Chapter 48

The fight seemed slow to describe, but it was quick and fast paced, barely allowing any breathing time. I looked at Guy and my frown deepened. 'When did he open the Third Gate?'

There are Eight Gates placed in the human body in order to limit the flow of chakra within the human body. Humans are ordinarily able to utilize 20% of the body's full potential, and the Gates were limiters placed to limit overexertion to prevent harming the body. With training, however, an individual can learn to remove these limiters; This was referred to as 'Opening the Gates'.

The more gates an individual opens, the more power and speed the individual was able to show. Due to the fact that they are open limiters, the kind of stress and force the body is subjected to was to the point of the muscles being ripped due to the body's inability to handle such force. When one opens the eighth gate, they are granted power far beyond the ability of a Kage, and finally, death.

Guy's red skin receded to the original skin color and his pupils returned as he stared at me. He smiled and lifted his sore forearm up to show me. It was the injury he received in the beginning. "Why are you showing that to me, Guy-san, don't tell me, you want re--venge?" My eyes widened as I saw the slightly swollen and reddened forearm suddenly recede and return to his usual color. It had healed.

'What was that? Healing? It can't be.' Before I had time to process what was happening, a red skinned Guy appeared before me and sent a punch towards me. My eyes could follow but I knew with my current body, Autopilot would not be able to evade, let alone counterattack. Even before the punch could completely outstretch, I could feel the terrifying pressure it carried; if it connected, it would not just merely have been broken bones. I quickly released the gravity seal on me. Auto pilot kicked in and moved the body slightly to the side. I stretched out my middle knuckle out of the fist and swiped it towards his throat. His outstretched arm pushed outwards, blocking the swipe while he pulled his neck back as well.

I used his block to pull myself up and kicked towards his throat. His body moved back even more, making his body almost parallel to the ground as he kicked at me hard. Autopilot twisted my body using the momentum from my kick, barely letting the kick pass by under my body. As Guy's kick passed, I sent an axe kick down but missed, as he dodged by jumping back, making distance between us. His red body receded again as he stood with a happy grin on his face.

I finally understood. "Guy-san, you really are amazing. I never knew you could take the Eight Gates to such an extent. You open the gates only for a short while and close them, then use the Gates of Healing to counter the damage done by the other Gates that you open. Truly amazing." I could not help but be amazed. One has to understand that opening anything beyond the Second Gate, The Gate of Healing, did great damage to the body. Even the Third Gate, the Gate of Life, caused bulging veins, which indicated the stress the body was going through, let alone the Fourth Gate, the Gate of Pain, that tore the muscles.

Guy however, seemed to have hacked the system. He was using the Life Gate to heal the damage the other Gates were doing to his body. What was worse, I had no idea which gate I was fighting at any time. He could suddenly open the Sixth Gate, the Gate of View, and quickly use Morning Peacock, where the user's punches are so fast that the friction with the air produces flames, before closing the Gate and healing himself with the Second Gate, the Gate of Healing.

From the looks of it, he had taken the healing to a different level, with the way the forearm injury healed at a visible rate. "What kind of monstrous Might Guy did I just come across? Ah, I want to go all out!" The both of use had such happy grins on our faces. As if thinking the same, we charged at each other again.

Throwing attack after attack, parry after parry, counter attack after counter attack, constantly increasing our speeds. We lost ourselves in the mood of battle. At some point there was a maniacal grin on both our faces. I finally figured out this version of Might Guy; He was a battle maniac. However, it seemed a little more restrained.

I completely pushed my current body to the limit as I contended with Guy. I did want to go all out but pushing my current physical self the way I was, I felt my body improving itself slightly. More like tweaking Autopilot more and more. I could also tell Guy was improving himself as well. I increased my speeds to the limit with ten me appearing as I utilized the flicker to try put more pressure on his, who knew what gate he was using. Every punch and kick or slice of ours shook the air around us, and each time I barely evaded the shock and sound waves were beginning to build damage. I did not have to worry as I left my healing to the Medical Coating around my organs and muscles. But if it went on like that, it would hinder my fighting prowess.

I turned my punches to knife imitations to begin dealing better damage against the meat muscle before me. The more I lost myself in the fight, the more the assassin side of me came out with me constantly trying to slit his throat with my palm. I completely left the evasion to my autopilot as I continuously tweaked it to barely evade allowing me the more perfect opportunities to counter. Guy as well looked like the more we fought, the more he was getting used to our fight as he began to change his style of attack, occasionally sending slices palms my way.

I crouched low and appeared behind him intending to slice his left tendons but he quickly lifted his leg and sent a kick backwards towards my head. My body dodged slightly towards left and sent another slice towards his groin. He jumped up quickly to evade my reach, then turned it into a reverse roundhouse kick towards my head. I crouched even lower and grabbed the leg passing overhead and lifted myself up. Having already been the target of this earlier, Guy sent an elbow crushing down towards me, forcing me to let go and distance myself.

"How about we get a bit more serious?" I spoke, with my breathing slightly labored. I wanted more. I knew I was an assassin, and sparing was not my thing, but I was truly enjoying myself; the blood pumping, the adrenalin, one slight slip up and 'Bang'. I was tempted to utilize ninjutsu a few times but after a while that faded. It felt like an extremely high-level death match and it felt amazing.
