Dante simply smiled at Claude. He knew that Claude was actually attracted towards his granddaughter but he also knew that Claude had created a wall around him. A wall which cannot be broken by any simple measures.
' You are just like my granddaughter. You also want to grow stronger but you are doing that for freedom while Elise is doing it to get affection.' Dante thought with a smile.
" Do you know Claude what will happen when you don't have a single weakness ?" Dante asked.
" I will become free." Claude answered a bit confused.
" No you will become a monster and I am not just talking about talent but personality as well." Dante continued.
" These weaknesses are what you call them chains but they are not the chains that are stopping you from your freedom. They are the chains which are keeping your humanity."
" Have you not seen yourself, your personality and your behaviour. You are nothing like a normal child. You are like a cunning predator who won't blink an eye while killing someone."
" You are filled with hatred and rage. It gives me chills just thinking about how you will end up in the future."
" The same is regarding Elise. Unlike you she is the complete opposite. She does work hard but not for freedom or to survive. She does it for affection. Affection from her father, affection from her family."
" But the most common thing between you both is that you both carry a persona. A cover which hides your personality. In your case you hide your coldness and cruelty while in my daughter's case she hides her gloominess and sadness." Dante finally concluded.
"... That doesn't mean I need anyone's support." Claude said as he was not able to retort to any of Dante's statements. Claude knew how he was but he didn't want to change instead he would prefer that he can get rid of these useless emotions.
" Yes, that's true but what about my granddaughter ?" When Dante said that Claude flinched.
He can already imagine the state in which Elise will be. For himself he will force his way but if the only place that was beloved to Elise was taken away from Claude can already guess what she would become. And for the first time in this lifetime Claude didn't wanted to see something happen.
" So you under—" Before Dante can say anything Claude interrupted.
" Marquess of Orsini. Please leave as you are disturbing my study time." Claude said in a cold tone. Dante simply smiled helplessly and left the library.
Claude fiddled with the pages of books but he was not able to learn a single thing due to the conversation which happened earlier.
Sigh...
' I don't know what the future has for me and you but I know for sure that I won't give a merciful death to anyone who hurts you…..' Claude thought to himself.
He always thought of Ellen as someone who doesn't deserve his contempt. He thought that it was only that but how wrong he was.
He at one point even thought of wiping out the whole village after her death. At that time Claude realises how much attached he becomes to a certain person. Even if Claude doesn't care about he would still destroy anyone who attacks the one with him.
Claude doesn't realise it but even though he doesn't care about Amber if anything happened to Amber he will probably dig graves for that person.
Is it because Claude cares for that person ? No. Claude doesn't give a damn about them but for him they are his people they belong to him.
Everyone has a possessive side, in Claude's case it is way stronger. Claude won't even glance at something which doesn't belong to him but if someone harms or even touches something which belongs to him he won't look forward or backward to end the matter then and there.
" Let's focus on studying for now." Claude said to himself while shaking his head to remove all these unnecessary thoughts.
The books that Dante has given Claude are books related to discipline. Claude had read a lot about disciplines from the beginner's guide but it only had basic information regarding disciplines.
First of all, what is discipline ?
' Disciplines are a particular path in magic. From the creation of magic till this day the world's inhabitants have found many different ways to use mana. Some are creative while some are destructive.' Claude continued.
' Disciplines are different paths which are created to focus on a specific type of spell. Even if elemental magic is good the flow of time either creates an end or evolution. The evolution of magic created disciplines.' Claude concluded.
This is the definition according to the beginner's guide. Well, it can't be described because every discipline is unique and can't be categorised under a single name.
Even the name discipline is derived because it doesn't have an end and must be followed. The reason why disciplines exist is because they are meant to follow and can't be thoroughly learnt. That's why they are usually called as following instead of mastered because they can never be mastered.
The book in front of Claude had all the information regarding the disciplines while the other books include all the information about particular disciplines. Claude kept reading the basic information about the discipline hierarchy.
' The disciplines are described according to spells you can learn about them. They are again divided by some rules and regulations.'
' For example, the array master discipline of Alex has an advanced discipline named Warden. The healer has an advanced name Priest. This discipline can evolve upto a certain point but finding someone who can teach this discipline is the hardest part.'
This is also one of the reasons why imperial academy is better than other academies. You can have many disciplines along with advanced discipline as well. The imperial academy doesn't allow anyone to interfere with this system as many youngsters get tricked.
