I Became a Leader of a New Nation while in Exile

It was supposed to be a new, quiet, and simple life for 15-year-old noble boy Nate Wole, who was kicked out and exiled by his family for being too weak in favor of his older brother, Hertzel, a selfish warrior who cares only about himself and his skills in magic. Desperate, he traveled to the lowlands of Wooda, where while camping, he had an unlucky encounter with one of the collection of tribes of the Undead Animals, a bunch of hostile undead animals who can wield weapons and shapeshift into humans and were despised and hunted by humans. After getting killed by one of them under an Undead lion named Sati, Nate was saved by them after they regretted their decision to kill him, and Sati eventually gave his position as tribal leader to him. Nate was shocked to here that, but he has no choice but to accept it. And now, he is a leader of Sati’s lion tribe. Soon, he united the other Undead tribes under the new country name, Wooda, while studying to be a good leader, and changed his identity to Lloyd Lewole, completely vanishing his old identity in order to forget his past. But, will he handle such a great responsibility?

Chapter 49 – New Equipment

Sati's POV

It's been a while since Wooda's military had been in the same style. I think it's time for us to acquire new equipment, skills, and tactics in preparation for any future attacks. So, I went to Lloyd in his office and said to him, "Sir, I think we should upgrade our military." Lloyd then looked at me. "Yeah, sure. I put that off for a while."

"But, I didn't plan how we will do it," I responded back.

 "It's okay, Sati-kun. We'll figure that out."

Then, someone came, and it was Xerxes.

"Sir," he said directly at Lloyd, "we can use arrows and crossbows for the military."

We then looked at him.

"Oh, sure, that'll give the soldiers a good advantage," Lloyd replied with agreement, before jotting those notes on a piece of paper.

"We can make them arrow soldiers that can shoot from a distance," I added a suggestion.

"Okay, okay, that'll be good," Lloyd responded.

At this point, most military soldiers still use bows and arrows, swords, and spears, and Xerxes' suggestion is a great opportunity to upgrade their skills.

So, Lloyd stood up. "Okay, let's have a meeting concerning our military."

Not long after, we are in the meeting room. Zeke was being called to the meeting since he was our leader's main subordinate and the country's backbone of operations.

"The reason why I called this meeting," Lloyd said to us, "is that we need to modernize our military even though there's an unlikely attack on our territory."

"Yes, we should," agreed Zeke, "so we can send a message to anyone who dared to attack us without a reason."

Our master then nodded, before sitting down.

Then, Xerxes stood up. "Let's teach most of the soldiers how to use crossbows. It might be a bit tricky, but it's easy."

"Okay, that'll give them an advantage on distance," Zeke responded.

"That sounds good, but we have to make crossbows for the soldiers, too," Master responded to this.

"Don't worry, master," Xerxes assured. "My tribe specializes in making crossbows."

"Oh, that'll be good." Lloyd gets his cup of tea and takes a sip of it.

Then to us. "Anything else?"

This was followed by a very short silence.

Zeke then raised his hand. "Let's employ the use of cannons."

"Okay, how?" I asked in response.

"Let's learn from Kalelis," Zeke responded.

"Sure, that'll be good," master agreed with him. "We can assign someone in charge of the cannons."

"Zane can do it!" Xerxes replied to this.

This causes the rest to be a bit dumbfounded.

 "What? Him?"

 "Why?"

"Well, he once told me he got a thing for cannons when he was still alive," Xerxes responded back.

To that master began to contemplate about it, but agreed to the part where we will learn from Kalelis.

I, on the other hand, was always ready and confident to train my soldiers in new skills while Zane was in the cannons and Xerxes in crossbows.

And so, by the afternoon, we announced this to our Undead animal soldiers in one of the barracks in the capital. A week later, most of our country's soldiers, especially the newly recruited ones, are now training in crossbow combat under Xerxes. At the same time, we purchased some big, bulky cannons from Kalelis and Zane began to teach some of the high-ranking soldiers how to handle and use them since he had some experience from a long time ago. Our modernization of our military is on the way.
