Chapter 21 - New Skill

Chapter 21 – New Skill

Adrian parted ways with Keith and Ceylon. He did not go far but to the convenience store below his dorm building. The convenience store was not that big but they sold the essential item needed by the students.

Adrian bought something from the store and went behind the dorm building. He walked towards a bush and spoke, "Meow~ Where are you?"

Adrian squatted in front of the bushes and opened a can of cat food. He plucked a few big leaves on a nearby tree and used it as a plate for the cat food. A few seconds later, the bushes rustled and three small kittens came out of it.

"Hello, guys~ Sorry that I did not come for the past few days. My life is a bit hectic and I found a way now though it is still hectic," Adrian smiled at the three kittens. All three kittens were ginger-colored.

Adrian met them a few days after he got into the dorm and had been feeding them almost every day. Even so, due to the problem caused by his siblings, he had held himself from spending too much and that affected the kittens too.

Be that as it may, Adrian was not worried about them that much because other people gave some food to the kittens too. He had seen the dorm manager give food to the kittens and the convenience store owner did the same too. So, even without him doing anything, the other adults would do it for him.

The kittens sniffed on the cat food and started eating. Adrian stared at them while smiling and a few seconds later, one of the three kittens stopped eating and it suddenly came to Adrian's leg and brushed its body at Adrian.

"Hehe," Adrian petted the cat and he watched them for a few more minutes before he suddenly got a message on his bracelet. Adrian checked to see if it was from his friends but was shocked to see that it was a notification from Progress.

[Progress' Notification.

Congratulations, Player Adrian created the skill, Tame. To obtain Tame, Player Adrian needs to use 5 Animal points]

"A new skill because I have a good relationship with the kittens?" Adrian was surprised and he understood now how he could get the game skill in real life.

Adrian checked the skill's detail.

Skill – Tame

Element – Animal

Level – 1

Next Level – 0 of 10 uses

Effect 1 – Tame animals

Effect 2 – 100% success rate for animals of the same level

Effect 3 - Lower success rate by half for every level higher

Effect 4 – Small animals only [Insects, small birds, small mammals, small fishes]

Condition 1 – 5 Energy per use

Condition 2 – Intelligent 10, Animals 5

"Nice! But this skill is only for animals and it will be easy for me if I am raising livestock but for now, I don't need it… I should learn it and collect more animal points," Adrian decided to learn the skill. He used his 5 animal points and he got the Tame skill.

Adrian never thought that he would gain the skill from feeding the stray kittens. He was in a good mood and played with the kittens for a few minutes before he went back to his room.

Adrian lied on the bed and entered Progress. He appeared at the exact location he left earlier but Keith and Ceylon were not with him. He checked the chat and they were online. Adrian walked around the settlement and there were a lot of new 'houses' erected around the settlement.

Looking at the style of the 'houses' Adrian knew the players made them. He messaged the duo and found out that they were far west of the settlement and he walked there. When Adrian got to the end of the west side of the settlement, he saw the duo standing by a tent.

"Yo! you are late," Keith spoke. Adrian was not late at all but because the time inside the game was different from real life, a few hours had already passed.

"Sorry, but I thought we are building a house?" Adrian looked at the tent.

"We thought that it is better not rushing with the house or we will end up like the other players' houses. Let's take our time building our home. For now, we need to learn new skills. Some of the players have started learning the skill and we don't want to fall behind," Ceylon spoke.

Adrian understood them. Since both of them took a mission with many people, the competition to get more contribution points was stiffer. So, they needed to learn Energy Control and Manipulation fast if they did not want to stay behind.

"Adrian, is it your turn yet to learn the skill? Our turn has passed a few days ago but we can just go meet with the leader to learn the skill," Keith spoke.

"About that… I already learned the two skills before arriving in this settlement," Adrian spoke and the duo was shocked.

"How? Did you meet an NPC in the forest?" Keith asked.

"Well… I figured it out by myself," Adrian smiled. Ceylon and Keith were speechless. They never thought that Adrian had learned the skills. Then, Ceylon finally understood what happened with Adrian's self-made 'weapon' before.

"So, you killed the beasts after you obtained the skills. Now everything makes sense," Ceylon spoke and Keith finally connected the dot too.

"If you want, I can teach you the skill but you need to comprehend it yourself. I can only let you know the feeling of using Energy but I cannot help you get the skill," Adrian spoke.

"We know about that. We talked with a few players earlier and found out that the leader said the same thing too. They are all currently cooping in their house to comprehend the skill," Ceylon replied.

"Can you teach us? If you can, that will be easier! We can just stay here and ask you questions if we do not know what to do," Keith asked excitedly.

"Sure. I can help you guys," Adrian agreed. Suddenly, he got a mission.

[Mission: Teaching the basic

Duration: -

Description: Your friends, Keith and Ceylon want to learn Energy Control and Energy Manipulation from you. Teach them well and you will be rewarded.

Grade: E

Requirement: Have Energy Control and Energy Manipulation skills

Participant: Adrian

Contribution Points: 100 points

Rewards: 50 Experience Points, 100 Bronze Coins]

Adrian was surprised. He got a mission and there were contribution points too. He was confused but he understood immediately that helping his friends was the same as helping the settlement.

"What's wrong?" Ceylon asked as he saw Adrian's face.

"I get a mission to teach you guys and there are contribution points too," Adrian smiled but the duo was shocked. Adrian had no intention of keeping it a secret and told them the truth.

"For real! You learn the skill earlier and now you get a teaching mission! I am jealous!!!" Keith was truly jealous. He needed to strive hard for contribution points but Adrian could get a lot of them easily.

"Keith, remember this mission and keep it a secret. When new players arrive, we will teach them too and get those contribution points for ourselves!" Ceylon saw an opportunity for free contribution points and asked Keith to keep it a secret.

"Oo~ I like your idea! Hehe, let's do it!!!" Keith was excited.

thank you~
