Chapter 6

"Wanda. What did you do to me?" asked Adam.

"I gave you my powers." Said Wanda shocking Adam.

"Gave me your powers….. How is that possible?"

"It's because of my mutant ability. An ability I have never told anyone not even my brother. An ability that helped save me and my brother when a Stark missile landed in front of us when we were children.

Probability distortion.

It's my mutant ability that allows me to manipulate the probability of things happening or not happening. It's an ability that enabled me to manipulate the probability of the Stark missile not exploding to 100% when I was a child saving my life. Over time as my various abilities grew and developed so did my mutant ability until finally one day when I was wondering whether having powers was a good thing, I managed to subconsciously deduce the probability of passing on my powers to another should I wish it was entirely possible. Of course I kept such knowledge to myself until two days ago when you broke up with me sharing your views on heroes and the government. In that moment when I lost the only last remaining good thing in my life was the moment my mind suddenly became clear as I knew that I no longer wanted these cursed powers as all they had done was take things from me. So I came to you in the dead of night and using my probability manipulation powers, I gave you all of my abilities which means now I am nothing more than an ordinary human. The probability mutant ability helps to perfectly integrate my powers with yourself with the higher the percentage the less chance of you exploding upon receiving my powers. It was only when I sensed the 100% possibility that I transferred my powers to you." Explained Wanda with a panicked expression as she worried that Adam would think that she had performed an unorthodox experiment on him.

Adam's thoughts however were on a different thing entirely.

"Why? Why would you give me your powers?"

"I don't have a perfect answer for you. The truth is I was tired of my powers as ever since I got them, I have lost everything in my life. My home, my brother and two days ago I lost you as well which was the tipping point for me and since I knew I could give away my powers I decided to give them to you. Someone I love. Someone who always stayed rational even when confronted with terrifying beings like my past self. Besides someone with your perspective and thinking could do far better with my powers than I could." Explained Wanda.

"Aren't you afraid that I could use your powers to do evil? To destroy and harm humanity. To go against the heroes who are your current comrades and friends."

"You could but the truth is I no longer care. You were right. All my life I've done is follow orders be it Hydra, Ultron or the Avengers. Sacrificing every part of me including my brother for other people's causes and I'm done. I've decided to now do what I want which is to be with you. So no matter what you become, I will follow you and stay by your side"

"Why?" asked Adam flabbergasted as he gazed at Wanda.

"Because I love you and I don't want to lose you. You're the only good thing left in my life and if giving you my powers allows us to be together then so be it. I am determined to win your love, to be with you.

But I can tell you don't believe me so go ahead. Read my mind. "

Wanda came to sit beside Adam and placed Adam's hand on her cheek. Adam hesitated but it was only after Wanda urged him that he activated his psychic abilities. He was immediately enveloped with a large number of memories each passing by him at rapid speeds yet even so he was able to capture what was happening in every single one of them. In just a minute, Adam was able to view Wanda's memory all the way to the day she was born. At this moment, Adam could confidently say that he knew Wanda more than even she knew herself and it was because of that that he could accurately verify that Wanda was indeed in love with him. His average looks, his voice, his body odour, his mind, his perspectives on the world. He could tell that every single aspect of him attracted Wanda and made her fall deeply in love with him. She did give him all of her powers after all and you don't do that with the average person.

Adam, still cupping Wanda's face, spoke

"I understand now that I can trust you and just how deeply you love me. I can't say that I love you in any way as I've never been one to fall in love quickly so I can promise you this. I can try to love you and over time hopefully I can reciprocate your true love for me."

Wanda nodded "I know. Even so, I'll be with you, love you in every way and wait until the day you truly love me back." She said giving him a beautiful loving smile that made Adam's heart skip a beat for a second before returning to normal.

"With that out of the way we should now discuss our next plan of actions." And so the couple spent the next hour or two discussing their next moves.

Later that night, Wanda returned to the Avengers Base where she was greeted by Natasha at the entrance of the building. When Natasha asked where she had been she simply said that she had been out for a stroll but was now back. Natasha, noticing Wanda's elevated mood, decided not to focus on her lie but rather simply wished her a good night which Wanda returned before each headed to their own rooms. Still questions as to why Wanda had lied to her and where she had been lingered on her mind.
