Sumi wants to fly

Time was passing quickly at Hogwarts. The first week without classes had already passed. It had been three days since classes had started. The castle was bustling and noisy, as always. Professor Sprout's mandrake class and Lockhart's class were especially much talked about. Professor Sprout was liked and respected by the whole school, while it was the female students who were impressed and respected by Lockhart. Most of the male students had already realised that there was something wrong with this man. He had chosen his favourite colour and the gifts he liked to receive as the subject of his DADA lessons.

"For the last time, stop trying to convince me that Lockhart is not a fraud. Our house believes in logic and rationality, and if you read about DADA in the school library, you will realise how inadequately Lockhart taught the subject," Henry said to Padma, exasperated. "If what you're saying was true, Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn't have thrown him out of class!" said Padma, not at all pleased with what Henry was saying. "This is getting annoying. If you talk to former students, you'll learn that the DADA class changes professors every year. It's hard to find a teacher to teach the subject with so many years of constant change. That's the only explanation for Lockhart getting this position," Henry said firmly.

Anthony said, "I agree with Henry Padma. The man is really incompetent. There is no academic value in what he teaches." When Padma saw that Anthony Goldstein also supported Henry, she angrily got up from the table and left the great hall. Henry turned to Anthony and said, "Mate, all the girls are getting stupid when it comes to Lockhart. He may be an incompetent teacher, but he certainly has his talents," Henry said. Anthony shook his head in exasperation. This week, they bore all the boys with the discussion about Lockhart.

As Henry was talking, he saw Harry and Ron enter the Great Hall. When he saw the first year following them, he waved to him and called out. "Oi, Colin! Can you come here for a minute?" said Henry. Colin Creevey, surprised, came over to the Ravenclaw table. "Oh, hello, I don't recognise you, sorry. Do you want something from me?" asked Colin, curiously. Not only Colin, but everyone who knew Henry was looking at them curiously. "I apologise for calling you like this. I'm Henry Pearce. Your magic camera caught my attention, and I learned your name from talking to your friends. I'm planning to join the Quidditch team and I need a photo of me and my broomstick for a friend. Can you help me?" Henry asked, smiling.

Colin was excited to hear what Henry had said. "Of course, Henry! I'd be happy to help. By the way, I'm Colin Creevey. It's nice to meet you. I've only just heard about magic because my parents are muggles. When I found out they couldn't come to Hogwarts, I bought this camera to send them pictures of the school," Colin said. He hadn't spoken to anyone but his flatmates, and he was very excited to talk to Henry. The team tryouts were a week later, but Colin said he could take pictures of them with his broomstick this weekend. They agreed to meet at the field on Saturday.

After Colin left the table, Anthony said, "Henry, who is this chap? I haven't seen you send a single owl in the last year." "A friend of mine from Japan," Henry said without further ado. "You went to Japan this summer?!" said Anthony louder than he wanted to. Henry sighed and shook his head as he saw the entire Ravenclaw table turn to the two of them. After spending the entire afternoon under a barrage of questions, Henry left the great hall.

The Ravenclaw entered the common room of his house and made his way to the sofas in front of the fireplace. He sat on the first one he found empty and listened to the crackling of the fire. Perhaps the most beautiful feature of the Ravenclaw house was the silence in the common room. Apart from small whispers, almost no one spoke aloud. After Henry relaxed a little, he got up and went to his dormitory room to change.

Saturday came in the blink of an eye. Henry got up early on the weekend, as he did every morning. People who saw Henry leaving the castle looked at him with surprise. Sumi followed Henry behind him as he walked. Not many students were awake at this hour, but those who were up rubbed their eyes when they saw the broomstick fly off on its own and follow Henry. Henry started running beside the black lake without a care in the world. He was running at a slow pace; if he ran with all his might, anyone who saw him would not believe that he was human.

After warming up a bit, Henry changed his direction and started running towards the black lake. When he was near the lake, he jumped and Sumi flew under him. Henry caught Sumi in mid-air and started flying at full speed. Sumi was a sentient broomstick. Henry had not been on a broomstick for four weeks and Sumi was not happy about it. Henry made sharp ascents and dives and changes of direction, having fun and pleasing Sumi. After flying over the lake for half an hour, Henry headed towards the quidditch pitch.

Henry stood on the pitch and crossed his arms on the broomstick. He looked at the pitch and the stands. The Gryffindor and Slytherin teams were arguing on the pitch. Henry didn't care about them, but the boy he was looking for was with them. Henry quickly and sharply dived into where they were. While the two teams were arguing amongst themselves, Colin heard a voice from the sky and turned towards the sound. When he saw Henry coming towards them very sharply and quickly, he immediately took a picture of him with his camera. When both quidditch teams heard Colin taking a photo, they turned towards him, then in the direction he was taking the photo.

Everyone jumped on their broomsticks and started running away when they saw how fast and sharp Henry was coming at them. Henry pulled Sumi's nose up sharply when he was four metres from the ground. Henry dived at full speed from a height of a hundred metres and stopped all his speed and stopped right next to Colin. "Hello Colin, how are you?" Henry said, smiling. Colin nearly had a heart attack. He had never flown on a broomstick before, and he was sure that even if he did, he would never be able to drive a broomstick like Henry.

"Oh, Henry, you scared me!" said Colin, and before he could continue, Gryffindor and Slytherin teams surrounded them on their broomsticks. "Are you mad? Before either team could speak, Hermione scolded Henry for thinking he was going to crash into them. "I'm sorry I scared you guys. I haven't flown much in the last four weeks. I'm a bit rusty," Henry said, continuing to smile.

"Nice move, Pearce! That brand of broomstick has great mobility!" exclaimed Ron. Henry's dive mesmerised both quidditch teams. Harry wondered if he could do what Henry had done. "Haha, thanks Ron. I got my broomstick from Japan, special edition," Henry said, stroking Hikari's name on Sumi. "Haha, we have the best broomsticks in the world. Your second-rate broomstick is nothing compared to ours!" said Draco, annoyed that Henry was getting all the attention.

Henry turned to Draco and grinned. "Whatever makes you happy, Malfoy," Henry said slowly, then turned back to Colin. "Anyway, get in. The lakeside would be better for the photo shoot," Henry said to Colin, pointing to the broomstick. Colin looked at the broomstick and Henry with fear. After hesitating for a while, he got on the broomstick behind Henry. Henry took off as soon as Colin got on and flew at full speed into the black lake. Before anyone could say anything, they had already left the field, leaving only Colin's screams behind them.

"George, did you see how fast the broomstick travelled with two people on it?" asked Fred. "No, you don't, brother, I saw it too. I hope he doesn't join the quidditch team or the cup will be a dream this year," said George. The Gryffindor quidditch team all nodded their heads in agreement with Fred and George. Henry had unintentionally wiped the smiles off the faces of both teams and was flying over the black lake unaware of it. He posed for Colin and posed for photographs until lunchtime. He gave Colin a galleon, too much for his labour and the cost of the photographs. Colin didn't want to take it, but when he threatened that he would fly him to Hogwarts if he didn't take the galleon, he took it without hesitation.
