It was late fall and nothing too serious had happened for Ron except the affair of the fat lady whose portrait had been torn and she claimed that the author of this act of vandalism was not other than Sirius Black and he was in the castle.
That night, all the Gryffindor students slept in the great hall and it was a nightmare! The first and third grades spread here and there like refugees.
Ron couldn't work with Merlin that night or even sleep because it was impossible for him in these conditions so he chatted a little with Harry and Neville.
The day after that horrible night, he slept during Defense Against the Dark Arts class and Lupin did his class normally even though the day before was a full moon evening (in the film Snape replaced him).
He looked at Ron several times and when the end of class came and Ron woke up, he asked him to stay.
Harry and Hermione thought he was going to punish him for sleeping so they went to wait not too far away.
Ron: Professor, do you need me?
Lupin: Weasley last night was a full moon night, I took a sip of your potion a week ago.
Ron: Results?
"I'M OKAY, I'M NOT TRANSFORMED!!" he said happily holding Ron by the shoulders.
Ron: I'm very happy for you, Professor. If you do well in the potion factory (yawn) I will write you the recipe.
Lupin: Thank you young Weasley, thank you very much. Dumbledore will definitely call you to his office, he knows you helped me.
Ron: PLEASE NO!
Lupin: Everything will be fine, I'm sure he will reward you.
Ron hadn't even come out yet when McGonagall came in to tell him that Dumbledore wanted to see him and he left with her after looking at Harry and Hermione in distress, they feared the worst and asked Lupine who told them not to not to worry.
(In Dumbledore's office)
Albus: Aaaah! Young Weasley is here...
Ron: Professor Dumbledore, did you want to see me?
Albus: We both know you're far too intelligent to ignore why you're here, youg friend. You helped a dear friend, you are a surprising young man, gifted with exceptional intellectual and mental abilities and according to Lupin, you are afraid of nothing.
You have mastered advanced spells with incredible dexterity for your age and your talent for making potions is equally incredible.
Ron: I know, I'm too strong! Wait, why does this sound like a job interview?
Albus: My child, the world is strewn with dangers, dark forces are lurking in the shadows and they are returning. Talent like yours is hard to find. I'm not going to ask you where you learned all that, if your intentions were bad then you wouldn't have exposed yourself like that or helped young Potter. However, I have a proposition to make to you, my child.
Ron: Join the Order of Phoenix?
Albus: Indeed, you are an intelligent child and not the least. Believe me, I don't like asking that of a child, my young friend. Times are darker than we would like to believe.
Ron: I don't mind joining this group if my parents are there, but I want them to agree. The rest doesn't matter (yawn)! I can still see the curiosity in your eyes, professor. If you want to know how I know so much then I'll tell you.
Albus: Are you sure?
Ron: We are between us! I bought a lot of spell books and potions notebooks on the black market. I also learned a lot of things and I modified the recipe for certain things, my intellect which I am quite proud of allowed me to learn a lot of useful spells.
Albus: Have you learned the Unforgivable Curses?
Ron: For what ? Getting me and my family in trouble?! I am curious but not crazy, professor!
Dumbledore massaged his temple and sent Ron away, the child was seriously giving him a headache and he really saw that he was not afraid of anything like Lupin said besides being completely nonchalant.
The next day, there was a Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, the weather was stormy and the match was a real massacre in favor of Gryffindor thanks to Ron and his brothers.
Fred and Georges had trained enough with him during the holidays to improve their game and they knocked out several opponents with the bludgers which left a lot of room for maneuver to their team's chasers who scored a lot of points.
The score was 110-30 when Harry caught the Golden Snitch to give his team the victory.
The training with Ron had paid off and he was not attacked by the Dementors like in the movies for the simple reason that he did not need to go to high altitude.
It had been three years since Gryffindor's domination of Quidditch was complete because of these two and McGonagall was so proud of it that she cried.
After the match, she had consulted the others and they decided to make Ron the new captain of the team and Oliver Wood happily handed over the position to him, much to the misfortune of Ron who had a holy horror of responsibility.
Winter has arrived and with it the Christmas season has come.
"Merry Christmas mate" Ron said near the tree where several presents were waiting for them.
Harry: Merry Christmas Ron.
They started to open them and soon Ron offered his to Harry. Unwrapping the package, Harry saw a folded parchment and it was in fact the Marauder's Map.
Ron taught him how to use it and especially how to close it and Harry was really impressed with the gift.
Harry: Where did you get it?
Ron: I won it with my brothers we bet on the exact number of points I was going to score in the last game and I won.
Harry: You are truly amazing! (hands over his packet) This is for you, I'm sure you'll like it.
He opened Harry's present and there was a very small cushion the size of a chicken egg.
Ron: What is it?
Harry: Tap it twice with your finger.
Ron did so and the little cushion became a pillow, happily he rested his head on it and he could hear the sound of the rain.
"Harry this is one of the most beautiful things anyone has done for me" he said wiping the tear that fell from his eye.
Harry: You can return it to its original size by hitting it twice with your hand.
"You really are a brother." Ron said immediately going to try his new gift. This time he had one of the best sleeps of his life and didn't wake up until the next evening, he had slept for more than 24 hours.
Days later, the students were allowed to go to the village of Hogsmeade and they went there as a group of five with Hermione, Ginny and Luna.
They visited the candy stores and had a little fun when Harry and Ron saw The Minister of Magic, McGonagall and Hagrid outside an inn and chatting with a woman about Sirius Black before entering it.
Harry: If only I had my cloak.
"Had to be said" Ron said before snapping his fingers and Harry's cloak appeared.
Harry:…
Ron: It's recall or summoning magic, I'll teach you later but go ahead and tell me.
He left to listen to them and Ron went to sit watching the girls having fun, several other girls present kept looking at him so Luna came and sat next to him and rested her head on his shoulder .
Ron: It's not fair, it's my position!
Luna: Too late...
They talked a bit and Ron asked her to tell him about the creatures he didn't know about and that she said she saw so she did so enthusiastically as usual because she knew Ron believed her.
While they were having a good time, Harry stormed out of the building without saying anything to them and that intrigued Ron and the others who followed him. They tried to stop him but he didn't stop.
They followed him until he sat down somewhere to cry under his invisibility cloak.
"Are you okay Harry?" Ron asked taking off his cloak to see his friend in tears, the girls quickly moved closer.
Harry: He was their friend...he betrayed them! HE WAS THEIR FRIEND! I hope he finds me, when that happens I'll be ready, when that happens I'll kill him...
Ron: Okay I'll be there to help you but tell us in detail what was said there.
He began to tell them what he heard about Sirius and his betrayal through the murder of Peter Pettigrew.
The weeks passed and the snow melted. Lupin invited Ron to a certain event, a secret hearing on the school premises where the Minister of Magic and the Board of Trustees would pass judgment on Hagrid and Buckbeak the Hippogriff in relation to the assault on Draco Malfoy at his father's request.
He had been appointed as Hagrid's witness by Dumbledore and when he arrived there, he saw Draco in front of the judges and the minister as well as Lucius Malfoy in the assembly.
Lupin set him up and he watched the whole charade put on by Malfoy and his father with a good portion of the corrupt congregation standing on their side. When we gave him the floor, he stepped forward.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the assembly, I am losing my magic in the face of the absolute ridiculousness of this situation. I was there in Fantastic Beasts class when the incident happened, as were many other students, and nothing that happened was the fault of the hippogriff or Hagrid, but of Draco Malfoy himself who didn't have the intelligence to apply what he was told to approach this creature ." He said calmly and the people who supported the Malfoys started to get angry, the minister asked for silence to allow Ron to continue.
Ron: Thank you, Minister. A hippogriff is not a rat, it is not a cat and even less an owl, it's a fantastic beast, intelligent and gifted with great pride. For extraordinary creatures such as him, an approach where classical treatment is impossible and all of you here as experienced wizards know this perfectly well if you are not hypocrites. Hagrid showed us how to approach the creature and gain recognition but Malfoy did none of that.
Lucius: Lie, this rabid animal mutilated my son.
Ron: And why didn't he attack the other students if he was enraged? I was standing near him at the time of the incident and I was unharmed. Also, I'm glad Buckbeak's so-called "victim" is here because I guess actions speak louder than words. If you allow it, Minister, Malfoy and I will approach the hippogriff, each in turn, and you will see by yourself whose fault it is.
Dumbledore: I support young Weasley in his initiative, we must see the animal's attitude with our own eyes.
Lupin: I also agree.
"Let those who agree with the initiative raise their hands" A woman near the minister asked and the majority of the room raised their hands.
Lucius: I ask to speak to my son.
Ron: Don't worry, Mr. Malfoy, your son is safe because this room is full of competent wizards ready to act if things go wrong. Whatever you want to say to him now, you might as well say it afterwards.
Minister: Proceed to the demonstration.
Hagrid placed Buckbeak in front of everyone at a good distance in front of Malfoy and everyone noticed the animal's calm.
Minister: Young Malfoy, please approach the hippogriff.
Draco walked forward slowly in fear, the idiot forgot to bow and when he reached for his hand, the hippogriff got angry and tried to bite his hand but Ron quickly pulled Malfoy back and he ended up on the ground.
Lucius: DO YOU SEE IT!!? THIS ANIMAL IS DANGEROUS!
Ron: The demonstration is not over, let me approach the animal. It's a fantastic beast, of course it can be dangerous!
The minister agreed and Ron stood facing the hippogriff before bowing gracefully and with humility, Buck saw him and bowed elegantly in turn. Slowly and with his head down, Ron approached the animal to begin petting it as Buck rubbed its head against it and clicked its beak.
Ron: As you saw, the animal didn't harm me. It's a fantastic creature gentlemen, no one recklessly approaches a dragon, a kelpie, a mermaid or a centaur. If someone carelessly mixes the ingredients of a potion and botches it will be the potion's fault? Can we handle mandrake carelessly knowing that its cry can kill us? Why would it be the hippogriff's fault if an idiot didn't listen to the professor's instructions? All of you here with this assembly are undermining the integrity of completely innocent Professor Hagrid and Buckbeak who has done nothing wrong and that's a shame coming from experienced wizards like you! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF-*HUMMHUUMMHHUUUMM*
"He's done" Lupin said and came to close Ron's mouth with his own hand as Ron continued to scream and he and Ron walked out of the great hall.
"This child is really not afraid of anything! What a problematic case!" Dumbledore said while massaging his temple.
Minister: Tell me again who that young boy was…
McGonagall: Ronald Weasley sir, a Gryffindor. He's been a top scorer for three years and is the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and in my humble opinion his performance in the sport far exceeds anything I've seen.
Minister: A Gryffindor! This explains his character...Hogwarts has a student who is as intelligent as he is frightening...
