Skyworld…
Pit and Jared rush to the door to start the level.
"We're headin' out!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared leap through the door. Jared has Clara on a phone call through his AirPods as usual.
"The Underworld Army and the Forces of Nature are engaged in battle." Palutena said, telepathically.
"What? Why are Hades and Viridi fighting?" Pit asked.
"Because they love to be annoying." Jared said, sadly.
"Isn't it obvious?" Viridi asked, telepathically.
"You again!" Pit said.
"These brutes have a complete disregard for life. They're even worse than humans!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"Ho ho ho! You're one to talk, little goddess! At least I give the humans YOU kill peace after death." Hades said, telepathically.
"We have an opportunity here, Pit, Jared. Let's use this chaos to our advantage." Palutena said, telepathically.
"OK. What's our target?" Pit asked.
Jared closed his eyes and got a vision of an explosion, similar to the one that appeared in Chapter 11's Air Battle.
"Oh. Great." Jared said, annoyed.
"Can't believe you didn't want me there." Clara said, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"It's too dangerous. I have a duty of care over you, Clara."
"Sorry, lovebirds. Let's get back to the situation at hand. Viridi is planning to drop another Reset Bomb in this area." Palutena said, telepathically.
"What? Where exactly?!" Pit exclaimed.
"I'm still not sure."
"And with Hades's army after them too, the humans don't stand a chance! We have to do something!"
A Reset Bomb descends from the sky in the distance.
"There's the bomb. We'd better hurry!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Roger! That bomb won't be resetting anything when we're done with it!" Pit said.
"What mischief are you three getting into now? Rise, my children, and pluck these dweebs from the air!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"Dweebs?!" Pit exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, but that's one point for Viridi." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Yeah? Well...every dweeb like me and Jared have their days!"
"Hmm...make that two points for Viridi."
"Um, I kind of have to agree with Palutena for that." Jared said, sadly. "Sorry Pit."
Palutena flies Pit and Jared in closer to the Reset Bomb.
"The Reset Bomb is going to wreak havoc if it hits the ground!" Pit said.
"There's NOTHING natural about that." Palutena said, telepathically.
"How do we stop it?!" Pit exclaimed.
"Careful—the bomb could explode if you just start shooting indiscriminately. Oh, I know. Destroy the green targets to remove the crown and expose the core. Then destroy the core." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Huh! It's like a shooting game. I can almost feel the controller in my hands!" Pit said, happily.
"Same." Jared said, smiling.
Jared's eyes glowed blue and he got a vision of the near future.
Jared's mind palace…
If Pit and Jared start taking too long to destroy it.
"Hurry, Pit, Jared! You're running out of time!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Shit!" Jared said, looking down at his Palutena's Bow.
"You're down to the wire!"
If Pit and Jared fails to destroy it in time.
"I'm sorry, everyone…" Jared said, letting out a lot of tears.
The Reset Bomb falls to the Overworld.
"Augh! No!" Pit said.
"We were too slow…" Palutena said, telepathically.
The Reset Bomb explodes, blowing Pit and Jared away.
Earth…
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and they went back to the brown hue they were before. Pit and Jared destroy the green targets, exposing the core.
"The core's exposed. Hurry!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Come on, bomb! Do your worst!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared destroy the core.
"Yeah! Destructimated!" Pit said, excitedly.
"Yup. And that's goodbye to that Reset Bomb!" Jared said, looking down at his Palutena's Bow.
"I don't believe this!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"I know! Isn't it wonderful? But we can't rest yet. Viridi has a Reset Bomb factory that we need to shut down. Once we deal with it, that'll be the end of these horrid things." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Aye aye! Your reign of destruction ends here, Viridi!" Pit said.
"So, Clara, what did you think of our adventure to the South Pole?" Jared asked.
As Pit and Jared continue to fly, laser beams begin firing at them from a distance.
"Long." Clara said, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"Watch out, Pit, Jared!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Laser beams?!" Pit exclaimed.
"Why do enemies always use them?" Jared asked. "Like seriously? It's really annoying!"
"Children! You must protect the Reset Bomb Depot!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"It won't work, Viridi! You have a problem with humans. OK, we get it. But more destruction won't help anything!" Pit said.
"Oh, please. This coming from the flying munitions depot himself! You're as destructive as a hundred Reset Bombs!"
"Maybe, but I'M destroying evil! And Jared is too! He has been destroying evil for a long time. It's totally different! Look it up."
"Thank you, Pit." Jared said, looking at Pit. "I really needed that."
Pit and Jared flies up and the Reset Bomb Depot comes into view.
"We're approaching the Reset Bomb Depot." Palutena said, telepathically.
"It's huge!" Pit said.
"And beautiful." Jared said, in awe.
"I'll look for a place to land." Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena flies Pit and Jared around the parameter of the depot, before bringing them up to its surface.
"Up here looks like a good spot. Prepare for landing. It could get a little rough!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena suddenly draws Pit and Jared up into the air.
"Waaaah!" Pit said, terrified.
"Be careful!" Clara said, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
Pit and Jared flies down towards their landing destination.
"I don't have much of a choice!" Jared said, worried.
Reset Bomb Depot...
Pit and Jared land on the floor of the Reset Bomb Depot.
"Just going to stroll in without backup? That's brave, if not very smart. Rise, my children! Politely destroy our guests!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"Ooo, is that a new enemy?" Jared asked.
Pit and Jared enter an area with a Bumpety Bomb.
"What is this?" Pit asked.
"That's a Bumpety Bomb." Viridi said, telepathically.
"Cute name. It almost feels wrong to destroy them...oh, well. Just watch out for their blast radius, Pit, Jared!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared destroy the Bumpety Bomb.
"I brought Cherubots for the both of you." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Thank you, Lady Palutena." Jared said, happily.
"Are you safe in there?" Clara asked, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"Totally safe."
"I can't imagine those piles of metal are very fuel efficient." Viridi said, telepathically.
"Actually, they run on goddess power, which is totally renewable." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared drop down into an arena with Underworld troops and Forces of Nature troops.
"Dang it, Hades! Get your filthy troops out of MY bomb depot!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"You're awfully cute when you're flustered, rosebud." Hades said, telepathically.
"The Underworld Army and the Forces of Nature are still fighting." Pit said.
"Then take them BOTH out." Palutena said, telepathically.
"You got it!" Jared said, smirking.
Pit and Jared defeats all the enemies in the arena.
"Destructified!" Pit said, happily.
Pit and Jared approach the Jump Pad while piloting Cherubots.
"All right, Cherubot. Good job." Pit said.
Pit and Jared approaches a Lethinium.
"Wowza!" Pit said.
"Yowzah!" Jared said.
"Lasers seem like overkill." Palutena said, telepathically.
"We usually get much bigger enemies here." Viridi said, telepathically.
"Too bad Pit and Jared are just so...tiny." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Hey, we can hear you, you know!" Pit said.
"We're big. As in we're heroes." Jared said.
Pit and Jared approaches a Mudrone.
"There's nothing like fighting a pile of mud to make a guy feel tough." Pit said.
"Talk about using muddy water." Jared said.
"Don't play with mud, okay?" Clara asked, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"I won't. I promise."
"Mudrones are pretty resilient, so you actually DO need to be tough to fight them. To completely defeat them, you have to take them down three times." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared arrives at a long pathway with electrified walls in the center.
"I really don't think we should be touching these walls." Pit said.
"Yup. It's deadly without Thor or Nora by our sides." Jared said, sadly.
"Good instincts." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Bok bok bok! What are you? Chicken?" Viridi asked, telepathically.
Pit and Jared enters another arena with Underworld troops and Forces of Nature troops.
"More Underworld forces!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"I get what Viridi has against Hades. He's destructive and evil. But what does Hades have against Viridi?" Pit asked.
"I think you answered your own question. Destruction is fun for him." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Well, five points for the squares! It's true. This is just my idea of a good time. Not that these serious ladies would know anything about having a good time." Hades said, telepathically.
"Don't even put Lady Palutena in the same sentence as the goddess of brutality!" Pit said, angrily.
"It's goddess of nature!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"I thought it was the goodness of nature." Jared said, happily.
"No, that's what I'm trying to do!"
"You'd think the lord of the Underworld would be too busy for mischief making." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Oh, no. Making mischief is one of my principal responsibilities." Hades said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared take a platform downwards.
"We're approaching the bottom of the fortress." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Everything seems to be made out of natural materials." Pit said.
"Reset Bombs must grow like fruit."
"ORGANIC fruit." Viridi said, telepathically.
"Now I want some fruit! A banana could do! Good source of potassium!" Jared said, happily.
"And when the Reset Bomb ripe, it falls off the vine and just organically destroys everything in its path?" Hades asked, telepathically.
"That's not exactly how it goes." Viridi said, telepathically.
"But I'm in the ballpark, aren't I?"
"Nature dictates that all life must eventually break down. This is just an accelerated version of that process!"
"But does everything have to break down?" Jared asked. "Have you ever been to the virtual worlds created by the Seed?"
"What's the Seed?" Viridi asked, telepathically.
"Right. Nine years early. Is this a good idea?"
"It is rather high." Pit said.
Pit and Jared hesitate at the floating platforms.
"Dash up to those floating platforms to jump on them. When the platform is lined up in front of you, go for it!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared encounter the Mimicutie down the path with floating platforms.
"A Mimicutie?" Pit asked.
"Neener neener!" Viridi said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared proceed through the depot.
"Children! Destroy the intruders!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"Man, Viridi has a lot of soldiers with cute enemy names." Jared said, smiling.
Pit and Jared encounter a Meeba.
"Yeah. Who knew there would be pretty creatures on Earth like in space?" Clara asked, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"What's the deal with this enemy?" Pit asked.
"It's called a Meeba, and it's actually a kind of parasitic fungus." Viridi said, telepathically.
"That shell will block your attacks. Try getting behind it first." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Hey! Who asked for your advice?!"
"We did!" Jared said, excitedly.
Pit and Jared hops onto a Grind Rail.
"Huah!" Pit said.
"That was quick and easy!" Jared said.
The Grind Rail breaks off, and Pit and Jared hops into the air.
"Haha!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared safely land on another section of the Grind Rail.
"Wahoo!" Pit said.
"I could get used to grinding on rails over running!" Jared said, looking at Pit
Pit and Jared hops off the Grind Rail and onto land.
"Yes!" Pit said.
"Thank you, Lady Palutena!" Jared said.
"Are the both of you always so insufferably upbeat?" Viridi asked, telepathically.
Pit and Jared approach the wobbly bridge.
"The bridge looks treacherous." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Great…" Pit said.
"Just what we need…" Jared said.
"Listen, this probably goes without saying, but…" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Yes?" Pit asked.
"What's up?" Jared asked.
"Be careful not to fall." Palutena said, telepathically.
"...Right." Pit said.
"Fight harder, children! They're just one little angel and one human! If this fortress goes down, that's the end of all Reset Bombs." Viridi said, telepathically.
"That's right. Ready yourself, goddess of nature!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared take a platform upwards.
"This is disorienting…" Pit said.
In the area with the second and third Cherubots, a random conversation may trigger.
"So, Clara, what do you think of these little side adventures?" Jared asked.
"Me watching you through my laptop screen? Kind of boring." Clara said, through Jared's AirPods. "But I get your intentions."
"Thank you. Y'know, I need an adventure that isn't in a submarine."
"Same. What do you know about our future?"
"I don't want to tell you. It's a secret."
"Fine. Guess I'll find out myself."
Pit and Jared go across a long pathway.
"This will take you to the heart of the depot up ahead." Palutena said, telepathically.
"It's so close! In Palutena's name, we will eliminate the threat of the Reset Bomb!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared heads through a door.
"It's time to put an end to the Reset Bombs once and for all!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Yup! I'm all for that plan!" Jared said, smirking.
Pit and Jared enter a room with the Reset Bomb Pod.
"Pit, Jared, destroy the Reset Bomb Pod to take down the entire depot." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Not a problem!" Pit said.
"That's what you think! Guards! Wake up and report for duty!" Viridi said, telepathically.
Multiple Forces of Nature Guards awaken and the battle initiates.
"Ugh! I should've brought more soldiers. More competent soldiers!" Viridi said, telepathically.
"Sorry about that, sprout. I'm afraid they're busy fighting my guys." Hades said, telepathically.
"But you have to admit, Hades. My troops are no joke, right?"
"Oh, yes, they're just terrifying. Quake-in-your-boots terrifying."
"There's a shell protecting the Reset Bomb Pod! How do we crack it?" Pit asked.
"I don't know. Any ideas?" Jared asked.
"Try blasting a guard into the trench. The resulting explosion will help knock the shell loose, which is your cue to fire away!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Okay. What else?"
"Get up close to a guard, and melee it into the trench. The explosion will remove the shell and let you fire directly at the Reset Bomb Pod."
Pit and Jared knocks the shell off.
"The shell is off!" Pit said.
"I guess this is shell shocked." Jared said, happily.
"Now's your chance! Attack!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"I could do with some peanuts later." Jared said, smiling.
Pit and Jared don't attack the Reset Bomb Pod before its shell grows back.
"It's rather nuts that you would want some peanuts." Clara said, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"Peanuts are good honey roasted or salted." Jared said.
"That is true. Have you tried walnuts or chestnuts?"
"The shell grew back!" Pit said. "Jared, why are you busy talking with Clara?"
"You need to attack the inside while you have the chance! Fire at the Reset Bomb Pod immediately after you take out the shell with a guard!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Okay. That's easy enough." Jared said. "Sorry, Clara."
"Dashing and doing a melee attack might be the best way to get rid of those guards. Close in on a guard, then dash and attack it." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared defeat the Reset Bomb Pod.
"Obliteration!" Pit said.
"Good. Now let's get the both of you out of here!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Epilogue.
Pit and Jared strike several poses. The Reset Bomb Pod then begins to explode, causing the ground to shake and throwing Pit and Jared off balance.
"Whoa-oa!" Pit said.
"It's been a while since I've been on a spaceship shake like that." Jared said.
Pit and Jared look around as more explosions begin to go off.
"A spaceship? Huh?" Pit asked.
"The last time, I was running around a Dalek Asylum. What a day. Clara was there." Jared said, sadly.
Palutena activates the Power of Flight and lifts Pit and Jared off the ground.
"Dalek Asylum?" Clara asked, her voice through Jared's AirPods.
"Huph-ah!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared attempt to fly out of the depot as the entire interior explodes. However, the force of the explosion catches up to the two, propelling them out the rest of the way.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaugh!" Pit said.
"This is crazy!" Jared said.
"My depot! That's it! You two are now OFFICIALLY at the top of my to-kill list." Viridi said, telepathically.
A light shines down over Pit and Jared.
"Uh-oh. I'd better get you out of there, Pit, Jared." Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena whisks Pit and Jared away.
