I'll Get Off Here

Finally, Mumut's one week leave was over. Mumut hadn't been working since her mother had the accident, which made her marry Bian. Today Mumut intended to return to work and, of course, with Bian's permission. Bian objected that Mumut returned to work as a janitor in the office. Still, he couldn't possibly move Mumut directly as a staff because it would cause jealousy from employees, even though Bian could have done that. Moreover, Mumut preferred her position as a janitor because she could enter Bian's room freely. Bian grinned, hearing her reason.

Mumut checked her backpack's contents and made sure her MacBook and flash disk containing her thesis proposal was in it. She planned to proofread and print her thesis proposal if there was free time.

Mumut was grateful that Bian guided and helped her a lot in making her thesis proposal. However, Mumut had to work overtime to finish it.

After breakfast, both of them rushed to the car. Today Bian drove his car. He helped Mumut put on her seatbelt before starting his engine and went down the road.

Mumut looked at Bian with great emotion. Mumut felt like she was beginning to fall in love with the handsome man sitting next to her. In the past, Mumut never felt anything other than respect for his superiors, but Bian started stirring up her feelings in recent days. Every time she touched Bian, she felt those feelings that she couldn't resist.

At first, Mumut felt strange when Bian asked her to marry him and asked him for help. Even though Mumut doubted that, of course, she couldn't refuse his request. Mumut was grateful that Bian didn't ask him to give up her virginity and then pay the amount of money. Instead, the man gave her his life. Mumut often heard about some artists or some people who were willing to become a mistress of a boss or sell their virginity for wealth and pleasure.

Mumut was happy that Bian was not like them. Bian even helped her more than she had expected. Bian paid for her mother's hospital fee and provided the best room to care for her mother. He also provided the best surgeons and several nurses to care for the mother.

Bian felt that Mumut was watching him. He turned his head and looked back at her. He smiled as he put his hand on Mumut's head. If only Mumut didn't wear the headscarf, Bian would have ruffled her hair.

Mumut blushed. She turned her gaze to the road in front of her. Mumut felt that Bian looked even more handsome than she had ever seen before.

Her cell phone vibrated. It was a call from Harti. She picked it up.

(Mut, today you started going to work, huh?) Asked Harti.

(Yes, I'm already on my way.)

(Oh, thank goodness.)

Harti then asked about her mother's condition, and Mumut replied that her condition was good and tomorrow she could go home. Harti was happy to hear about that. She also said that she missed Mumut and wanted to tell her a lot of stories. Mumut laughed.

(Overreacting!) Said Mumut.

Harti laughed. Not long after, she ended the call.

"Who is it?" Bian asked after Mumut hung up the call.

"Sis Harti."

"Harti?" Bian narrowed his eyes.

"The janitor supervisor," replied Mumut with a laugh.

Mumut felt that Bian didn't know who Harti was. She was sure that if Bian didn't marry her, Bian would never know who she was.

"Yeah, I'm bad at recognizing people," said Bian, as if he could read her mind.

Mumut looked back at the street, only two stops left to reach the office. Mumut told Bian that she would get off at the next bus stop, then she would continue by city transportation to the next stop in front of their office. Bian flatly refused and asked Mumut to stay with him.

Finally, Mumut could only obey. She remained with Bian until the car stopped at Bian's parking area. Then she looked around before finally got out of the vehicle. Bian laughed at her behavior.

Bian kissed her on the forehead before entering the building and heading for the special elevator for him while she was shocked by Bian's act.

In a daze, Mumut stepped into the building and headed for the elevator.

"You're already in, Mut? How's your mother?" Yeni asked while in the elevator.

"Alhamdulillah, she's fine."

"Thank God, the other day, I came to visit your mother with some friends, but your mother wasn't there. Where did you move your mother? I was looking for another ward."

"Yes. We moved her to another ward."

"To which ward? In the third class, huh?" Yeni asked enthusiastically.

Her eyes sparkled as she found another gossip to spread.

The elevator door opened. Mumut immediately dashed into the pantry and found Harti already sitting there.

Harti smiled brightly, seeing Mumut enter the room. Harti hugged Mumut as if they hadn't met with each other for centuries.
