Upon receiving the package from the delivery man, I hid the package underneath my desk, disguising it as a casual package from my "pen pal."
Dammit Ignacio, why me of all people? No, better yet, why risk yourself and the BLV to go this far?
As I was going back towards my duties, I heard a buzzing from my pants. It was my phone, and I picked it up. Speak of the devil.
"Did you get it?" Ignacio's voice was demanding. "The package?"
"Ah friend!" I spoke in a lying tone, not wanting to arouse any suspicion from my co-workers. "Yes, I have received your package."
"Good then." Ignacio spoke, seemingly understanding what I meant. "Now, I need you to enter one of the control rooms, I'm sure you know of such a place within the building."
"Yes it's been quite a while." I continued to lie. "One second friend, let me get a better connection." I took out my earphones from my backpocket, before I turned towards the door and going through the hallways, before I stopped at a balcony where the employees would kick back and relax. "Ignacio, this is suicide!"
"Yes Elotro, and meanwhile people are killing themselves to live during these times! Blue Moon or not! Is this not a form of serving your country? To give back?"
"Then explain to me why some people seem to be extremely hesitant!?" I said in a sarcastic tone.. "Oh wait, I know, it's because they're afraid! Do you have any idea what happens if I get caught there? Do you even have any consideration-"
"If you back off like the others then this nation will just let a new drug similar to Blue Moon damn pass, and risk others dying while the rich go on with their own lives, do things that are much more relevant to their own lives! Ever since you've joined the BLV we've only gotten very few new voices from Belmont! And not even a 1% of anyone outside of it! "
"I-"
"Elotro!" cried a voice. I turned the phone off and swiftly saw one of the employees opening the glass door leading to the balcony I was on. "Get down for an ambulance!"
"Ambulance?"
"One of the employees on the floor above us... Blue Moon."
"I gotta go." I closed the phone call, before following my colleague towards the elevators.
"I was told by Kyle the entire building's gonna have an examination."
"This damn idiot Elotro! Blame him!" my colleague spoke.
"What do we do?"
"People at the upper floor already called an ambulance, but they want us to make sure the ambulance is ready there."
"I'll go down." I said, feeling the need to help in spite of that employee's big mistake. I had no idea why he consumed Blue Moon, or where he got it, but it shouldn't be like this. I took out my keycard, and proceeded to take the elevators down. I soon arrived at the ground floor, where I heard the blaring noise of an ambulance from afar.
I rushed towards the front door.
