Chapter 9: The first domino fall

I arrived at the mansion and when I learned what had happened, I could only think one thing. Is it Christmas already?

I saw Scott lying on a hospital bed bandage covering his eyes. After I assimilated the mind stone, I could peek into another's mind without them noticing. This is due to a mix of my mind block shielding my presence and the mind stone ability. I would have used this to learn what had happened if not for Bobby telling me first.

Scott cheated on Jean with Emma Frost. I can already guess what happened. Scott must have felt insecure about Jean since things were not going so well and she spent less time with him. He did not know that it was due to her fighting the Phoenix force with the help of the professor. Emma, who had a crush on Scott, used this chance to sow the seed of doubt in his mind. The sad part is that she did not even use her powers, just words were enough. To bring his insecurities to the surface.

One thing led to another and since Jean had cheated on me with him, he figured she would do the same to him. He thought that she would have second doubts and go back to me. Emma was there to console him in his time of need. The past was repeated. Scott started having an affair with Emma which stayed a secret for a while until logan came back and smelled the secret affair. I also had smelled that Jean and Scott smelled like each other when I had returned to the mansion before. I did not want to believe it at that time.

Logan had been out for a while and thought that Jean and Scott had broken up. When he accidentally brought the subject to Jean, he realized that was not the case. She flew in a fit of rage as she could not control the Phoenix forces when she went to get an explanation from Scott. Thanks to Scott passively sharing his mind with her she did not need one.

She temporally went all Dark Phoenix from X-men 3 on Scott before professor X calmed her. All the years I spend siphoning the Phoenix force made her condition more stable than it should be at this time.

She had only begone to show signs recently. Even if Charles acted quickly, Scott lost his eyes, which he unknowingly had pride in. When I learned that I kept a calm face outside but inside I was doing the tom cruise meme laugh.

This was a karmic situation. I went to talk to the professor but when I entered his room, I found that Jean, Rogue, Kitty, Beast, and Logan were also there. I spoke first.

"Seeing what happened to Scott, I guess the mental restraints are getting loose."

Charles responded.

"Yes, but I found something weird."

Everyone looked at me.

"What did you find?"

I said while looking at him.

"Miss Grey had reported that IT has recently become violent. Something peculiar as IT had remained silent for many years. I have traced the start of IT violence to roughly after you and Miss Jean parted ways."

"And you think I have something to do with this? Well, it's technically true."

This shocked everyone and Jean did not know how to feel. Charles continued our conversation.

"I understand that you may have ill feelings for Miss Jean but that does not mean it is justified to endanger her life as well as others near her."

"I didn't do anything to Jean after I left. 'This confused everyone.' What I mean by technically is that I'm the reason it stayed quiet for all these years. After telling you two that she should learn to control IT for years and you two not listening, I got tired of that and took things into my own hands it works as she stopped getting a headache. I kept doing it and it kept working. Now that I stopped nothing is stopping IT from rampaging to freedom. I warned you countless times to let Jean try to fight IT, but you thought she was not capable and now that she is unprepared that might very well be the case. 'Everyone looked at Charles, they knew I had no reason to lie. Kitty was about to ask me something when I spoke first.' Before you even ask, I erased my feelings for Jean which means that if I were to do what I did before I would be fighting half-assedly. I would be safe with my mental block, but she won't because I will not have her well-being at heart."

We talk for a while, and it was decided that Charles would help Jean and if worse come to worse I would be called to help Jean. I accepted because I would use this chance to absorb the full Phoenix force. This was more beneficial to me than her misery. She had already given me the best laugh I had in years. I was still vulnerable to many beings and being able to revive myself outweighed anything pain she had caused me. Before leaving, I talked to Jean alone.

I went back to my home where I had gathered the program Hydra planned to use in Captain America Winter Soldier. Thanks to my powers, they underestimate my intelligence. I had placed a Hydra agent, that I had hypnotized with the mind stone's power, to install a flash drive into their main frame. This would allow it to copy everything without being noticed. I would recreate the program with Kryptonian technology which will boost its efficiency.

I was still trying to locate the savage land. I could fly there but I was gone for too long and the government has upped its surveillance on me. I could easily evade them or even destroy them but it's best to give them the illusion of control even if it's a small one. There is no easier enemy to defeat than one who thinks he has already won.

A few months passed by and surprisingly, I slept with another woman. The surprise is who it was. It was Rogue. I had used the power of the reality and mind stones, in me, to make her siphoning power controllable. She was over the moon and started finding any reason to see me. I told her upfront that I thought that we were not compatible but if she wanted to give it a go I would too. She said yes and we started dating for a while. The sex was great. I am not sure if it's a marvel universe thing or if It's just me but there is never a time where either never finishes unsatisfied. Sadly, we realize that we had very little in common and a relationship that only relies on sex to function can fall at any moment. We left on good terms since we agreed that it was going nowhere. I guess that she got what she wanted in the end. I could feel that she was going to brag at the mansion. I was popular there and she still did not like Jean.

----In a cabin-------

Fury was gathering his stuff. Hydra had failed to take over the world but that did not mean they were done. He was about to finish burning every trace that could lead to him when he saw a light in the window. He pulled his gun ready to shoot but stopped when he saw who entered. It was Carol Danvers, known as Captain Marvel. She had given him a pager to call her for help, but he remembered not activating it thus he was still on guard.

She had a worried look and spoke. "Fury! I have some bad news! 'Fury's gut told her she was real thus he lower the gun but still kept his finger on the trigger.' The Kree is coming here for a full invasion!"
