Alia was cursed. . . or so did the elders say. The pack deemed her wolfless, scarce of fang, void of the lycan spirit—the rage of her ancestors. Even her mates left, as the clan ostracized the weak. Alia endured and persisted, until on a very day, her last spouse cheated and plotted to kill her with her twin. She swore to survive, to prove the strength of her blood and soul. … Either by death or by fire.
I was just finishing up making a rare steak for Mark. I wanted to surprise him with a romantic dinner when he got home from training with his pack.
They had been busy defending the pack from rogue wolves who were trying to steal some of the females and kill others.
I heard the keys jingle, unlock the front door, and open. As I was preparing a plate, I could smell the alcohol from the kitchen, which worried me.
In the past, when Mark drank, he became increasingly violent towards me and others, especially if he managed to get his hands on strong alcohol.
He would also force himself upon me, even if I didn't want it at the time.
I put the plate on the dining room table watching as he stumbled inside the house, he was normally a very handsome and sweet man with long black hair and tan skin.
But when he was like this he was a pathetic sight, as he stumbled closer he shoved a lamp over breaking it.
I was starting to shake thinking he was going to be exceedingly violent today, and that is when I saw a bite mark on his neck and lipstick stains on the collar of his shirt.
My heart started to race and thoughts began to race through my head wondering if he tried to mate with someone else. Mark looked at me before saying.
"What are you doing here you fucking wolfless whore?"
These words stung and it was normal for Mark to say these things to me it was true I was wolfless but it did not mean it hurt any less that he would say it so cruelly or call me a whore.
Mark only continued to stumble towards me and grab one of the plates off the dinner table and throw it at me, I had to duck to avoid being hit, now I was scared for my life, I was only human, and when he got like this I could do nothing but try and avoid him.
As I brought my arms down from covering my head my eyes met his so full of anger and hatred, this was not normal.
"Mark... honey I was only making dinner for you and me." before I could say anything else he grabbed me by the throat and pinned me to the wall, I thought he was going to force himself upon me again.
"Mark... what is wrong? what happened?" I struggled to say as he squeezed my throat.
Mark said nothing and that is when I saw my sister Lily in the Entryway of our house smirking at me, she had her wolf, and she was very proud of it since that gave her more privileges than me,
Then it dawned that she must have mated with him judging by her disheveled appearance and that freshly fucked face she was wearing, she had the same color lipstick as the stains on his collar.
Lily sauntered into the living room and watched as Mark looked about ready to kill me.
"Aw what is wrong sis? Angry that your man wants a real woman? A real wolf? You shouldn't be surprised your other mate wanted the same, and man that bitch he found was wild wasn't she? Or what about the other one who literally would rather fuck his sister over you?"
She said mockingly to me considering the man she was talking about was Alpha Jorden Shadow who went with an actual wolf instead of me and Alex Blackclaw who regretfully preferred his sister over me.
Mark at that moment tossed me aside as if I was just a chunk of meat being thrown to the dogs for dinner, I hit the ground hard and slowly sat up before I heard Mark.
"Leave Alia and never come back! I never want to see your worthless face ever again, Lily is a better mate than you ever will be she fulfills me in every way."
These words stung worse than him calling me a whore. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and tears started to fall on my cheeks.
I slowly stood up, shaking with fear and anger. 'How... How could you do this to me, Mark? You promised you would never do this to me! You promised never to reject me!"
I screamed at him before shrinking back as he glared at me. All I could hear was Lily giggling at how pathetic I must have looked.
Mark's glare kept boring into me, as though he wanted to kill me himself. "Alia, I reject you. My true mate is Lily. She will be the one at my side from now on. Leave—I don't care if you grab your things or not. You have until nightfall before I and my boys hunt you like the prey you are,"
he said coldly, a chill running down my spine. It was obvious—I needed to get out, and fast.
I ran to my room and grabbed a suitcase, thinking for a moment about what I needed to take with me. In a frenzy, I started looking through all my things. I grabbed some clothes and personal care items I might need before rushing out.
My name is Alia Silverheart, and I am an omega who has no wolf inside her, but I think I'm just a late-changer. I'm only 23 years old, and I've heard there are cases like mine where the wolf comes later.
As you may have figured out by now, I have had three exes. No one wants a wolfless omega like me, as they all see me as useless. I can't go on hunts with the other wolves, and I can't help with any of the major work around the pack.
I grabbed the necklace around my neck and took it off—it was the only thing that linked me to this stupid clan.
I didn't know where I'd go, but I thought I might live with the normals. You see, I've only been with this clan for two years.
I did have some good times here, especially when it came to watching the hunters, the training, and helping with the young ones.
The only bad thing that happened here was what I just experienced with my twin sister, Lily, and my ex-mate, Mark.
I looked at the necklace again, remembering that it was Mark's mother, Janet, who had given it to me.
She had told me before her death: "Alia, I am glad that you are Mark's mate, but I fear it won't last forever after I die. If he changes, please have no feelings toward him. Find someone who actually loves you for being a wolfless omega. As the leader, who is also an omega of this pack, I ordered that anyone who mistreats an omega would lose their head—including Mark."
That same day, we were attacked by some brave rogues who decided to strike while our Beta leader, John, and the Alphas were out hunting. I had been talking with Omega Janet about Christmas events we could throw for everyone, including inviting the allies who have been with the Thunderman clan.
Omega Janet loved the idea, and she and her mate, John, were the only ones who knew I was wolfless at that time. They had heard rumors from my first and second ex-mates' clans about a female omega, wolfless, causing trouble. Anyway, Janet and I were talking when a loud alarm sounded, signaling an attack.
Janet was worried, but she got up and said, "You stay here, Alia. Me and the others will protect the clan."
Then she left. I wanted to follow her and fight too, but I couldn't—being wolfless meant I was weak.
That night, we lost not only Janet but also seven other wolves: George, the clan's smith; Clare, the clan's keeper; Klive, the herder; Hank, the horse master; Ivan, the storyteller; Jake, the medic; and Mari, a young wolf who aspired to become a lunar priestess.
