Chapter 3

Annie quickly walks down the hallway of the apartment complex. Her head facing downwards with shame. She couldn't get over the fact that she trusted Michael right away, without getting to know him first.

" Annie! Come on, I didn't mean any harm by it!" Michael shouted from his door.

With a swift movement, Annie pressed the button of the elevator and stepped inside almost instantly. She looked up at Michael with a fierce expression but underneath all that bravery was fear. Michael wasn't able to see Annie's shaking hand constantly pressing the Ground Floor button.

Once the doors closed; Annie let out a sigh of relief. The lift goes down two floors before stopping. Annie quickly stands up straight and fixes her gym outfit. Which was only black leggings and an old white T-shirt which now looks grey. She looks at the doors when they open and stares at the man that enters.

" Oh hey, guessing the date was a fail?" Ryan says as he steps into the elevator.

"Yeah something like that." Annie mumbles.

" How is-"

"Oliver is fine, he's sleeping at a friend's house tonight. I'll be picking him up tomorrow." Annie interrupts her ex partner.

"When can I see him? I miss seeing my boy, I know I messed up but please don't take my son away from me." Ryan turns to Annie with pleading eyes.

" I'll think about it, that's all I can say." She refuses to look in his direction.

" Does he know? The man you were with?"

" I don't believe that is any of your concern, Oliver is my son and you don't have an say in my love life." Annie answers firmly whilst keeping a straight composure.

The lift suddenly comes to an holt before speaking," Ground Floor doors opening"

Annie doesn't hesitate to leave, she almost bolts out of the building. She lets out a groan when she hears Ryan shouting towards her.

" What?!" Annie fires at him.

" Please just give me another chance, I can make things right. You want a guy that works. Check. You want a guy who loves Oliver. Check. You want a guy who loves you and only you. Check Check." Ryan stares in Annie's eyes.

"One chance that's all I want, Annie please."

" You want to know what I want?" Annie takes a step towards him with a smile plastered on her face.

"Tell me and I'll give it to you, Anne. Tell me."

Annie gets up on her toes and leans towards his ear. One of her hands rests on his chest whilst the other rests on his shoulder causing Ryan's breath to quicken. Her lips gently brush against his earlobe as she speaks.

" I want you to shove what you want up your arse. You will never have me or Oliver so don't even try. You're lucky I haven't beat the shit out of you yet. Let me tell you, that is very tempting."

Annie pushes Ryan away with the smile still wide on her face. Ryan's face suddenly turns a bright shade of red. " What did you just say to me?"

" Oh don't play dumb you know damn well what I just said. If you want to act like an dumb fuck I can repeat it again. The choice is all yours." Annie's hands are both clenched as a fist, her knuckles turning white.

" You're missing out, Anne. You won't find anyone like me and you know it!" Ryan walks over to his motorbike and straps the takeaway bag to the back. He places his helmet onto his head before climbing on and revving the engine.

" You're right!" The young woman shouts over the loud engine. " I won't find anyone like you, nobody can be an stupid and pathetic as you."

Ryan doesn't even acknowledge her statement because as she was speaking he was already driven off. Causing the smile on Annie's smile to grow wider. However, the smile didn't last long because when she looked up she saw Michael starring at her from his window.
