Keeper Of The Library

Isaac loved to read spending all of his free time reading and learning. His dream was to be able to work in a library but was unable to afford the years of college to achieve that dream. He worked at a grocery store making minimum wage and barely scraped by. All of that changed when he received a package in the mail. Image is not mine if it is yours and you would like me to remove it please do let me know. Also this is only my 2nd story so please be patient with me since I'm not the best writer.

(Isaac's POV)

Isaac woke up before everyone else and quickly went through his morning routine. He did some stretching before doing some light exercises then quickly headed to take a shower. Once he finished his shower Luke woke up.

Morning Isaac, how did you sleep?

"I slept fine but from the looks of it you need a few more hours."

Yeah you are definitely right about that. Luke stifled a yawn before heading to the bathroom to get ready. As he did that Isaac went and made some breakfast for himself. Luke soon joined him and they chatted while eating before heading off to their classes. Walking to school was quiet as all of the students were sleepy and didn't wanna talk much. The walk took around 10 minutes and Luke showed Isaac to his classroom before heading towards his own.

Class was really boring as it was just math and science classes which Isaac didn't need to pay too much attention to since he already has knowledge on these subjects. Instead he secretly tried to cast a detection spell to see if anyone else had the curse mark. He gathered the mana into the tip of his finger before drawing the runes for the detection spell on his desk. The runes don't need to be permanent, they just need to be drawn connecting to each other and for Isaac to give the command for the spell to be finished. As he drew the runes he had to make sure nobody saw what he was doing as a faint glowing mark was currently left on the desk. Once the spell was finished the mark would vanish though. Soon he finished his spell as he quickly cast the spell [Curse Detection]. As he spoke a faint wave of origin energy spread around the room. A few people looked around in confusion feeling as if a breeze passed through the room but quickly brushed it off and went back to taking notes.

"Hmm nobody in this class has the mark. I wonder if Val had much luck."

(Valkyr's POV)

Going through the same routine as Isaac Val soon found himself in class as he was also trying to cast a spell. SInce his spells require speaking he had to wait for the teacher to speak loudly. In the meantime he gathered the origin energy into his hand waiting for the right time. FInally the time came as the teacher reprimanded two students who were talking. Val quickly whispered [Detect cursed ones in this room]. The wave of origin energy obeyed his words spreading around the room and returning to him with the infor. In his mind he saw a girl glowing with a faint light along with himself. He made sure to remember her as he wrote out a note telling her to meet him by a tree outside the gymnasium after school. He also drew the symbol of the breaking ankh with the ring around it on the bottom of the note. He folded it up and thought of a way to discreetly deliver it to her. Once the bell rang for lunch he waited for her to walk out of the room before leaving it on her desk. He headed towards the lunch room to meet up with Luke, Edgar, and Isaac.

(Isaac's POV)

Heading to lunch he quickly grabbed his meal. It was steak, potatoes and some roasted vegetables. He soon saw Edgar and Luke and soon joined them at their small table.

"Did anyone see anyone with the mark?"

Luke nodded and spoke. There is a girl in my class, I saw the mark on the back of her neck. I'm shocked I never noticed it before. How about you?

Edgar and Isaac shook their heads in reply. Soon Val joined them and explained that he saw one of the people and slipped her a note.

"That's pretty smart, can you write one for Luke since he found one too. Would be good to set up a meeting for both of them at the same time."

Val quickly wrote out the same note before passing it to Luke. Now let's just hope they come to the meeting. Soon lunch was over and they headed back to their classes. They only had one class left and it was history. Isaac paid a lot of attention to this class hoping to learn more about the school but sadly they didn't give much info on the school.

An hour later the bell rang as Isaac headed out to the meeting spot. He saw Val, Edgar and Luke waiting for him there.

"Hey sorry for being late I got a little lost."

It's fine Luke said, nobody has shown up yet.

"Well hopefully they do."

The 4 of them stood around for around 30 minutes before they saw 2 girls heading towards them holding the notes in their hands. One was blonde haired and the other was red haired. The blonde haired girl spoke.

Hey are you the ones who left us these? She sounded extremely angry. Val stepped forward and explained.

Yes we are the ones who sent them to you.

Great! Then I'm gonna kick your ass for bothering me! The blonde haired girl charged towards Val before throwing a fist at his face.

Melissa, stop it! The red haired girl seemed quite meek and afraid.

The blonde haired girl who they figured was Meliss didn't stop and threw the punch which Val quickly caught.

Well someone is quite rash don't you think Val said while smirking. We just wanted to talk since you were cursed too but if you need me to teach you a lesson I will.

Melissa ignored his words before trying to kick him but before it could connect Isaac appeared next to her grabbing her leg. He was letting out a dense killing intent that caused everyone to step back and Melissa to collapse to the ground in fear.

"Val let me break her legs." Isaac gripped her leg tighter causing her to cry out in pain.

Isaac stop it. Val placed his hand on Isaac's shoulder and pulled him back.

"But she tried to hurt you so she must pay." Isaac's eyes began to change into his fox eyes, scaring everyone else even more.

It's fine, Val said. She wouldn't hurt me. I was about to dodge before you intervened. Calm down Isaac.

Taking a deep breath Isaac's killing intent slowly vanished as his eyes went back to their normal hazel.

Sorry about my brother's reaction, Val said. He is just very protective of me. We called you out here to talk because we are also cursed and wanted to get your help on getting through this. We didn't put any info into the note in case someone came across it since only those with the curse mark would know what it means.

Melissa and the red haired girl both nodded. Sorry for overreacting Melissa said while getting up off of the ground with shaky legs.

"Have you two found the secret tunnels in your houses?"

No we haven't, the red haired girl said. By the way my name is Suzie. Can you tell us yours?

Sure Val said. I am Valkyr, this is my brother Isaac. Over there is Edgar and Luke he said pointing to each of them respectively. Since you haven't found the secret tunnels then we should be able to open them up from the other end of the tunnel.

Luke then stepped forward and spoke. So we should probably do it tonight when nobody should be awake. That way we can show you the way to open the secret passage.

Edgar spoke next. We should also let Mr. Owens know about this so we will have all of the marked in the chamber at the same time.

All of them nodded before splitting up and heading back to their dorm houses. But before Melissa and Suzie walked away Isaac approached them.

"I am really sorry about what happened. I have trouble controlling my emotions when it comes to my brother. I know it's no excuse but I will do my best to make sure it never happens again."

Melissa and Suzie accepted the apology before rushing off.
