Chapter 24: Rémi and Felicidad's Tale Part 2

Last time, Rémi met his mother for the first in years. It overjoyed him to know she is well. He also learned about his parent's first meeting.

I met your father through a black market slave auction. Felicidad replied.

Mom, you met my father at a black market slave auction? Rémi asked. Yes, I was forced into slavery. It wasn't the first time "they" sold me off and wouldn't be the last. Felicidad replied. Who are they? Rémi thought. He glanced at me with a slave collar on my neck. The auctioneer calls his bids and your father bought me. He thought I was beautiful as the moon glimmered on my hair and skin that night. Felicidad replied. Mom, who are they? Rémi asked. I will get to that, Jax. Felicidad replied. Your father nearly went broke purchasing me. They gave me to him. It surprised me he was actually nice to me at first. Then I found out he had a wife and he bought me to be his mistress. Felicidad replied. Now that sound like the scumbag father I know. Rémi replied. He fed me and let me bathe regularly. A year later, his wife found out about him buying me and found me pregnant with you. She wasn't willing to listen to me. Felicidad replied. Mom, so she kicked you out to the street? Rémi asked. Yes, and that's when your father was on the way to a divorce. He threated to kill me and you. He stepped on my face and stomped my stomach. Felicidad replied.

Rémi becomes vexed about what his mother was telling him.

I ran away from him.

A few months later, you were born. He found me and took you away from me. That's how you ended up in that twisted, perverted master. I have a feeling you killed him and his buddies. Felicidad replied. Yes, I killed him and every close advisor to him. I was going to kill his family next. Rémi replied. You say that with a straight face. I know things haven't been easy for the both of us. We found our form of happiness in love with another. Felicidad replied.

Jax, I know your exasperate about your father and what he did to me. Felicidad replied.

I know mom but dad doesn't wish for my happiness. He attacked a girl I have feelings for a few months ago. She lost her memories of her sister and the moments we shared. Rémi replied. What, he did that to you? Felicidad asked.

She hugged him.

Rémi cried.

Did she ever recover her memories? Felicidad asked. Yes, enough to talk to me with familiarity. Rémi replied. She's slowly gaining her memories we know of. Rémi replied. I'm glad. Felicidad replied. Mom, who is this "they" you spoke of? I asked. Your grandparents lived in the rural areas of Colombia. They were poor, living everyday paycheck by paycheck. Only way they could get out of the hole was trade your children for money. My father chose me. I was his only daughter. My older brother stayed. Felicidad replied. Mom, do you know if you had more siblings? Remi asked. I looked and I have two more brothers and one sister.

Raini and Kadri cried.

Your life is so tragic, Jax and mom. Raini replied. Yeah, you have overcome Felicidad. Kadri replied. That girl, I feel so bad for her. Raini replied. How long have you two been eavesdropping on us? Rémi asked. We were curious to where you two ran off to. Raini replied. Don't cry over me. Your father did the same thing when we were dating. Felicidad replied. I went on a journey and I found my long-lost son along the way. Felicidad replied. She kisses Rémi's cheek.

Almost forgot. My older brother actually got in contact with me. He wants my family and me to visit your grandparents in Cartagena. Wait. Colombian vacation I hear? Raini asked. Yes, Raini we are visiting Cartagena. Felicidad replied. Do you have your passport, Jax? Felicidad asked. Yes, I just renewed it. We have ours too. Raini replied. I have mine because my mother lives in Turkey. Kadri replied. I have my passport too. Raini replied. We can go on our trip then. Raini replied. What are you talking about, Raini? It involves money on these trips. Kadri replied. Kadri is right. Money is something you need. Rémi asked. So, mom can I get a job? Raini asked. No, you don't have the work ethnic yet. Felicidad replied. I've been working since I was sixteen years old. Rémi replied. Really, do you like it? Raini asked. You're too innocent. Back away. It's too radiant. Rémi replied.

She is still unfamiliar with the workforce. Kadri replied. Well, I work for a wealth guy. I do bodyguard work and sometimes heavy lifting. Rémi replied. At least it's a wealthy guy. I work for a firm on the weekends. Kadri replied. You're lucky. Your boss doesn't penalize you every time he has the chance. Rémi replied. You have it rough. Where do you live? Kadri asked. I live in the Bay Area. Rémi replied. Look at you for a bachelor living by himself. Kadri replied. Yeah yeah. Rémi replied.

I'm just glad to see my mom smile from all the abuse and stress she endured under my father. Rémi thought.
