Going to College

Chapter 2

Next month came like a flash. Bradley hurry up we are late, mum calls out. I walked passed my drunk father and discover he is half-dead as usual. Gosh! I hate men that drinks.

I packed my things into mum's car and we zoomed out of the "Hell of a House". The journey was smooth and filled with fun as mum drives playing a record of, ASA, a popular Nigeria Jazz singer. I mimed to it and danced. That's mum's favourite, she got to meet ASA in her college days and since then, she stuck to only this song. The atmosphere in the car was like that of a darkroom, only you knows what you're doing. Mum is busy with her mindset, can't really guess what she's thinking but I left her to be, while I keep to my own world of thinking what I'll meet in college. My mind kept digressing to the college way of life, since I wasn't familiar with it and as my parents only child, I had no elder sibling who have experienced it. I wondered if the girls and boys there would be taller or a bit shorter or same height with me. Then thought of mingling and visiting nice places, as I do hear my friends in school talk about their elderly ones who are in college and do have enough time to visit nice places like parks, etc. I wonder how many subjects they do in a day. That was how I slept off. Mum didn't notice until we entered the college gate and she needed the pass(an entry ticket) from her purse. She woke me up and gave the pass to the security manager, while we set in. Mum pulled up in the parking lot and I offloaded. I looked around and no one seems to notice me. I moved to the hostel where I met my homeroom teacher who will take over from mum as my keeper. I didn't like this idea much but I have no choice. I then realize I'll miss my family. Though a "Hell of a House" but it's family anyways and it's my home. No where like home they say.
