Chapter 5: New Life

Angel's POV:

I woke up to sunlight in my face. I turned over on my side and tried to go back to sleep. "Angel?" Said a voice. No. I covered my head with my pillow. "Come on Angel. I opened the blinds for a reason." Meghan said, as she pulled the covers off me. I groaned loudly. Then I suddenly sat up and stood. I saw the Magic Council standing next to Meghan. Bryan had his hand out. I saw an aura come off it. "Good. Now that your up, we can talk to you about your new life here." He said. I couldn't speak or move. What's happening? "Don't worry Angel. You'll be back to normal." Stan said. He came over to me. "First, your gonna get ready for the day. Then we'll talk." He said. I suddenly felt free. I watched as the Magic Council and Meghan leave. I walked over to the bathroom and took a shower.

New life? This better be good. "Angel?" Meghan called. "Hold on." I yelled out. I dried off and stepped into my room to see her holding a picture. It was of my parents and me and Trey and Keisha when we were all happy. She looked at me. "Is this your parents?" She asked. I nodded. I walked over to my closet. "Back when we loved each other and weren't so broken up." I said, as I got dressed. I looked at her. "Where's your parents?" I asked, curiously. "Don't have any. I was adopted." She said. I stared at her. "Are you serious?" I said. "Yep. Woke up to the Magic Council saying that my adoptive family knew what I was and had to protect me. So I had to leave." She said. Aw. "Do you miss them?" I asked. She nodded.

"I do. But I can't go back. Thought about it though." She said, as she set the picture down. "So why don't you?" I asked. She looked at me. "Do what?" She asked. "Go back and visit them?" I said. "I can't. The Magic Council was right. They knew of me and told a whole town about me. The Magic Council had to erase their memories of me. My adoptive family had their mind earned too so they don't know who I am or that they even adopted a kid." She said. I felt sad for her. "I'm sorry Meghan." I said, hugging her. She was confused so she hugged me awkwardly. "Why are you sorry?" She asked. "Cause you no longer get to see the people who gave you a home." I said. She stared at me then laughed. "Why is that funny?" I asked, curiously.

"Cause. Angel, I was treated like second class to them. They only adopted me for the money. I do miss fighting with them though. I fought with them so much, I used my powers against them and they found out about so much bad luck hitting them. I casted so much spells on them, they didn't realize til four months later." She said. "Wow. They'd have to be pretty mean to piss off a witch." She said. She nodded. "They were. Anyways, let's go." She said. "Where we going?" I asked, curiously. "To show you around the house, around town, plus we're going shopping, and we have to show you your new school you'll be going to." She said. "So I'm really going to a new school?" I asked. She nodded.

"It's really dope. They are students there who are magical beings like me and the house. And don't worry, there are humans like you." She said. "Well that makes me feel better." I said, as I stood up. We walked out the room and downstairs to see Trey and Keisha arguing. "Bro, Steph Curry would beat Lebron James." Keisha said. "No he wouldn't. Lebron James is that nigga. He's better than Steph Curry." Trey said. They argued til they saw us. They tried it make us choose sides. I never really cared for basketball so I didn't say anything about it. "So Keisha, you coming with?" Meghan asked. "Go where?" She asked. "Shopping. The Magic Council said we have to take Angel shopping." Meghan said. "Why?" I asked. They ignored me. "Sure. Why not? Anything to get me away from this Steph Curry hater." Keisha said, knocking Trey's head to the side.

He retaliated by tripping her as she stood up. "Trey." The Magic Council said. "Okay lets go." Meghan said. "Wait. Don't you wanna wait for Aaliyah?" I asked. Meghan quickly shook her head. "No. For once, I want a day away from that bitch." She said, as she quickly walked out the door. We walked up to a nice, bright red mustang. "Sweet ride." I said. "I know." Meghan said, smirking. We got inside, only to have Aaliyah appear in the passenger seat. We all gasped and jumped. "What the hell Aaliyah?!" Meghan screamed. "Bitch, you think you slick? You really thought you were gonna take Angel shopping and me not go?" She said. "That's was the plan." Meghan muttered. Aaliyah growled at her. Like an inhuman growl.

Never heard a growl like that before. Then again, she is a demon. Literally. We drove off into town to a nice mall. It was big. We got out and headed inside. We shopped at FashionNova, Forever 21, Rainbow, and Citi Trends. We also shopped for shoes. After all that, I just wanted to go home. My feet was killing me, I was tired, I was hungry, yet the girls wanted to do more things. I didn't want to but I decided to suck it up and just go along with it. "So Angel, you like this one?" Aaliyah asked. "Hmm? Yeah I like it." I said. "Your not even looking at the shirt Angel." She said. I looked up at her. "Yeah. It's a pretty shirt." I said. She frowned at me. "Angel are you okay?" Keisha asked. "I'm fine." I said. "Angel." She said. I sighed. "Maybe I'm just hungry." I said. "Well let's go eat." Meghan said.

"What are we gonna eat though?" Keisha asked, curiously. They paused. "Zaxby's?" Meghan said. We all agreed. We walked to the car and got in. We drove to Zaxby's and ordered our food. We ate in the car. I ate my food rather quickly, as I now wanted to go home and let the food coma set in. Aaliyah drove us home and it took a while for us to get inside because we had to get all the shopping bags. It was tiring to get my bags up to my room. The girls were able to do it because they were magical beings and way stronger than me. I managed to put up some clothes but fell asleep while the rest laid on my bed. I was awoken by the Magic Council, who was standing over me. I gasped and fell out of bed. "Good, your up." Alma said, walking over to me. I held my heart. "Can't you guys make an entrance that doesn't involve scaring people?" I cried.

"We could but where's the fun in that?" Stan said. I shook my head. "What is this about?" I asked, standing up. "Angel, we're gonna show you your new school." Bryan said. "My new school?" I repeated. He nodded. "You guys were serious about that?" I said. They nodded. "Wow. Don't you have to like, give a heads up to the new school when they're getting a new student?" I asked, curiously. "That's why we did it yesterday." Alma said. She sat down on the bed. "Angel, tomorrow is the day you go to your new school. You'll have your education, everyone in the house goes to the same school." She said. "I don't know anything about this school. I don't even know what it looks like." I said. Bryan made a laptop appear in his heads. He opened it and began typing. He turned it around so I could see. "That's your new school." He said.

I gasped. "It's beautiful." I said. I looked at the building. "And it's huge. I love the red color." I said, excitedly. "Greenwood High. That's gonna be your new school, starting tomorrow." Bryan said. I smiled. "I can't wait." I said, happily. The Magic Council left soon after that. I climbed in bed and began to doze off. But my phone ranged. I reached over an answered it. "Hello?" I said. "Hey bitch." Kacey said. "Hey Kacey." I said. "You sound tired." She said. "I am." I said. "Well all the shopping you did and unpacking, I can see why." She said. I made a face. "Do you ever stop spying on me?" I asked. "Nope." She said. We talked a little bit more. "So. You excited about tomorrow?" She asked, curiously. I checked the time. 10:40 pm. "Now that it's close, not really." I said.

"What? Angel." She said. "Well. I'm nervous now. I was excited earlier." I said, honestly. "Don't be. You'll be with me." She said. I smiled. "I'm happy for that." I said. I rolled over and stared out the window. "Hey Kacey." I said. "What's up?" She asked. "You feel like going to Lake Light?" I asked. "Wish I could love. Doing Darwin's chores since he's sick." She said. "Awww. I hope he feels better." I said. "Hey what about me? I'm suffering because he licked a swing set." She said. "Kacey that's not nice." I said. She mocked me. "Well I gotta go. I gotta do the dishes." She said. "Night." I said, before hanging up. I stared out the window before getting up. I went to my closet and looked for a jacket. I put it on and went downstairs.

I saw Alma staring blankly at the TV. Can't let her see me. I tiptoed downstairs to the kitchen. She was still staring at the TV. I looked at the door. Almost. Just then, a pair of keys were thrown at me. I jumped and looked to see Alma staring at me. "Oh h-hey Alma." I said, sheepishly. She stared at me. "Where are you going?" She asked. No use in lying. She'll figure it out. I sighed. "I was going to Lake Light." I said. She sighed then came over to me. "Angel, it's actually called Light Lake." She said. "I knew it was that one." I whispered to myself. "And here's the keys to your new car. Be careful. Lots of magical beings are out this time of night." She said. "I'll be careful." I said. I picked up my keys and headed to the door. She grabbed my arm. "No I mean really be careful." She said.

"Alma, I will." I said. I opened the door and headed to the garage. I opened it and saw over ten cars. Which is mine? I pressed a button on the keys and a car lit up. "There it is." I said, walking over to it. It was a black and lime green Camaro. I got in and pulled out. I drove around in the night. Alma was right. Magical beings were out and about tonight. I seen some flying over me. I seen some wolves running in the night. They were playing with each other. I took deep breaths and drove faster to Light Lake. I finally made it and parked. I got out and walked up to the lake. The way the moonlight reflected off the lake made me happy. I dipped my fingers in the water. I smiled. I then heard something behind me. I turned around to see a huge, brown wolf staring at me.

Oh shit. I froze. It stared at me as I stared at it. I was scared to move, out of fear of enraging it. Then it took a step towards me. My heart raced. It came closer until I let out a huge scream. That seemed to make it mad as it ran and jumped on me. I began to cry. Then it changed into Trey. He was smirking. "Yo scary ass." He said. I slapped him. Hard. I quickly kicked him and stood up. "That's not funny, you jackass." I said. He was laughing. "Man you should've seen yo face." He said. He began to mock my crying. I sniffed and wiped my face. I stormed back to the car and got in. "What you doing out here anyway?" He asked, as he put his arms on the window. "I wanted to come out here to relax. You ruined that." I said.

"Hey. Your lucky it's just me out here. Had it been anyone else, they'll kill you without hesitation." He said, as he transformed. He took off running. I followed him. We both went back to the house. I pulled up and got out. Trey transformed and walked beside me. "Trey, why were you out tonight?" I asked, curiously. He looked at me. "I had to hunt. I was hungry. I caught a deer and ate it. Then I found you." He said. I shivered at the thought of him catching and eating a dead deer. We walked inside the house and was met by Meghan. She was sitting on the countertop in the kitchen. "Hey Meghan. What's up?" I asked. She looked up at me. She turned her phone around to show me some people I never seen before.

"Who are they?" I asked. "My old foster family." She said. I stared at her. "You miss them?" I said. "Nope. I'm just deleting pictures of them off my phone." She said, nonchalantly. "Meghan, it's okay to miss them." I said, touching her arm. She chuckled. "It's okay Angel. I got out all the memories I have of them. I cried my first few months here because I did miss them. Alma let me see them one more time three years ago. They weren't very thrilled to see me as I was of them." She said. "Oh. I'm sorry." I said. "Dork be. They weren't my best foster family. The one I had before them were incredible." She said. "So why didn't you stay with them?" I asked, curiously. She looked down. "They were killed in a car crash on the way to pick me up from school." She said. I hugged her in an awkward position. "I'm sorry love." I said.

She squeezed me. "Me too. It all happened so fast. I was planning on telling them about myself, about how I have powers. I saw the car coming up the road. My little brother yelled out the window saying they had McDonald's. My favorite food. A large truck came speeding around the corner and slammed into them. There was this huge explosion. I can still remember it so clearly. My little brother and sister screams. My Mom trying to get them out the car as quickly as possible. My Dad tryna to undo his seat belt to help. Then the car exploded. I had to watch the one family that actually loved me go up in flames. Literally. It was tragic. So it was back to the adoption agency for me. Then I met my adoptive family." She said.

She then wiped my face. I hadn't even realized I was crying. "That's must've been horrible to watch." I said. My voice cracked. "It was. I was in therapy for two weeks before my adoptive family cut it, saying I needed to get over it. That's I needed to be strong." She said. "Why did they adopt you if they were gonna great you like shit?" I asked, curiously. She looked at me. "Ya know I asked myself that question everyday. 'Why did they take me if they didn't want me?' I guess they were just in it for the money." She said, as she got down from the counter. "I can't imagine your life Meghan." I said. She looked at me. "Don't worry. I'm still young. I still got a lot to do in life. And so do you." She said, smirking. She put her arm around me then walked us up the stairs.

"What is there for me in life?" I asked. "A lot." She said. "I don't see any. My parents are drug addicts, dudes at my old school just want me got sex, and my principal is a pervert." I said. "And your lucky the Magic Council intervened when they did. They don't just rescue just anyone. You have to be special for them to take you." She said. "Whats so special about me? I live a poor life." I said, honestly. "A life that's special to us Angel." Said a voice. We turned around to see Alma. "Meghan's right. We don't just rescue just anyone. Now both you. Bed. You got school." She said, before disappearing into a portal. Meghan walked me to my room before turning away to go to her own. "Hey Meghan?" I called. She looked at me. "What's so special about my life?" I asked, curiously. She stared at me before smiling. "Everything girl. Especially for you." She said. I stared at her before smiling.

I walked into my room and climbed in bed. So my life is special huh? I thought about before drifting off into sleep.
