The anatomy of a geodude

As our protagonist and his tame look at their comrade's fiery grave with grief and curiosity, the sound of glass cracking engulfed their ears.

As Cyrus stood up for a closer expectation and to protect mimikyu the sphere cracked and creaked as steam released through the gaps.

Then a familiar roar filled with determination resounded through the cavern with might.

<GEODUDE!> A dark silhouette formed inside the visage of burning magma.

The dark figure roared once more before coiling its fist back and striking it forward at the sphere of its confinement.

(POV- Cyrus)

A gong like clang resounded through the cavern as realization hit me (He's alive!) I thought with joy and surprise.

Then before me and mimikyu could do anything an orchestra of clangs and bangs began.

We watched with amazement as the sphere started cracking and lava seeped through.

Then as realization struck me I grab the little slime and duck down facing away from the sphere using my body as a shield as the red orb erupted raining blobs of melted rock everywhere.

I then felt my instincts take over as I released my mana and created large amounts of water molded into a barrier around us before freezing it truing it into a dome of ice.

After a few seconds of loud crashes and rumbling vibrations, the dome of ice gradually collapsed as we were exited unscathed.

I looked at where the mini sun was and saw a multicolored floating geodude curled up into a ball.

Me and mimikyu ran towards the descending rock with hast… well jumped and crawled for mimikyu.

Then, just before we reached him he uncurled revealing his new appearance, and posed as if he was a character from Jojo's bizarre adventure.

I quicken my pace as I ball my hand and coiled it back with an irritated look on my face.

The same went for mimikyu who created a fist of shadows.

<Due to the host and mimikyu being allies damage will be nullified to zero but the pain will not be nullified.>

We then simultaneously punched him in the face as we shouted with tears in our eyes and irritation laced in our tone.

"DO YOU KNOW HOW SCARED WE WERE AFTER YOU MELTED AND THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS IMITATE A FUCKING JOJO'S CHARACTER!" I shout as I grab his shoulders and shake him like a fucking maraca.

^EO GEO DIO GEODUDE^ I hear it protest.

After I was done shaking him I hug the sentient rock with relief as tears flowed down my face.

Then when I stopped hugging him I placed him on the floor and let the angry and still very teary mimikyu have a go on him.

^MIMI! MI YU ME KYU!^ I hear mimikyu chew him out as he made two shadow hands and shook him like a maraca just as I did.

{Author here, that roughly translates to: You bastard! You dare eat the rock I was sleeping on, spontaneously combust into magma without warning, make us think you died, and dare pose as if you have something to be proud of after all that!}

I look at this spectacle and wipe a tear off my eye "They grow up so fast…" I murmured before I turn my attention elsewhere.

Mimikyu then started slapping, backhanding, tossing him like a rag doll, spanking the back of geodudes head as if he was bald and so much more while I disused what the hell happened with Lyra.

"So mind explaining what happened?" I ask coldly.

<Oh so now you notice me?> She said with irritation.

"What the hell do you mean by that?" I question Lyra coldly.

<Oh I don't know me trying to tell you to stop and calm down so I can explain and you don't screw up the process! But no your dumbass didn't listen no matter what and had to mess the process up!> She stated with anger.

"The process of which my companion fucking melts!" I shout with anger.

<Look at geodude…> Lyra said with concern.

"I am looking." I said while examining the geodude pleading for mercy against mimikyu.

<JUST LOOK AT HIM! ALL THE ROCKS JUTTING OUT OF HIM THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!> Lyra shouted with fear and anger.

"Elaborate…" I say with surprise at her fear and concern for what happened to geodude.

I hear her try calming herself down with deep breaths.

<First of all are you aware of what subspecies and variants are?> She said calmly.

I take a deep breath as well to calm myself down before answering.

"I'm slightly familiar with the term but not well endowed." I said with slight curiosity.

"In chemistry and technology, not biology." I stated with a slight smile while rolling my eyes at Lyra returning to her usual teasing self.

<Well let's start with subspecies first.> I hear her say with seriousness.

Once their done with this process and reform they are visually the same besides a slightly different tone in color or their body has a different texture. They obtain the material's durability strength etc. but also gain certain aspects of whatever they ate. An example is if they absorbed gold they will gain the gold's conductivity to electricity.>

<Now onto variants. Variants usually don't have any genetic differences to their species and their genetics are practically the same in the genetics department. But what makes them different from others of its kind is the external factors they have experienced throughout their life that have forced the specimen to adapt to said factors and make semi-permanent or permanent changes in the body to better deal with the factors.
