"Cheers to Hell's Kitchen," the old man said.
"Uh... I'm underage, and the law forbids me from drinking alcohol," Ethan replied.
"But, this is Hell's Kitchen, right?" Inside Old Dad's bar, the two staff members were struggling to drag the bodies outside. Skye was chatting with Old Dad's daughter, both of them having had quite an eventful evening.
Old Dad, Daredevil (Matt Murdock), and Ethan raised their glasses for a toast.
"To Hell's Kitchen."
"To Hell's Kitchen."
"To Hell's Kitchen."
"Although I can't see your face, I can tell that you're not a bad guy," Daredevil Matt Murdock said with a smile. He swallowed the alcohol, coughed lightly, causing some bloodstains to appear on his wound.
"How did you handle your injuries if you can't go to a hospital?" Ethan asked.
"Old Dad's daughter knows some medical techniques, and she usually helps me out."
"I've been injured before, but nothing as serious as this time," Matt said.
"They say you stormed their harbor and took down over a dozen people?" Ethan asked.
"I didn't kill anyone. I'm a Catholic. They brought in a new shipment of drugs to the harbor, and I discovered it. While I was destroying it, they found me," Matt explained.
"I don't quite understand the mindset of you superheroes. You want to fight crime but can't kill, so you end up inviting trouble for yourselves," Ethan shook his head in disbelief.
"If I start killing, then what's the difference between me and those criminals? I won't stop you from killing, but I can't do it myself. It's not about hypocrisy; it's about my own moral compass," Matt smiled wryly.
"Matt, if you never kill, no one will ever fear you. Those criminals will continue to run rampant. It's all because of your mercy," Old Dad scolded angrily.
"Maybe... but I'll stick to my principles," Matt downed a glass of wine.
"What about these bodies? Will they cause you trouble, Old Dad?" Ethan asked.
"Trouble is inevitable, but it shouldn't be a big problem. Gold Bing's father used to be friends with me. He won't do much to me," Old Dad smiled bitterly as he downed a shot of strong liquor, his smile tinged with a hint of desolation, as if reminiscing about his youth.
"What kind of person is Gold Bing?" Ethan curiously asked.
"He's a businessman and a warlord," Old Dad took a drag of his cigar and blew out a smoke ring.
"There's a saying in Hell's Kitchen that he himself coined, and it fits him well," Old Dad said.
"What saying?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"The underworld now operates like a business transaction... the boss and the board of directors will be... Gold Bing!" Old Dad answered.
"He's quite the modest fellow," Ethan smirked.
"Yeah, but I'm determined to catch him," Matt said with a confident tone. Loving and battling with Gold Bing had become a daily routine for him. Being blind, Matt's sense of justice was also somewhat blind. That night, the three of them had quite a conversation. Although they had just met, the shared experience of adversity quickly turned them into friends. An old Ford slowly drove out of Hell's Kitchen.
"We can stop here, go back," Ethan waved goodbye. He and Skye got off the old Ford driven by Old Dad's staff.
"You've shown me a whole new side of you today. Sometimes I wonder if you're the same boy next door I used to know," Skye looked up at Ethan, her eyes filled with curiosity.
"Should I reintroduce myself, then, beautiful lady?"
The golden hands on the clock ticked slowly towards midnight. That exaggerated golden watch was Ethan's spoils of war. Not wanting to miss an opportunity, he took it from Bray's body.
