Chapter 24

Because the Lamborghini wouldn't be ready until the next day, they spent the night at the only bed and breakfast in Tulia, actually a back bedroom of a private residence. That night, both Ross and Allie fell into a much-needed sleep, snuggled between clean, cotton sheets on a large, over-stuffed mattress.

When they finally made it back on the road, towards Genoa, Ross pulled the top down on the sports car and cruised well over 80 to make up time.

"Our we on a schedule?" Allie asked, the tail of her head scarf whipping in the wind.

He glanced her way, his eyes unfathomable behind the dark glasses. "The sooner we're out of the country, the better. When Cassini realizes the switch, he's going to put out an all-points bulletin; and with his connections, he'll get cooperation from all the authorities—even Interpol."
