Chapter 569: Fish's Dream (Edited)

Unfortunately, Fish's advice had not been followed.

Harry didn't think Snape would let him go so easily, nor would Sirius apologize to Snape.

"Then there's no way nya."

Ψ(?Φ~Φ?)

Fish shrugged and said vaguely, "Then you'll have to study Potions and not let Severus catch you when you make mistakes..."

He added after a moment's thought, "Or you can stick it out for another year, when the O.W.L. exams are over, and then you can take whatever classes you want, George and Fred won't need many classes now nya."

"Fish!" Hermione glared at Fish who had had the bad idea, "Potions is a very important course, and I think it's important that you take it if you can."

Harry looked unconcerned, in fact, although Fish didn't mention it, he wasn't going to be taking Snape's Potions class next year, and he didn't think he could apply for Snape's class with his Potions grades.

Of course, there's no need to say this, let Hermione prattle on.

After lunch, Fish headed to the north tower with Harry and the others, while Hermione, who was no longer in Divination, headed to Arithmancy and Divination.

Other than Potions, Harry wasn't going to take Divination next year either. After all, no one could stand the thought of being predicted death in almost every class.

The bell rang just as the group reached the roof of the north tower, and they climbed the silver staircase to the Divination classroom.

As in the previous two years, the classroom was so dimly lit and smelled so strong that it gave the impression of being numb as they entered.

At that moment, Professor Trelawney was handing out tattered leather-bound books to each table, and the small, flimsy desks were arranged haphazardly around the room.

Each of the students found a table to sit at, and Fish scanned the cover of the book on the table, the title of which was 'The Oracle of Dreams', and the name of the author, Inigo Imago.

Unlike Snape, Professor Trelawney was not stressing the importance of this year's O.W.L. exams, as she considered passing them of little importance compared to the 'sacred art' of Divination.

"Please go to the Introduction and read what Imago says about dream interpretation. Then, in pairs, use 'The Dream Oracle' to interpret each other's most recent dreams. Let's get started."

Professor Trelawney gave the day's homework after a very different speech from the rest of the teachers, and then grabbed the teapot on the stove and sat down next to Fish to have a cup of tea with Fish.

Harry was slightly relieved that Professor Trelawney had not predicted his death today, and flipped through 'The Dream Oracle' in front of him, reading it absentmindedly.

Fish, who had an aversion to reading, didn't even open the book, happily sipping his special tea with Trelawney.

"Do you have any special dreams, Fish?"

Professor Trelawney asked in her usual muffled, dreamy voice as she set down her cup of tea.

Although she usually gave Fish special treatment, Professor Trelawney had not given up her plans to educate Fish as a fortune teller.

"Dreams?"

?(??ω??)?

Fish scratched his head, trying to remember.

Cats spent most of their sleep in a state of false sleep, in which they could perceive everything going on around them, not to mention their dreams, and when they fell into a deeper sleep, they did not remember the content of their dreams.

However, over the past two years, Fish had gotten into the habit of sleeping in his human form, so he occasionally remembered some of his dreams, but when he woke up, Fish had forgotten them completely.

It was only now that Professor Trelawney asked him to, that he began to remember the contents of those dreams....

"Tree..." muttered Fish, immersed in his memories.

"What?" Professor Trelawney didn't hear him clearly.

"It's the nya tree!" said Fish with a twinkle in his eye. "There was a very, very big tree in Fish nya's dream!"

? (? ?? ω??) ?

He stood up and gestured with his hands in the air, standing on his tiptoes to emphasize the size of the tree.

Everyone's attention was fixed on the suddenly excited Fish, but Fish ignored his astonishment and continued to relate his dream to Trelawney with great enthusiasm.

"Fish has only had one dream, and it was about a super-sized tree!". She paused and then added, "Bigger than Fish's Patronus!".

In fact, Fish had a vague feeling in the back of his mind that the tree in the dream was his own Patronus in its own right.

With Fish's relatively poor vocabulary, he could only describe the tree in his dream as "super-sized."

She had never seen the tree in its entirety, except that, in her dream, the whole sky was covered by its branches and leaves, and Fish stood beneath it as if in the middle of a forbidden forest.

Professor Trelawney had never met Fish's Patronus, she had only heard that Fish's Patronus was a tree, and that it was much larger than the usual Patronus, so she unconsciously guessed that the tree Fish was referring to was probably some kind of ancient tree of great age.

So he began to analyze it for Fish, drawing on his knowledge of dream interpretation.

"Dreaming of a giant tree means that you have good luck and fortune at that time, but you may have some problem in your relationship, but soon it will get better and even tighten up..."

"Is that so nya?"

(??ω??)?

Fish remembered that the last time he had dreamt of the giant tree had been after defeating Voldemort last term....

That was when he won the Triwizard Tournament, got a thousand gold galleons and told Hermione that he wasn't human....

"Sybil, you've hit the nail on the head! It's all right."

∑(?ΦДΦ?)

Fish was amazed, it was the first time he had ever seen Professor Trelawney's prophecy so accurate....

Most of the others seemed incredulous as well, after all, apart from Professor Trelawney's little admirers, most of the students had already recognized her for what she was, and had taken Divination purely because it was an easier class.

"Fish must have made a mistake and believed her misunderstanding."

Ron whispered in Harry's ear, who nodded in agreement.

But Fish didn't believe it, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized that Professor Trelawney's dream interpretation was accurate....

The reason for this "misunderstanding" was simple: Fish had always had good luck, he had always been given gifts and had always been close to Hermione, and as for the so-called "emotional ups and downs" in the dream interpretation....

Hermione had to correct some of Fish's misbehaviors at Professor McGonagall's request, so it wasn't uncommon for them to have tantrums with each other from time to time.

"Fish wants to learn how to interpret dreams!"

?(??ω??)?

For the first time, Fish became interested in divination.

Naturally, Professor Trelawney would not let this excellent opportunity pass her by, she was so excited that she forgot to keep that ethereal voice, and she explained to Fish how to play it in a polished voice that everyone had never heard before.

She wanted to take the opportunity to impress Fish.

Only things didn't turn out quite the way Professor Trelawney had imagined....

"Fish thinks it's too early for Fish to interpret dreams nya."

(?ω?)

After listening to Professor Trelawney's tedious ten-minute lecture, Fish's enthusiasm waned and he gave up.
