Chapter 2

I tried to look around me, but I could only see darkness. I could feel I was in some sort of liquid. Thinking fast I concluded that I am most likely in the womb of my now new mother. I tried my best to move but found that my body wouldn't listen. Every time I would try my arm or leg would go out of control or go in the complete opposite direction of where I attempted to go. This probably meant my nerve endings are still being developed. I suddenly felt the liquid drain around me, and I could see a blinding light. I tried my hardest to maneuver my head towards the light and I could feel the walls around me push me in that direction. I felt hands grab a hold of me and pulled me out. I tried to look around, but I couldn't see very well. Everything was blurry. I tried to test my vocal cords but all that came out was random baby sounds. I expected as much. It would be weird if I could talk right off the bat.

"Mr. John, both are healthy. A boy and a girl! Congratulations!" Someone said out loud. A girl? Was Wolverine a girl? Is that what Sir changed?

"You'll be James." Someone said. Then I could feel someone the person that was holding me hand me off to someone else. I tried to look but I still couldn't see well.

"And you'll be Lydia." Seeing as this person sounded male and was naming us, that would make him my new father. It hit me a moment after. I'm the girl? I couldn't help but scream out my frustration. Why would Sir make me into a girl?! That's not what I asked. I asked to be the twin of Wolverine. Wait, just because I didn't specify the gender, he made his own choice? I want a redo!

"Shh it's okay don't cry. Here, I'll pass you to your mother." James said. I now felt being handed to someone else again. I could start to see more clearer now that whatever was in my eye was being flushed out by my tears. I could see my mother now. If I remember correctly, she wasn't a good mother. The fact that she cheated on my new father is proof of that. I was tired about everything that just happened. I could feel myself falling to sleep.

I was back in the white space again. This time I was in my baby state. I was in a crib or at least I think is a crib.

"Welcome!" I heard a voice say. I knew that voice. How could I possibly forget it! You! Why did you make me into a girl! I'm a boy! I knew he could read my thoughts as I was thinking this.

"Well you didn't really say anything, so I assumed it didn't matter." Sir said. Maybe it was what he did to my brain, but I already calmed down, running different conversations in my head. I already assumed that he would have that excuse.

"I also just wanted to see your reaction. Priceless. Now remember to entertain me! I'm already excited to what you'll do." Sir finished speaking. His voice was fading out as I was emerging from my rest.

I found myself in a crib like what I was in while in the white space. Thinking about what Sir said just made me angry. I hate being entertainment for someone watching me 24 /7. And now being a girl makes it even more weird. But there's nothing I can do to someone who is that powerful. As I think about it, even if I someone managed to gather all the blood from all the most powerful beings in this universe, it wouldn't be enough to even scratch someone like him. Even the god-like beings here are probably unaware of his existence.

I forced myself to move on from the state of depression I was in. I needed to think what my next steps would be. I need to formulate multiple plans. I would be a fool in assuming my first plan would work from the get-go. I also took advantage of my memory and start to organize everything I knew. Ranging from comics, TV shows, games, and movies. I needed to know all the events that would happen and the dates. I began to organize the information chronologically by date and leave the vaguer ones for later.

Time started to go by faster. I would be constantly tired and would take short naps from all the thinking I was doing. There was so much information to organize it couldn't be done that quickly unless I wanted to make a mistake or leave events out. I had to be very meticulous and leave nothing out.

I knew the year I was born was 1832 and I was born in Canada, somewhere in the northwest territories. It should be Alberta, Canada but I had to make sure. I must be careful in assuming information here. I don't know what changes Sir made.

As I grew, I noticed how my mother would be very resentful to my father. John was a kindhearted person. It's a shame what happens. But I could not change the outcome. It's vital for us to trigger our mutations. I knew my brother witnessing the event was his trigger, but I don't know if it's enough for me. I needed to do something.

I don't know what triggered mother to betray John, but I could see how she behaved towards Thomas. Thomas was the groundskeeper in our farmland. As I grew up, I could see that he would drink a lot and would beat his own son, Victor. Technically, he would be our half-brother. Father would take James to his work sometimes and tasked him to do different jobs around the farm to help. I tried to join in, but mother would stop me. She made my life very difficult and would constantly keep me by her side. She made me do chores inside the house and outside as well. She made me weed, garden, and tend to the cows in our farm. In a way I kind of welcomed it, since it allowed me to experiment on myself.

One time, I was tending to the cows and I saw a pointy metal sticking out of the ground. I wanted to see if Sir already gave me my mutations, so I decided to cut my hand with the pointy metal. The result was me trying to hold my tears as the wound kept bleeding. It wasn't a large or deep cut, but it certainly hurt a lot. I rushed to mother to make sure it would get infected and have it washed. She called me names and tended to my wound.

I turned 10 and started to help mother with more of the cooking and baking around the house. Outside father would teach James how to ride a horse and fish near the lake that was close by. I grew envious of James, but I knew he had no control over the actions of our parents. I also noticed mother trying to be sneaking and seeing Thomas. It sickens me seeing them together. I would hide and see what they were up to. I thought about telling father but If I did that, I would change the timeline.

Mother would home-school us both and father would teach us other things mother couldn't do. But we mostly helped throughout the farm. This continued for a long time. Then James suddenly fell ill and was bedridden by a high fever. I don't remember him getting sick. Was this something I missed in the comics or maybe something Sir added?

James and I recently turned 13 and Victor would come and visit James while he laid sick. Its been about a week since he had a high fever and I began to worry. I was starting to wonder if I should try to make something for him to make him feel better, but I had no idea what to do. Usually in these cases, I would just take medicine over the counter and call it a day. That's not the case in this time. I decided to stop what I was doing and sit next to James. Both of us always played together with sticks or play whatever game we came up with. I grew very fond of him and became protective of him. He was very shy and didn't stand up for himself. He kind of reminded of myself before I died. I knew that he would change though.

As I reached his room, I knocked and entered inside. He was sleeping and taking shallow breaths. I drained the cloth that was in his forehead and dipped it in clean water and placed it back on his head. The sun was going down, so I decided to take a short nap here. I'm sure mother would wake me up if she needed me.

I woke up to the sound of thunder outside. I could see the sky light up from the lightning. While I was looking from the window, I heard some voices outside. I could see Thomas and John arguing about something. When I saw this, I knew what was going to happen next. I went downstairs to grab a knife knowing mother wouldn't be there. I stayed as quiet as possible behind the kitchen door listening in.

I heard father coming in and telling mother that he had fired Thomas. Elizabeth was shocked and didn't know how to react. I heard James coming up behind me and made a gesture to tell him to be quiet. He nodded as leaned next to me so he could hear what was happening to.

What happened next was according to what I knew. Thomas rushed through the main door. I heard the wood crack under the force he applied to it. James reacted and went to stand by my mother and I hesitantly followed.

"You! Do you even know what you're doing! You can't treat me like this! You have no idea what's going on!" Thomas screamed at John.

"Get out Thomas!" John screamed in reply.

Thomas didn't listen and made his way to John. John felt threaten and push Thomas away. That's when I heard the gunshot. It made my hears ring from the sound. I put my hands to my ears in reflex and bend down. As I looked up, I saw the blood spattered on the walls. John was laid on the floor motionless. Seeing this in person was very different from the movies or comics. It made the food I had come up from my stomach. I threw up what little food made its way out.

Everything was muted to me as I as James open his mouth. I could see him screaming but I couldn't hear. I see John charge at Thomas and impale him with the claws that burst out from Johns hands. Thomas was taken by surprised as he was looking at John lying on the floor, he had already dropped his gun. Thomas only felt the pain as the claws made their way into his chest.

Shock was all in his eyes. My eyes as well. The ringing in my ears reduced and I was able to hear what Thomas said to James.

"You're my son…" Thomas said as he turned his eyes to me. By his actions I knew what he meant. That I was his daughter as well. I already knew this, but I considered John my father rather than him.

"What have you done!" Mother screamed out loud. She started sobbing seeing both of her lover's dead.

"Leave! You monster! Leave!" She screamed again. I could see Victor standing by the door. Hearing what mother said James looked at his hands and looked at me shocked. He took off running. Victor was standing there looking at both of us. I knew what I had to do.

"You leave too! Get out! I'm going to tell everyone what you've done. Everyone will hunt you down! Like the animals you…" She screams but was suddenly stopped as the knife I had when behind her back and out her chest.

"Sorry mother, but I can't let you do that." I whispered in her ear.

"Thank you for giving birth to me. I'll make it quick." I said as I took the knife out and cut her throat.

"We need to catch up to him." I said as I looked at Victor. He was shocked by what I did. He only nodded and we took off in the direction James went. I used the knife to tear the dress I had so it would be better for running. I warped the knife on the spare cloths and took it with me.

I could feel my body burning as we ran to catch up to James. I felt powerful. I knew I triggered my mutation by killing mother. Killing her had to be done even if it didn't trigger my mutation. Allowing her to contact the town nearby would be detrimental to us.

"James!" I called out as I see him standing near a tree.

"Its okay James. Everything is taken care of. She won't be after us anymore. No one will." I said as I hugged him. He stopped breathing for a second when he heard what I said but resumed and returned the hug. I didn't notice that I was the first one to reach James as I heard Victor coming near us. He looked at me surprised again. I guess I became faster too. I was too focused on finding James that I didn't realize how fast I was running.

"We're family now. Brothers and Sister. No matter what we'll stick together." Victor said as he looked at us. I knew what this meant and where it was going. I didn't say anything. James nodded and went along with Victor. We went east and rested in a nearby rock formation that served as our roof from the rain. We were all tired from running as the sun went down. Victor volunteered to stay up to watch for anything and will wake James when it's his turn. I laid against the rock and pulled my knees to my face. I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

"AH! I didn't see that coming honestly. Killing your mother wasn't necessary you know! You already activated your powers when you saw that guy getting shot. How do you feel?" Sir asked as I found myself in the white space again. Its been a long time since he talked to me.

"…I'm fine" I said as I gave him a glare. He just responded with that wide smile of his. I tried hard to not think about anything, but I couldn't. The fact that I killed mother still hunted me.

"Don't be like that. I can't give you all your answers. What's the fun in that?" Sir said laughing.

"What do you want?" I asked as I didn't want to be here anymore than I need to.

"Nothing just decided to talk since it has been so long. You probably missed talking to me, right?" Sir asked.

"No." I answered his question instantly.

"That's harsh man. Or should I say woman?" Sir said. I know what you're doing. Stop trying to get something out of me. I know you're reading my mind. What did you come to tell me?

"You're no fun. I came to give you a gift. You're gonna need it for what I have in store for this universe." Sir said in a low voice. I was shocked. A gift? What type of gift?

As I thought about that, pain overcame me on my head. It lasted for a couple seconds but it was enough pain to bring me down to me knees. What the hell was that?

"I fixed your memories of the comics and movies. Your information was not correct. I also added small details that you didn't remember as well as historical information." Sir said. That was extremely helpful, but why would you give me that? You know what I would do with that type of information.

"You're severely underestimating how powerful people here are. This isn't some video game. There's no health bar here. Just because you have regenerative powers doesn't mean you can't die. I rather you not make the mistakes past individuals have made." Sir spoke in a serious manner. He has never spoken like that before. I took his words with gratitude. I was being careless. He was right. The powers at work here aren't like in the comics or movies. There's a difference between getting hit in a video game and in real life. I should have realized that when I cut my hand when I was younger.

I must train. I can't fall behind. I must train my body and know the limits of my mutations. I also can't get careless just because I gained new powers. I can't let the power I gained get to my head. I must maintain a clear head.

"Good, it seems you understand. I hope you survive long enough to see some action. Don't die in the wars." Sir spoke as he waved goodbye and I woke up.
