Chapter 5

Drake needed resources, he needed to find out how powerful his mind control was before entering battle because if none of these people could conquer the first floor, then the boss must be a strong ass motherfucker.

Drake looked at Anthea, he couldn't help but admire her tits because, on the contrary, they looked quite juicy.

He didn't know how the Spartans were but he had seen how they were portrayed in the media, he had seen a female one.

She had to be an exception and Drake was interested in knowing just how and why she became one.

"Are you okay?" Anthea asked but Drake quickly averted his gaze from her breasts.

"I don't think so," Drake said, dramatically holding his head.

"I don't do well in crowds, is there somewhere more private we can?" Drake inquired.

Anthea looked left and right, this constituted an emergency and she didn't want any harm to befall her new partner.

She grabbed Drake by the arm and dragged him into a different compartment.

Drake hadn't anticipated such an exaggerated reaction from Anthea; he found it a bit excessive in his opinion. However, she managed to locate a secluded spot for Drake. It was clear to him that now was the ideal moment to test his mind control abilities.

As he settled on the floor with Anthea looking on, he couldn't help but notice a tantalizing glimpse of her underboob, leaving him curious about the sight concealed beneath her armor. Drake understood that he needed to maintain self-control, at least for the time being. For some inexplicable reason, he possessed an instinctive understanding of how to wield his powers. It felt as natural as breathing to him.

With a desire to test his abilities on Anthea, he made an attempt, but the outcome was disheartening:

[Mind control failed!]. This outcome aligned with the advice he had received earlier from the lady he had encountered. There was a simple reason for his failure—he lacked the power to control Anthea.

Anthea was undeniably stronger than him; there was no way Drake could be more powerful than someone who had not only repeatedly survived confrontations with the boss but had also been in this realm long before his birth. Though he was frustrated by this development, Drake understood that he had to come to terms with it.

"Anthea, could you provide some insights about the boss?" Drake inquired, quickly giving up his attempts to use his power on her.

"The boss is a formidable oni-demon, possessing the physical strength of a hundred men. Unfortunately, sheer strength alone won't suffice to defeat him, as no weapon appears capable of injuring him," Anthea explained, deepening Drake's dread about the impending encounter.

"You're afraid?" Anthea asked, discerning his fear with a single glance.

"I won't deny it, it terrifies me," Drake admitted to her, seeing no reason to conceal his fear. He wanted her to know, and Anthea responded by embracing him, with Drake's head nestled between her cleavage. The smile on his face conveyed anything but fear.

"I won't let him hurt you, I promise," Anthea reassured him, and Drake found her words comforting, along with her ample bosom.

Hours passed in this world, where there was no distinction between night and day, rendering time irrelevant. Drake understood this and realized that his situation could have been far worse. What if he had encountered someone with nefarious intentions instead?

He couldn't dismiss that possibility just yet. He remained unsure why Anthea had been the sole survivor of each trial and had been here for such an extended period. Drake could only imagine how many partners she had lost, and he had no intentions of becoming a statistic.

"How about we seek out others to join our cause? The more we have, the greater our chances of success," Drake suggested. If a single partner didn't work out, this seemed like the ideal solution.

"I tried..." Anthea began, causing Drake to raise an eyebrow since this approach should have yielded results.

"What happened? You don't sound particularly optimistic," Drake questioned with a suspicious tone.

"They attempted to take advantage of me, so I slaughtered them all with my spear," Anthea recounted nonchalantly.

Drake understood the implications of her statement, and he couldn't entirely blame those who had tried to exploit the situation. She looked too good, and he himself had been tempted to do the same. However, Drake now realized the need for caution.

"Are you feeling better?" Anthea inquired, to which Drake cleared his throat, struggling to formulate a response.

"I-I'm fine! I just need a moment to catch my breath," Drake stammered as he quickly rose to his feet. He felt the urge to return and search for other people, as something about Anthea didn't sit right with him. Her attractiveness alone wasn't worth risking his safety; he couldn't afford to get caught up in dangerous situations.

They made their way back to the arena, and Drake's eyes darted around the room in search of anyone else. He could sense Anthea's gaze on him, but he paid no mind. She couldn't force him to join her if he didn't want to.

Amid the crowd, Drake spotted another woman, one who seemed like a character from a mafia movie. She appeared far more modern than Anthea, likely closer to his own timeline than most people here. The woman adorned herself with multiple pieces of jewelry and had her nails painted black. She wore a black blazer over a black shirt, but what struck Drake were her fangs, giving her an uncanny resemblance to a vampire.

She exuded not only class but also an aura of danger, yet Drake knew he needed to take this chance. He approached the lady, leaving Anthea behind, who had yet to notice his absence. However, the moment she did, Drake inexplicably froze in place, as though an impenetrable wall had materialized around him.

"What the heck do you think you're doing?" the lady demanded bluntly.

"Wait! I can explain!" Drake knew that things were about to escalate, but before they could, Anthea positioned herself in front of him.

"I see you've found yourself a new plaything," the lady taunted Anthea, who chose to remain silent, refraining from offering a retort because she had misinterpreted the context.

"A plaything?" Anthea questioned, slowly cocking her head in Drake's direction as if seeking answers.

"Anthea... I'm a human..." Drake couldn't believe she had doubted him, but he was starting to discern a pattern in how her mind worked.
