Chapter 10: To be or Not to be is a choice

It has been a week since they arrived at safe haven. VInci noticed that David feels empty as he always wanted to be alone. Vinci let his student have his time alone and then he went to General Dan's place to check if there are updates on the intel.

Drinking alone in his room beside the window thinking of plans for how to infiltrate the hospital and save the people, is a righteous general who thinks not only for himself but also for the people. Vinci noticed that the general's mind is wandering since the wine in his glass is not touched, not even a sip was made.

"General" Vinci called the general as he appeared in his room. General Dan is taken aback and cannot respond immediately.

"What are you doing here? How did you enter?" General Dan is curious about how he enters the room without alarming the guards.

"I mean no harm general. I am here to inquire about the people in the hospital." he wants to make sure that everything he heard is correct. He is planning on infiltrating the hospital.

"How did you know that?"

"I have my own means, general." he answered directly.

General Dan feels that Vinci is a strong awakened and he wants to ask him if he can be part of the infiltration team. He shares all the information he got from his intel team including the people who were abducted. Vinci wanted to confirm if those people are from City A where David come from and where he landed first.

Then, General Dan asked him to help them infiltrate the enemy's base however Vinci declined for the reason that he plans to raid it later at night. He does not need to plan; he can go directly and save the people.

The night came and Vinci went out and search the hospital. General Dan gave him the location. His plan is to summon the beasts so that he can go in easily while distracting the enemies. When he arrived at the hospital, he noticed a bunch of awakened who are very strong. This might be caused by the enhancement through Frankenstein's experimentations.

"Summon" He summoned three of the six beasts to distract those powerful awakeneds. Peacock comes first and boasts his colorful feathers that are as strong as steel.

"Here it is. I can feel strong foes." The toad is excited to have a fight. Lastly, The beautiful entrance of the gorgeous deer lights up the surroundings because of her light aura.

Vinci instructed them to distract all the awakened at the entrance so that he can easily sneak in. The three beasts responded at the same time with vigor that they got the assignment. Vinci laughed because those beasts cannot hide their excitement.

A dramatic sound of instruments can be heard as the three walk to the entrance. The peacock is waving its gorgeous train and fanning himself with his self-made fan out of his feathers. The toad walks like a gangster with his tobacco pipe in his mouth; blowing smoke and feeling cool. Then the deer who feels like a doe gently and elegantly walks lighting up her surrounding, blinking her eyes like a seductive one.

"Hello!" A deep voice from the toad when he greets the enemies.

"Monsters! Ready to attack." The awakeneds are gathered at the entrance and face the three legendary beasts. While they are gathering, Vinci sneaked in.

"Hey deer, stay at the back. Peacock and I can handle them." The toad boastfully ordered the deer. The deer does not want to get tired too. She needs beauty rest and cannot let herself get tired of something ugly.

They started fighting with checking each other's strength. The toad's pipe became big and can be extended. He used it to smash the enemies. The toad is eleven feet tall and he is innately strong due to their environment in the forest of oblivion. The peacock is deflecting all attacks using his fan. Peacock is as tall as a man who is six feet.

The two beasts keep on defending to buy some time when suddenly a swordsman wounded the toad. There is a cut on his left leg which he loves the most. Everything becomes blank as he got furious.

"You dare cut me?" He said in a loud voice. He smashes them with his pipe and as it lands, it causes an explosion. The deer saw the toad rampaging and said that it is ugly. She healed the toad. It was just a small cut but this ugly toad becomes so mushy. The fight did not end there as the awakened amplified their powers. The real fight begins.

Inside the hospital, Vinci followed the path given to him by General Dan. He walks straight to the door and opens it. There he saw a lot of people crying out in pain; some were already passed out; some are even dead.

He went straight to Frankenstein who is currently doing an experiment and does not even care that he has sneaked it. The two assistants blocked him. He used telekinetic magic and throws them away. He cut both of their legs to make them incapable of fighting however they reconnected their bodies.

"Amazing! You can do that?" Then Vinci cut their legs and arms but they reconnected them. He then cut their heads but they are still able to reconnect. He is fascinated by these awakened. He is losing his patience since they are wasting his time. He used the multi-cut skill that is the antithesis of these awakeneds' ability. The assistants were not able to reconnect and were not given a chance to attack.

He faced Frankenstein and asked his reason why he is doing this. Then Frankenstein's answer made him speechless.

"In this time of apocalypse, your choice is either you live or die." Frankenstein stated the two options while doing his experiment. Vinci did not stop what he is doing.

"When people awakened abilities, they can stand their ground against those zombies however, when time passes by the zombies are evolving while humans are stuck. How can we fight and live?"

"Morality is a social construct, in order to restrict humans' evil nature. People agreed that these certain actions are deemed evil and do no good hence they should be forbidden otherwise the person will be called immoral or wicked. However, I have to choose this path and be called wicked for the survival of humanity." He added. He has a strong argument and those are valid.

"I am given superior wisdom and I have to use it."

Vinci is convinced by Frankenstein's argument that one needs to sacrifice for the sake of others' survival but it is also selfish to sacrifice others for one's happiness and satisfaction. Vinci noticed that Frankenstein is only reasoning out to cover his inner desire that he loves torturing people and seeing their pitiful expressions.

The reason why he did not stop him from doing his experiment while talking to him is to see his inner desire; it will show once the person is doing what he loves. He knows it very well since a smile on his face cannot be hidden once he feels excited or thrilled.

"Life is a choice, my friend. Whether you choose to be a kind of person or an evil person is your choice; no one shall impose something on us." Frankenstein shared his insight with Vinci about life. He knows that Vinci is not from this world deducing everything when Vinci fought his assistants. Humans are not able to evolve to a higher level without experimenting. This is what he believes. He indeed has superior wisdom.

"I know you want to feel something; an adventure, struggle, pain, fun, and love but you do not know how. I can help you with that." Frankenstein took out a book that he happens to stumble upon when he awakened his ability. He can read its content but he cannot understand. He gave it to Vinci guessing that he can understand what is written.

Upon opening the book, he stumbles on the phrase saying seal your power. This means that a person using this spell will become ordinary but since he is at the top of magic, it can only seal half of his power. He took it and then Frankenstein smiled as his guess is right.

Vinci binds Frankenstein and takes him out of the laboratory and thinks of letting General Dan judge him as he cannot judge a person base on Blue Planet's morality.

At the entrance, the fight also ended. Both the peacock and the toad are satisfied with the fight and called it a warm-up. The deer was there watching the battle while sitting and eating popcorn.

Vinci called the deer and instructed her to help the people inside the library. The deer cast healing on them and used a spell to erase their painful memory inside the laboratory. After healing, all the people walking outside saw Vinci. The people asked him where they are and he told them that they are at the hospital.

General Dan was informed by his intel group about what happened at the hospital and responded quickly. When he arrived, he is happy to see many people survived though some are dead because even Vinci cannot resurrect a dead person.

Vinci looked for David's family however, they are not among those people who are abducted.

At the safe haven, Vinci contemplated Frankenstein's statement. To be or not to be is a choice. He is now holding the book that can seal half of his power. Will he do it? Will this help him start a new life?
