Chapter 6

As Mara and I finished putting on our new training uniforms Sister Agatha came and escorted us to the training grounds where Tibil and Brutus were awaiting us. "You both will be training with our best swordsman and Incantation specialist. Mara you'll be with Tibil practicing your swordsmanship. Brutus you'll be with Jehanne." Brutus scoffed and sneered as he shouted: "I'll be damned! If I'm training this farm girl you might as well kick me out of the Order!" "You...." Sister Agatha held up her hand to stop me before I could rebuttal. Sister Agatha walked up to Brutus and she looked up at him and she said this: "As long as I'm second in command you will do as I say. You may leave the Order of your volition but I will no longer take disrespectful and rude comments not just in these halls but outside as well not just to Jehanne but any other new trainee for the next time you speak of blasphemy around me or I hear bout it you will have to deal with me. Now, you will train Jehanne. Or would you like to continue to be stubborn?"

"N-No Sister Agatha..." Brutus looked away scared and embarrassed. "Good well, I'll leave you to it. Good luck Jehanne and you as well Mara." Sister Agatha walked away. Mara leaned over to me and whispered: "Did you feel the cold shudder down your spine when she got on Brutus?" "You got a cold shudder? I felt like the gravity on Earth was going to shatter." A nervous hearty laugh bellowed from Tibil.

"She scared the shit out of you Brutus." "Shu-Shut up Tibil, I wasn't scared I was caught off guard." Tibil laughed even harder as he slapped Brutus's back. "You nearly collapsed at the pressure of her Faith." "You know just how frightening Sister Agatha can be!" "Yeah, don't remind me..." Mara and Tibil went to the other side of the training grounds as me and Brutus stayed where we were at. "First, I want you to concentrate on me with your eyes." "I am...." "Not your actual eyes but the Eyes of Eden." "I don't know how to just turn them on and off like an oil lantern I just awakened with them in times of extreme distress." "Perhaps, or is it when the ones you care about are in danger like Tibil or perhaps your mother?" A memory of that night flashed into my mind I broke down crying that's when Mara and Tibil stopped their training to run to my side that's when Brutus stopped them.

"What in the nine hells are you doing Brutus!" "If you continue to run to her aid she'll never progress. This is part of her training...She needs this pain in order to get to where her potential is meant to be." "That's right! You were too weak, too proud to save your poor mother and father! You can never be anything but a worthless farm girl! Now you will wallow in a pit of despair and loneliness! Who's next to die at your watch? Your best friend? Tibil? Me? Sister Agatha? or perhaps Prince Charles!" Something just snapped in me at the thought of losing Prince Charles and I could feel a mixture of emotions explode out of me. I turned and looked at Brutus as I began to stand up and wipe my tears.

"Excellent work farm girl." I saw a slight smirk of pride faintly fall across his face. "Your next step is to focus on me. Focus on my Faith Network and find my weak points." I began to focus on Brutus as he said and I could see his entire faith network and I focused even harder to see where his weak points lie within him. "Have you done it?" "I have..." I began to breathe heavily as I felt my Faith starting to deplete fast. (She's starting to breathe heavily... The Eyes of Eden atop of her emotional outburst must be disrupting her concentration... Or could it be that it uses up too much Faith?" "Perhaps we should call it for now at least, farm girl." "No! I can continue." "Don't over exert yourself; farm girl. Just take a rest you need time to grieve but also recoup." "I can't stop until...." I passed out. Brutus caught Jehanne as he shook his head. (She truly reminds me of you...) Brutus began to carry Jehanne back to her quarters.
