Chapter 50 – New Tactics and Strategies

Lloyd's POV

A few days after Sati's and Xerxes' proposal, I began to think about the next part of my modernization plan for the military: new tactics and strategies. To that, I grabbed a quill pen and a piece of paper and began brainstorming for any new ideas of new tactics. I think hard and calculative. Then, a new idea came to me, and I jotted it down almost immediately fast like a bird. That idea is to use Undead animals as beautiful women to lure enemy military officers for intel and information. It was a good idea but has some downsides as well. I know the latter, so I had to be careful about it.

Then, someone knocked on my door.

 "Come in," I responded back.

The door was opened, and it was Laura and Gretchel who knocked on the door.

I then looked at them. "Oh, hey, Gretchel-chan."

"I'm home, big brother," Gretchel replied back while yawning. "School is a bit tiring."

She and Laura then came forward.

"So, how's school, sis?" I asked her.

"Fine as usual," answered Gretchel as she sat on one of the two chairs in front of my desk. "Maria-sensei had some homework for me in Math for this week."

"Oh, okay, I can help you with that," I replied back. "I'm good in Math."

"It's okay, big brother. I know you're busy, so I'll do it myself."

 "I see."

And then, Laura asked me, "How's your day, master?" I then looked at her. "Fine as usual. Sati's and Xerxes' suggestions really helped out with the modernization of our country's military."

"Oh, it was, sir. I mean, Sati-kun is busy today, right?"

I then nodded. "Yes, he was, for the last few days."

Gretchel then gets one of her textbooks from her bag and opened it so she can study it.

When I looked at it, it was Math.

"Was that one hard, sis?" I asked her out of concern.

"No, not all," Gretchel responded back.

 "Okay then."

I then glanced back at Laura. "I was thinking of new strategies for our military."

"Oh, those things?" Laura asked back.

"Yes, so we can gain an upper hand in almost any battle."

"That would be a good idea, master, so we can minimize any possible casualties, too."

I agreed with her, before going back to brainstorming for new strategy ideas.

Eventually, I came up with 4 more ideas, and I started to analyze and consider each of them.

Laura looked at it and commented the first idea was very strategic and tactical.

"Oh, really? It was?" I asked.

"Yes, it would be a good idea for intel as well," she replied back meekly. "You're so clever, master."

Because of that compliment, I was a bit flustered by it but managed to hold and hide it from her.

 "I'm just creative, that's all," I responded.

"Yeah, he is," my younger half-sister added.

 "Oh, I see."

With that Laura left the office, promising to come back with some cups of hot tea.

The next day, after a night of analysis and consideration, as well as a good night's sleep, I announced this to my subordinates in a morning meeting. I read the ideas aloud to them so they could hear it. Some of them were stunned, as if they never tried those new strategies and tactics before. One of those ideas is to use the wolves from Xerxes' Undead wolf tribe to ambush the enemies in a trail, a thing that Xerxes considered as a novel idea. He, with his grey messy hair and red blood eyes, also said to me that their typical, old strategy is to approach an intruder and kill it if that intruder resists. Hearing that, I considered that as good, but basic at the same time. Xerxes eventually agreed with me and took the first idea seriously, promising to instruct some of the female Undead animals in that tactic.

After that, my other subordinates expressed their opinions and concerns in some of my ideas, which I listened to them attentively with thoughtfulness. And then, with some of their suggestions, I fixed and modified some of my proposed ideas for new tactics and strategies for battle. By 10 in the morning, my subordinates now implemented those new tactics and strategies in military use and taught some in the military how to do them. They even did some simulation rounds so they could gain some experience doing it. Gretchel and I even attended some of the simulations so I could see them for myself and to check their progress. The modernization program is now in full swing. All it needs is to test it out in an actual battle. But, there's no country waging war against us so we will train and be prepared just in case.
