I stood up from my chair and walked towards Cassie, everyone in the room was nervous except Mr. Stark. Mostly because he knows what I am capable of. I went behind her and touched her shoulder calves, her body as thick as a log. Her muscles felt like I was touching carbon fibre rods from my world, they were stiff. I activated my mind stone and concentrated on her body to find any abnormality. What I found was the same as what I said. Her soul is in a sorry state, of course, I cannot know the exact details since I don't have the soul stone yet. What I can see is her mind is disoriented, the way a person's mind is at a moment can give us more information than you think.
"her soul is damaged pretty bad. I don't know how she is able to even walk. From what I can see she will be dead in a year at best." My report made them all clean their eyes except Cassie. Katie started to tear up and her face became red. "why do you have to be a hero" she said in calm with a tinge of anger. Cassie sighed and pulled her sister, "Listen the world needs me and my idol is a hero who saves people with a smile. I promise you, from today we will enjoy every frame of our life." She said calming Katie. "are you planning to retire" Dale asked. Cassie shook her head "Not a complete retirement but I will take a leave more often.", President Benjamin observed their discussion without commenting on the problem.
"so, what is the price this time?" asked Timothy looking at me. "what are you talking about?" I answered with a shrug. Everyone came to their senses, especially Katie "That's right, Kaneki if you can see the problem. You must have a solution as well" she said with hopeful eyes. "that's right name the price, you can have anything you want. I will appoint you as the next Number one hero. Cassie has been with us for decades; her life is more important than the number one spot." the president asked. Cassie quickly followed up with her offer "That's right I value my life more than the spotlight. I want to live; I am the only one left for my sister. I will also teach you everything I know, which doesn't involve using our quirk.".
"how should I put this just because I can see something doesn't mean that I can interact with it. For example, I can use the reflection on a pool of water to aim at a flying object but that doesn't mean that I can kill It. Mr. Stark, can you help me here? "I said, Mr. Stark looked right and left "Me, "he said. I nodded; he then corrected his bowtie "From what he its seems that he interacted with other elements. "in all this conversation, you never told once that you can't cure her" Dale pointed out, "that's right, does that mean you can cure and just don't want to" Benjamin used his political speech on me. "the price is expensive" I finally said. "I knew it, you bastard. You are a golden goose. I am glad that I recruited you, instead of that Todaroki kid." Timothy said which made me twitch "You planned to recruit him and not Momo, " I said groaning softly. "so what's the price, an island, money or authority? better yet my body" said Katie with a sarcastic tone. Cassie knocked her head "Your body is not a showpiece.". "now that we know that you are willing to sell. We are willing to buy. Tell us your price" asked Dale the IIG [international information gathering] guy. I took a deep breath "I need time".
The whole room went to another round of silence "What do mean by time? Does your therapy take more time than usual" asked Mr Stark. "no Mister Stark, I don't have the right equipment for the treatment so I would need some time" I replied. "don't worry kid anything you want can be yours, we at the IIG know everything that is ever made in this world." Said Dale with a proud smile. "that's right the IIG can track down any information you want. They have the most powerful satellite and spy tech. you can just name the thing and it will be on your hand by morning" said Benjamin. I shook my head "It's not something you can get in this world, I will search for it on my own." I replied. both the president and IIG general were not happy with my words, I could see their face becoming red but they had the same smile. Creepy. "how much time will it take" Timothy asked his question. "it will take months, maybe even years." I answered flatly. Katie pulled my collar "My offer still stands, please help my sister", I nodded "I will but It will take some time. Keep that in mind.". after my reply everyone relaxed "Thank you for always helping me" said Cassie.
I sat in my seat and watched as Timothy started to discuss the next topic. "Hada a student of Stark Academy has been killed. As of now, we assume that it's the same parasite attack which killed many people across the USA. It also threatened Kaneki in his travel." He said and clicked the projector "Have a look at this " he said pointing at the projector. I saw a person whose torso was torn, and suddenly metal wires came out shooting from his torn gut. The metal wires immediately broke the camera and the film glitched out. I still remember the pattern of the metal rods which attacked us. It was the same pattern. "as of now we don't have much information except it may be a parasite from the warp gate which opened a week ago. We also suspect this might be a villain attack." He said correcting his papers.
"I think we must let it play out to find what this is, without the intel, we can't make an informed decision" President Trump said. Since this is not my area of expertise I did not participate in the conversation.
"I agree with you even though it is harmful, without the data we cannot jump into a solution. Let's hope we can figure out what this " said Dale. "now that we have talked about this, the final one on our agenda is the reward ceremony for Kaneki"
