Immortals: The Curse of Samsara

"You have all the power in the world. The money, the strength, the charm. But what does it matter, when you are fated to a life of eternal misery? To repeatedly live a loveless life? Wherein everyone - and everything - you love dies and fades away with time?" For as long as Jason can remember, he has been a killer. Raised as a child soldier, he was trained in the arts of murder as a mercenary, an assassin, and a bodyguard. In short, his life was anything but dull. Yet his greatest wish was to live a normal life, date a normal girl, have a moment to breathe and relax. His wish was to be a normal boy, no, a real boy and not some weapon. But his thirst for strength led him to the path of both the scientifically psychic world and the mystically supernatural world. One day, he is entrusted to protect a young girl whose entire family was murdered. Two years after taking her as his sister, Jason tries to lead a life that's as normal as possible in the most technologically advanced city in the world, Sanctuary. However his newfound freedom is threatened when his past comes to haunt him, and his hunger to join the extraordinary life once more begins to consume him. As enemies from both the worlds of supernatural and science come crashing down upon him, Jason must make a choice, and choose which life he'd rather have. An uneventful, normal life. Or the life of the impossible, where dog eats dog, and only the strongest survive. "There are no good people or bad people. No heroes, no villains. Just people. People doing what they believe is right. From their perspective. Their experience. Their upbringing. Their nature. Their nurture. But there are monsters out there ... monsters who just want to watch the world burn. Wanna guess which one I am?" Cover art commissioned by me and made by ArtofLariz from DeviantArt. Warning: This is an 18+ novel with detailed violence and mature scenes. Spoiler-not-a-spoiler: The story will eventually leave the urban fantasy setting and head into high fantasy. Because of this, supporting characters may be written out as the story progresses forward, so please don't get too attached. (Possible side-effects to attachment may include crying in public and blaming ninjas, swearing out loud in a bus, smashing your pc's keyboard, or chucking your phone at the wall and almost hitting your mom. Chapter 5.1

The next day, Alina walked into class with a sore body and noticed everyone sitting on their desks, exhausted. Alina sat down smoothly, ignoring the jabs of pain her body screamed at her with while slightly clenching the back of her teeth.

"Morning guys," Alina said to Asami and Michelle, both of whom acknowledged her greeting while continuing their business. Asami was currently practicing her Lay-Fu as she lied down headfirst on her desk while Michelle was standing near her own desk, stretching her body.

"Thank god we don't have combat class today," Asami moaned from between her arms.

"Dommage, it was good training," said Michelle as she performed a kneeling lunge. Her comment made Asami turn her head and look at her grudgingly. The two began exchanging snarky comments when a commotion near the front seats occurred.

A rough looking guy had grabbed a timid looking classmate by the front of his shirt and was yelling at him for simply bumping into him. The bully was wearing an athletic undershirt underneath his uniform jacket and messy dirty blonde hair which was clearly dyed. As he raised a fist to punch the poor boy, Alina stood up and shot a flicker of electricity at the aggressive guy, stopping him.

"You're too loud," she said calmly. "Shut it."

"Who the- ?" the blonde guy exclaimed as he turned to look at Alina. "Bitch, this is none of your business!"

"Oh?" said Alina with a wicked grin while cracking her knuckles, causing both Michelle and Asami to sigh. Her eyes flashed with anger at being called a bitch.

"You wanna stop her?" asked Asami to Michelle.

"Non, je préfère ne pas m'impliquer," replied Michelle, shaking her head.

A second later, the blonde guy was smashed through the classroom doors, shattering them as he flew into the corridor. Alina stepped out of the classroom and walked towards him while he tried getting up. Alina kicked him back to the floor then slammed her knee into his throat while using a current to paralyze him.

"You know what I love? Bullying bullies. There's something satisfying about crushing them like ants. I dunno why, I blame Jason for teaching me that. But do you what I can't stand even more? Dumbasses swearing at me. Makes me wanna shock'em out of swearing. So what do say, big guy? Ready for some electrotherapy?" Alina asked as she lifted her electrified hand towards his head.

"Uh, think we should stop her now?" asked Asami.

"Oui," nodded Michelle.

"So ... why aren't you moving?"

"Les dames d'abord,"

"Yeah, not gonna happen,"

As the two argued on who should stop Alina, a few students wearing uniforms with glowing teal outlines approached and surrounded her. Michelle swore under her breath while Asami sighed.

"Great, it's the council's brigade," muttered Asami as one of the newcomers stepped forward.

"Alina Sage? Correctional student Olivia Smith, you are wanted for questioning involving an assault on a fellow student, please follow us," a girl with strawberry blonde hair with her arm raised at Alina said while stepping forwards before turning to Asami. "You as well, Chiba Asami."

"Oh? If I don't go along with you?" asked Alina with a smirk. The new girl, Olivia, turned to look at her with gritted teeth.

"Then we'll make you come along," she replied as a ball of ice formed in her hand, out of a magical circle.

"Hey now, that sounds like fun," sniggered Alina as the other correctional students prepared themselves with spells and abilities. However, before anyone noticed, streaks of electricity snaked towards them all from the floor, paralyzing them. Only Olivia managed to dodge the attack, turning to look at Alina in anger.

"Alright, I'll come along. Lead the way, officer," Allina said, empathizing the last word mockingly as she raised her arms to surrender.
