Decomposition and discoveries

Simon drew a circle with runes on a sheet and then placed a small stone on it. After almost a year of studying, he finally believed he was ready to decompose matter, at least inorganic matter.

If he were in the FMA world and the fact that he was able to perform alchemy at such a young age was public knowledge, it would undoubtedly cause him to be forced to become a federal alchemist. Or a lab rat.

Letting go of these thoughts, Simon closed his eyes and began the great step of performing alchemy, utilizing dystrophic energy. This was the most difficult and complex part of understanding.

Memorizing chemical formulas and atomic numbers of the elements, although difficult, is not impossible and with a lot of study, many can achieve it. Yet, why are there so few federal alchemists in the FMA universe? Simple, most cannot feel or use dystrophic energy.

This energy is generated from the movement of tectonic plates, and transmutation is carried out through it. It is also called the Alchemy of Amestris and is mainly used in the manipulation of matter as a scientific tool.

The other type is called Alcahestria, which uses the energy present on the earth, or natural energy, or QI, and is mainly aimed at carrying out medical treatment or regenerating injuries in users.

Of course, it is still very effective to be used in combat if it is made by an experienced alchemist like May Chang, who, although younger than the Elric brothers, was still an experienced fighter and incredible user of the Alcahestria.

Feeling a strange energy coming from the ground, Simon placed his hands on the leaf and tried to channel it into the circle. After a while, he noticed that the circle glowed slightly, and small sparks came out of it, gradually destroying the stone and turning it into dust.

- Successful

Looking at the sand on the leaf, Simon smiled brightly before repeating the same process. Taking out some stones from a small bag, he started to break them down one by one, but when he was halfway through, he stopped.

Passing his hand across his forehead, Simon saw that he was quite sweaty. He also finally noticed that he was a little breathless and dizzy. Which shouldn't happen.

- "What is that? Did I do something wrong? No, my process is correct. So...Why?"

Picking up another stone, Simon carried out the decomposition process once more, but this time he focused on any additional changes. Sensing the dystrophic energy, Simon noticed a strange energy within his body arising and merging with the dystrophic energy, but the amount was so small that it did not cause visible changes during the process.

- What is that? Ed and Al don't have any knowledge about this, not even a clue.

Looking at the clock next to the table, Simon saw that it was already almost 1am. Without thinking too much, he put away his notes that were scattered around and cleaned the dust from the table before going to bed.

The next day, Simon went to play with the children after breakfast while trying to feel the energy from the night before, but unfortunately he was unsuccessful.

Smiling, Simon patiently waited for night to arrive, so he could put his assumptions to the test and see how he could use this new unknown energy to increase the level of his alchemy. At night, Simon continued his experiments, decomposing different types of inorganic materials while feeling the energy within him move each time he performed the process.

And just as he thought, although the energy could intertwine with the dystrophic energy, it was completely different from it, and in fact, it was closer to the ALcahestria, but it still had a difference that he couldn't identify. The process of decomposing materials lasted one week, and during this period, Simon noticed two important things.

The first was that he could prevent this energy from interfering with the use of alchemy, and when that happened, decomposition occurred normally. It seemed like it had no purpose other than making Simon tired, but that's when he discovered a second thing.

He could use this energy to activate transmutation circles at a certain distance, and that should be impossible. In the original work, everyone must be in direct contact with the transmutation circles; although those who dared to carry out human transmutation could use alchemy without their use, it was because their own bodies became a direct channeler of it, that is, they became an organic circle of transmutation so to speak.

Writing down his new discoveries in his little notebook, Simon began to wonder how far he could take alchemy in this new world. His goals began to change again, and he slowly became unsure of what exactly he wanted.

Simon had this problem with him, so much knowledge and power were slowly accumulating in his hands, and with that, he felt that just fusing the three types of alchemy and creating a perfect philosopher's stone seemed like such... simple and unsatisfactory goals.

He began to desire more, but he didn't know what that more was.

As Simon thought about what other goal he could achieve, an old and majestic castle, located on a small mountain, stood silently, giving an air of solemnity and mystery. Inside a small room, located in an old locked tower, there were two distinct objects, a thick book, with a cover made of the leather of an unknown animal and a quill with its tip inside an inkwell.

Suddenly, the feather shook slightly and began to float on its own, before approaching the book, which opened on its own and began to flip through the pages until it stopped on a page with several names written on it. Just below the last name of the feather was a name: Simon Morgan.
