"So this was it?" Leylin said as he observed the slash harkens. It had not shown any problems during the automatic diagnostics but he found out about the problem after the first slash harken clash.
With this move, Leylin had an estimate on how much power his slash harken still had.
"AI chip recalculate simulation in the background with newer enemy data and slash harken modification"
[Affirmative… new data integrated …. Chances of victory with no injuries: 90 % | Chance of victory with minor injury: 7% | Chance of victory with a major injury: 3%]
"Good now transfer the exchange to me"
[.... Done]
And then Leylin once again turned and moved left going around Guilford, who by now had his slash harken back in place.
"You won't get away, you were close, but it seems your hit missed. I will get you!" Guilford said. It seems he thought his slash harkens had missed.
Leylin moved around Guilford, who himself started turning towards Leylin, however, Leylin fired his slash harken again this time at the joints of his legs.
They hit the wiring but are unable to do enough damage to stop the Knightmare. Guilford meanwhile had turned and fired his own slash harken, which Leylin moved to dodge.
It was now like a game of dodgeball, with each side trying to hurt the other. Guilford was trying to hit Leylin at any spot, while Leylin aimed at Guilford's joints.
It seemed Leylin was winning, as he hit most of the time, while Guilford had yet to connect. But everyone knew that Guilford would only need one hit to win, while all of Leylin's hits had done little damage.
Suddenly Leylin turned and rushed towards Guilford, similar to last time. Once again Guilford did not have his slash harkens ready, but he was ready and he too ran towards Leylin baton ready, as he noticed Leylin's slash harken was also not reset yet.
"It seems you forgot your slash harken, now you lose" He shouted and he came closer.
Leylin got out his own baton and both went to hit each other. Leylin connected first and his baton hit Guilford's Glasgow's chest. This caused his hit to miss and him to stagger back.
Meanwhile, Leylin launched his now reset slash harkens again to Guilford's knee. By now the cables connecting the knees were at their breaking point so they snapped and suddenly Guilfords landspinners stopped, causing his Glasgow to topple.
And so the battle ended with Leylin's victory. Leylin having won despite having faulty slash harkens and Guilford not having been able to hit Leylin even once.
…...
"So it seems you'll get what you want, eh," Cornelia said as Leylin came out of the field.
"Of course, the slash harkens were a surprise, but it would seem justice would triumph," Leylin said smiling slyly.
Cornelia hit him on the head lightly as she said "For a second I thought, you might lose. But I am stuck with you for quite a lot more time."
"No sister, do introduce me to your soon-to-be knight. I must say I am intrigued." Schneizel said as he came approached them.
"Of course brother, as you know this is Leylin Franklin. And Leylin this is my brother Prince Schneizel."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, your highness. It brings me enormous joy that you would come to see this petty duel."
"Come now, this duel would decide who would be my dearest sister's knight. I am glad to say you don't disappoint. She has grown in the two years she spent at the academy, no longer just charging into whatever she may face. I am led to believe you helped her in this regard."
"Please your highness, Princess Cornelia has always had a knack for creating great plans. I just tried to make her use that talent more."
"Well, that's good to know. So, Cornelia, it seems you would be posted under Lady Marriane herself."
"What!! Really brother, but isn't she currently in the mainland."
"Correct, to be more precise you will be in charge of her security detail with the rank of Major. Now it would seem Leylin would follow you. As her knight, you are not in the direct chain of command of the military however directly under Cornelia. So all your orders will come from her and no one else. Well then, Sir Franklin I wish you the best of luck."
