Uesugi Shuu heard an incomprehensible advice. He knew that humans's Honkai Energy Resistance was innate. But then he remembered, that the protagonists' resistance capabilities were at their pinnacle despite not having the corresponding manipulation levels at the beginning stages

Now he understood the reason for the option 3 rewards to be Soul-bound Valkyrie Chariot. Despite not knowing its exact properties, he knew from experience that the Battlesuit would grow alongside Bronya when she became stronger

While he had some reservations, he decided to implement the idea after placating Maxim, to give Bronya more chances of survival.

Facing the girl a head shorter than him, he asked, "I have a method that allows you to manipulate Honkai Energy" and he waited for her response patiently

Momentarily, Bronya looked at Uesugi in shock while Maxim was raging on the side. 

The concept of Honkai Energy should be unclear to the current Bronya but she still had some ideas, "I heard that only people with high Honkai Resistance Adaptability can manipulate Honkai Energy".

Valkyries are a rare fighting resource in the world. This is because of the requirement of resistance and the innate ability to manipulate Honkai Energy. Maxim is an example, despite being able to withstand Chita's Honkai corruption, he does not possess the ability to control Honkai Energy

Uesugi gave a lackadaisical excuse, "I checked your Honkai Resistance Adaptability and determined that it is at least top-tier amongst Valkyries, your high IQ may be a result of this effect, enhancing your brain subconsciously".

The reasoning was random but it made sense. Bronya as a Valkyrie possessed a calm-headed combat perspective in comparison to her teammates who were too emotional and had an unstable factor to their powers due to their secrets

While she was surprised by how he checked, she didn't want to let this opportunity go and immediately accepted his offer. Uesugi smiled at her decisiveness and took action on the spot

The hand on Bronya's head was covered in aura as his hands glowed dimly. Controlling his output, he did not pour Honkai Energy onto her head as she needed to slowly adapt before doing so.

Uesugi's method was to catalyze his aura with the Honkai Energy in the atmosphere. 

Honkai Energy is like air around the world. Honkai Sickness only happens when its concentration reaches 10 HW.

Uesugi was also sweating as his Honkai Energy Manipulation is only Elementary. By lessening the force of his Energy, he lowered the pain experienced by the young girl

Maxim looked upon them with worry, he understood his niece's personality and was helpless against it. His hair instantly grew white hair as his lifespan threatened to shorten by the second

After 5 minutes, Uesugi stopped pouring Honkai Energy into her as he watched her change. Since the system said to occasionally have her adapt to Honkai Energy, the process should take a while

He sat down to rest and prodded his cheek and thought, 'Maybe I should bring Bronya to Anti-Entropy with me. She originally belonged to the organization before infiltrating Schicksal'.

'While it may affect the relationship between her and the other two, I'll try to handle that part'. Dozing off for a bit, the changes around Bronya became transparent.

The purple lines covering Bronya's body began receding into thin air and the atmosphere became a bit thicker which caused Maxim to breathe slightly harder

Realizing her lack of control, she tried to contain the Honkai Energy emitted into her body.

Instantly, the Honkai Energy dissipated as she let out a breath of relief. Opening her eyes, it felt like her world expanded and her thought process became more proficient.

Ignoring the two who were looking at her, she started doing hand-to-hand combat movements and used the gun on the table.

Her aim hit the corner of the house. Uesugi glanced at the area and saw that a bug had been blown to bits by the bullet

Maxim was confused but when he saw Uesugi's expression, he guessed what Bronya just did

'As expected of a protagonist, her visual acuity and ranged weaponry mastery is outstanding.' Uesugi had to re-evaluate Bronya's abilities as in the game, the gameplay was more focused on firepower than technicality

While there were mentions of her sniper life as the 'Silver Wolf of Ural', they weren't animated for players to see.

For some reason, Bronya looked calm throughout the whole ordeal and did not reveal surprise or glee towards her powers

Everyone except her accounted for her personality keeping her calm but they did not realize her true thoughts

Clapping his hands, Uesugi Shuu gathered their attention. "Alright, it is time for us to set off". He ignored Maxim's glare and started packing their equipment before setting off

Maxim looked at them both before sighing weakly, he could persuade Uesugi but Bronya was a tough nut to crack

There was an internal turmoil going on in his head before his eyes became resolute. "Wait a minute". He said before tapping on the wall rhythmically

Question marks appeared in Uesugi Shuu and Bronya Zaychik as they wondered what Maxim was up to. 

"Sha" "Ding"

Contraption sounds were being unlocked as the floor in the middle of the house opened a hole into an underground space

'A bunkbed'. Uesugi thought but Maxim wouldn't show him something useless when they were about to leave. 

When Maxim returned, he struggled to carry a weapon up the stairs and required Uesugi to assist him.

'Heavy' was Uesugi's first thought as he wondered how Maxim even lifted the weapon. Staring at the middle-aged man silently, he kept his quiet and exerted his efforts.

It was a rusty cannon covered in dust and rust, it looked ordinary as Uesugi thought it was like a cannon in 'Clash of Clans'

It was questionable whether the weapon still worked and when it seemed to have existed for many centuries past. 

Breathing heavily, Maxim signaled Bronya to come closer. Without saying a word, he pointed a gun at Bronya. 

Shocked, Uesugi tried to react to his actions but saw Bronya calmly staring at the gun. Despite being indecisive, he decided to remain stationary.

"Drop your blood onto it". Maxim smiled lightly and retracted his gun. Bronya nodded and bit her thumb, wholeheartedly trusting Maxim.

Squinting his eyes, Uesugi sighed at their relationship. After all, in the Honkai world, a family can easily be abandoned in the face of danger, let alone those working in the mercenary field

People like Maxim who bother to look after kids are rare in the world. 

When the blood dripped onto the cannon, a glow emitted from it. Blinding light embraced Bronya and the cannon together as she lost consciousness under its influence.

Uesugi reacted, he went to snatchMaxim who gave a suicidal look when the man repulsed the helping hand

"Wait outside please, it will soon be done." Maxim dazedly said. This abnormality was within his intentions as Uesugi did not sense a hint of malice in his eyes, only relief

"Explain first and I'll forcefully drag you out regardless for Bronya's sake," Uesugi said grimly, without any alternatives left for him

Maxim turned his head and looked at Uesugi. The latter was surprised by the appearance of the former. 

A middle-aged appearance whose face was covered in purple lines with haggard breaths. It's a sign of Honkai's Sickness but his condition shortly after was astonishing.

Just like Bronya, Maxim's purple lines started to recede as his appearance started to regain its youth. Uesugi Shuu was shocked completely to his core. While he doesn't know of Maxim's identity as of now, the change must be because of his transmigration

'Exactly what kind of Honkai Impact 3rd have I transmigrated in'

Maxim's rejuvenation was faster than Bronya's fusion. He became a young adult who looked like he shortly graduated from High School

His muscles were bulging even with his articles of clothes as he emitted Honkai Energy far superior to Uesugi. This caused him to instinctively be ready for combat

The former smiled lightly and reassured Uesugi by retracting his Honkai Energy.

Silence enveloped them both, before Maxim got to say a word, he heard Uesugi say, "I don't care what excuse you have, you must talk to Bronya before you leave". Leaving behind those words, Uesugi Shuu left without turning back

Surprise appeared on Maxim's face before he smiled with gratitude. Facing Bronya who was nearly done with the fusion, the smile was replaced with worry

'The world does not have enough time. Uesugi Shuu, is your appearance a life-saving grace or does it imply a never-ending apocalypse.' Muttering under his breath, Maxim raised his hands towards Bronya and strengthened the fusion process

Uesugi Shuu felt like he already received enough surprises, he sat on a chair right outside the door and drowsed into a dream quietly, ignoring everything around him.
