kept on walking and met the exit of the airport. A girl waved to her it was her best friend Cora, "hey Kai over here." "I'm coming, one minute," Kai dragged her luggage next to Cora. "I see you haven't changed, still dressing like a boy I see." Kai laughed as she replied "Well I see you're just as clumsy as ever," they both laughed in happiness as they walked to Cora's car. When they entered the car they talked about how Kai was the first girl to graduate medical classes at the age of 19. It turned out that Kai was hired right after graduating, she was hired to be a personal doctor.
They drove to a nearby cafe and had a little chat, when a lady came to them, she had white hair and wore black clothes, she looked around 58 years old. "Kai is that you, you've returned," Kai responded "Yes, mother it's me what do you want?" Kai, had a cold gaze as she looked at her mom, for always being away, her mom put on a sad face and said "I'm sorry, my baby" a tear dropped from her face. To break the awkward aura around them, Cora said "hey aunt long time no see."
Kai's mom wiped her tears and sat beside Cora. As Kai's mom never saw Kai since she was 5, she asked Cora to go to the bathroom with her. Cora nodded with a bit of hesitation, as they walked to the bathroom Kai's mom asked "why does she dress like that." Cora answered "by that do you mean, why she wears men's clothing." "Yes" Kai's mother replied, "well she always dressed like that, even when we were kids." As they walked back, Kai had already left, there was money on the table.
Kai took a taxi on the street with a piece of paper with an address. It read "4973 Red Bud Lane," She passed the 4965th then the 4979th then she reached the 4973th. She knocked on the door, when an old man wearing a black suit answered, he looked around the age of 60. "What may I pay this visit?" he asked, Kai answered, "I was hired to be a personal doctor, then was given this location." "Well the young master has not returned yet," "Oh, Then please call me when he is back" Kai replied with a smile.
As she left her phone rang.
When she answered a lady's voice came out of the other line. "Honey it's me, I want you to come home your father has just returned from abroad." "What does this old hag want, if I remember correctly they left me when I was 5 and now they just want to suddenly pop up again," Kai thought. But she agreed for the sake of "family".
She called Cora as she was hesitant to go home alone, they drove to Kai's house in Cora's car. When they arrived, they saw a big house with roses at the front, they opened the door to see Kai's parents. They both hugged her, tear's going down their face "Sorry dear, we had no choice but to leave you." Kai stopped thinking for a split second, then she pushed them away, "Oh ya, what awesome reason did the both of you have to leave me" Kai said. "Look, I'm only here for the fact that I still have the littlest conscience to call you parents" Kai then stated. "With all that said can we please eat dinner," Kai said with a hint of anger. "Did you really have to be so mean, I mean they are still your parents" Cora whispered.
Kai walked a bit faster to the dining room, as the maids put the food down, there was an awkward silence. "Well I have to uh… head to the washroom," Cora said with an awkward face. The silence did not go away, Kai's parents had an expression of shame. The aura around the dining room was mixed with hatred and sadness, regret and shame, It was a war without guns.
