Slip

Shi Xings words caused Jiang Wen's face to become blank. Yin Tao, on the other hand, turned completely pale. There was a hint of deep red on his face as he couldn't help but cough slightly to break the awkward mood.

"Umm, well, I didn't think that you would remember that, but…" Yin Tao continued to stutter as he spoke to Shi Xing, but the latter something strange about Yin Tao's actions. They didn't seem natural. It was as if Yin Tao was acting nervous and embarrassed, but in reality was not.

"Xinger, how could you be so rude! Hurry up and apologize." Jiang Wen finally came to and with a somewhat awkward face, she berated Shi Xing.

Yin Tai quickly raised his hands in front of him and spoke quickly. "No no, that is alright Miss Jiang Wen. She didn't say anything wrong. Hehe!" He laughed with some awkwardness in his speech.

'Strange.' Xing couldn't help but repeat this word in her mind. She got the same strange feeling from Yin Tao. His actions seemed genuine, but his eyes looked… indifferent.

Shi Xing slightly bowed and looked at Yin Tao with her beautiful eyes. "Sorry, I didn't mean anything bad." She spoke in an almost monotone manner, causing Jiang Wen feel a little awkward.

Seeing that Xing was 'apologizing', Yin Tao nodded his head with a smile before looking back at Jiang Wen with a apologetic smile. "Miss Jiang Wen, I still have some work left to do , if you wouldn't mind…"

"No no, go ahead. Don't worry about us. Thank you again for your help." Jiang Wen quickly thanked him again before the latter left the clinic.

Xing silently watched Yin Tao leave. "Strange fellow." She spoke these words out loud without even knowing.

Yin Tao who was able to hear her turned his head and smiled from behind the glass doors. Seeing this, Xing couldn't help but redden up with embarrassment. 'Did I say that outloud?'

"Xinger, do you really not know that Yin Tao?" Jiang Wen looked at Xing with some hope in her eyes.

She shook her head and smiled slightly. "No mom, I don't know him. Plus, you shouldn't look at me with those eyes of yours. I know what you are thinking, and it is not happening." Xing smiled slightly before walking out of the clinic with her mother.

"If you know what is on my mind, then you should atleast try and get closer to him. He is handsome, kind, and also a gentleman. What more can you ask for? Plus, he also seems smart." The more Jiang Wen spoke, the brighter her eyes got. Xing couldn't help but shake her head at such actions from her mother.

"Mom, you know how busy I am. I still have to get my life in order and I am in no rush to get married or even start dating. Plus, there is something strange about him that I can't put my finger on." Jiang Wen sighed regretfully as she heard her daughters words, however she recovered quickly. This was not the first time that Shi Xing had rejected a man, so she was kind of used to hearing such replies.

"Alright, you can take your time, but remember that finding a partner is just as important as work." Jiang Wen was really hoping that Xing could find herself a husband and finally live a happy life, but she knew that Shi Xing only had work on her mind.

"Yes yes, mom. Let me get you taxi home. I still need to go to my part-time job since my shift will be starting in an hour." Xing felt somewhat sad that she couldn't go to the place where her business was set up. Although there wasn't much to do there, she still needed to plan for the future of her business and find some clients to work with.

Shi Xing wanted to be a great business woman, and she planned on doing it no matter what. She was still young and so was her business so she had some time, but because of the financial situation of her family, she knew that taking her time was out of the picture. She needed to quickly start up her business and help her parents get out of their dilemma.

She quickly called for a cab and put her mother into it with a smile. "I will try and and come home for dinner as soon as I am done. But again, if I am late, start eating without me. Don't starve like last time, please."

"No way, why would I eat without my precious daughter. I will only eat when you come, so remember to come home right after work, don't go and wander the streets." Jiang Wen gave a sweet smile to her daughter before giving the address to the driving.

The car drove away and Xing couldn't help but helplessly smile at her mom's words. She knew that her mother was only saying these things so that she would come home right after work rather than going and trying to work on her business with an empty stomach.

"Huh, back to work." She had a small smile on her face as she walked slowly towards her work place. Xing's part time work was not too far from the clinic since it was the local grocery store around her neighborhood. Even the clinic was near her house so getting to work only took her about twenty minutes by foot.

She would usually start working at six, but it was only five fortyish, so she still had lots of time to spare. Xing started to walk aimlessly around the store, sometimes lifting a bag of candies or even inspecting the ingredients of some drinks.

There wasn't much to do while she waited. Her phone was super great so she couldn't play games on them, and even her friend group was not super great. Most of the people she knew went to schools abroad and so talking to anyone was not so easy.

As she walked around, her gaze turned to the ceiling of the store. The grocery store was actually much larger than other shops because it was only one that three neighborhoods could go to. It wasn't as large as malls are the major grocery stores, but it was still quite large.

Xing walked without looking around her and suddenly felt the floor become slippery. Before she could react, she began to fall on her back. KNowing that the fall would not be light, she quickly closed her eyes.

She waited a second, but she didn't feel herself hatting the wet, hard floor. "Are you going to continue to stay in this position or…" Suddenly, she heard a manly, yet familiar voice.

Slowly, her eyes opened. In front of her, directly looking into her eyes were a pair of emerald eyes. Xing blinked a couple of times and found that the emerald eyes were real and not something fake. She looked around and saw that she was laying on another person lap.

"I think that you should get up now. Wet clothes are not comfortable to wear you know." The man spoke again and this time his voice seemed somewhat helpless.

Snapping back to reality, Shi Xing quickly moved from the man's lap and got up. She looked down and saw that the person was none other then Yin Tao. His clothes were wet from the bottom and even his hands were dripping with water.

"O-oh my god. I'm so sorry. Here, let me help you." She extended her fairy like hands towards the fallen Yin Tao. The latter didn't grab onto her hand and instead pushed off the ground and got up slowly.

Feeling somewhat awkward, she pulled her hand back and looked at Yin Tao with an apologetic smile. "Mister Yin Tao, are you alright? I am sorry, I wasn't looking where I was walking and didn't see that there was water on the ground." She spoke quickly and couldn't help but bow over and over.

"It's alright. Luckily I was close by or you would have gotten all wet." Yin Tao spoke politely, but Xing noticed that his eyes were as indifferent as ever. It felt like everything he said was from a script and nothing was genuine.

"But… your clothes…" She awkwardly looked at Yin Tao's back, which was all wet and his black clothes which were completely ruined.

Yin Tao turned his head and also glanced at his wet pants and shirt and couldn't help but sigh. "It's alright. I have another pair in the car, I can just change into that. Well, I will see you later then." With that, he walked away just as suddenly as he appeared.

Shi Xing stood silently as she watched Yin Tao leave. For some reason, she remembered those mysterious emerald eyes and couldn't help but go into a daze. 'He is really strange. His eyes are always so different and show something completely different from what he says.'

Although Xing felt bad for Yin Tao and wanted to help him, there really wasn't anything she could do. Plus, Yin Tao had already left so she couldn't do anything other then go and get ready in the change room before her shift started.

'Next time I will thank him properly.'

Outside the grocery store, beside a fancy black car, a man with wet clothes smoked a cigarette. His face didn't seem uncomfortable or irritated in any way, rather there was little to no expression on his handsome face.

'Seems like I have to go back to the house sooner or later. If I don't little Sun and Xun will throw a tantrum again. I haven't seen Sun and Xun in a year, let's see how much they've grown.' When he spoke of the people named little Sun and Xun, there was finally some change in his dull emerald eyes.

Suddenly, a small smile appeared on his face as he recalled Xing's hazel eyes. "Those eyes really are pretty."
