CHAPTER ONE

The Curse

As the sun sets, the quiet town of Silverwood comes alive with the howling of wolves. For the residents, it is a familiar sound, one that they have learned to ignore, but for one family, it is a nightmare that they can never escape.

The Raine family has been cursed for generations. Every full moon, they transform into werewolves, unable to control their primal instincts. It is a curse that has caused them nothing but pain and misery. But the youngest member of the family, Mia, is determined to find a way to break the curse.

Mia had grown up hearing the stories of her family's curse, but it wasn't until she turned 16 that she realized the full extent of it. It happened on a full moon night which happened to be her 16th birthday.

She was out for a walk in the family garden when she felt a strange sensation wash over her. It was as if her body was shifting, changing into something else. She was terrified and exhilarated all at once as she felt herself transform into a creature she had only ever heard about in legends - a werewolf.

She transformed into a werewolf for the first time, and she was horrified by what she saw. Mia dashed into her own home, attacked her own family as she was unable to control her rage and hunger for raw flesh.

The next morning, Mia woke up to find herself covered in blood, her clothes torn to shreds. She knew that she had to find a way to break the curse before the next full moon.Lost in thought, she noticed a shaky figure behind the curtains. She quietly approached the curtain and pounced on the shaky figure.

"Don't hurt me sis, spare me". Came a voice from the shaky figure.

Mia recognized the voice and uncovered the curtain. It was her younger sister who had successfully survived the massacre of the night before.

"Sarah! I am so sorry. I didn't intentionally kill mum and dad". Mia said as tears rolled down her eyes.

"I know about the curse sis but we need to find a way to stop the curse before the next full moon". Sarah responded in a shaky voice.

They spent weeks researching, reading every book theycould find on werewolves and curses, but nothing seemed to make sense or lead to a cure.

One night, as they were walking in the woods, theybumped into a strange old woman. The woman had a strange aura around her, and Mia could feel that she was different from any other person she had ever met. The woman introduced herself as the witch who guarded the woods, and when Mia told her about the curse, the witch smiled and said that she could help. By this time, Sarah her sister had fled the scene.

The witch gave Mia a potion, telling her that it would break the curse, but warned her that it would come at a price. Mia drank the potion, and as the full moon rose in the sky, she waited for the transformation to begin. But nothing happened. Mia was relieved as she thought the curse had been broken.

She suddenly felt dizzy and was caught halfway by her witch before her back could hit the ground. She opened her eyes to find herself in a different place. She was no longer in the woods but in a strange land she had never seen before. As she looked around, she saw a figure in the distance. It was the witch who had helped her.

"Where am I? Where is Sarah? What have you done with my sister?" Mia inquired all at once.

"You ask too many questions." The witch tried to shut her up.

Mia started trembling as she saw the witch approach her.

"I want to return to my sister. She must be freaking out by now." Mia said as she crawled towards the door.

"Just hold on a minute! I will let you go once I am done with the final cleansing ritual." The witch ordered as she reached for a pinkish potion from her potion bank.

Walking towards the already scared Mia, she handed her the bottle.

"Drink this and the curse will be no more."

Mia with the intent of breaking every weight of the scary curse, grabbed the bottle and emptied all its content in her mouth that was anticipating the potion.

"Ewwww! This tastes funny. I think some of your potions need to be reviewed." Mia said mockingly. "I hope I wouldn't be needing any of these potions anymore."

The witch helped put Mia out of her misery almost immediately.

"Congratulations Mia, you have broken the curse." The witch smiled and said.

Immediately the witch made the pronouncement, Mia felt a tingly feeling in her body and she zoned out, waking up to the real world.

Mia hurried home so that she could break the good news to her kid sister who had scurried away at the sight of the old witch. As she stepped into the house, she met a gory sight –her kid sister, the only family she had left was lying lifeless in a pool of her own blood.

The words of the witch rang I her head about the price.Her sister was the price she needed to pay for the curse to be broken. She wasn't prepared for this tragedy.

Though the curse was broken, it turned her into something more daring and that was just the beginning of defining episodes for Mia. She felt alone and decided to seek a pack to belong to. A new world awaited her.
