Chapter-15

"After all, Merlin was essentially clairvoyant, an elite Marine Corps member. It would be absurd to imagine him injured. This was a Hell's Kitchen suburb, the heartland of the Mexican-Irish gang. Eliminating the entire gang meant killing its core members. The remaining foot soldiers would disperse without their leaders. Targeting every gang member was impossible; they were scattered across countless locations. Even if found, tracking them down would be time-consuming.

'He's heading towards Thirty-sixth Avenue,' Merlin's urgent voice crackled through the headset. 'Predicted destination: Brooklyn Police Station. You need to stop them before they reach there.'

'I don't want a second mission,' Frank replied grimly.

His eyes widened in shock. Without hesitation, he raised his hand and executed the still-breathing gang deputy. With practiced agility, he leapt from the window and descended to the first floor in a matter of seconds."

Frank ignited the engine and sped off, following Merlin's calculated route.

"Let's change the route," Merlin suggested, frowning after assessing the distance between them. He opened NY City's map and began replanning their path. "Looks like we're still going to make it."

Merlin swiftly adjusted the route, minimizing the map and inputting the new coordinates. "There's an intersection in a kilometer. Turn left onto the ring road. And when you see a red light, don't slow down; just go."

"Got it," Frank replied, already accustomed to Merlin's unconventional tactics.

The modified vehicle roared onto the ring road, drawing countless curious eyes. Despite the late hour, Brooklyn's streets were still bustling with traffic.

Curious onlookers whipped out their phones to capture the spectacle as Frank's vehicle tore through the streets. Soon, the first traffic light loomed ahead, its crimson warning flashing in the distance. Ignoring the signal, Frank kept the accelerator pressed to the floor. A dramatic shift occurred as the red light abruptly turned green, just as Frank's car passed.

The rest of the journey was a surreal blur of green lights. Even as the vehicle exited the ring road and plunged into the city, the traffic gods seemed to be on Frank's side. Frustrated drivers watched in disbelief as the green light turned red almost instantly after Frank's car sped past, leaving them stranded. The Inclined Demonic Treasure, as Merlin had dubbed it, carved a brazen path through the urban landscape.

Brooklyn - a bustling area where various cultures collide, though not as affluent as Manhattan. Salil Alves, a Mexican businessman who primarily sells drugs, has formed a gang with other Mexicans in Hell's Kitchen, working alongside the Irish. Paying off the Brooklyn Sheriff every month allows for more profit than he could ever achieve in Mexico with its abundance of herbs.

But today was unexpected - a foolhardy intruder stormed into his lair and single-handedly took out his men like an unstoppable force.

"Foolish waste of money, raising them for nothing!" Alves fumed as he realized his entire operation was being destroyed by one person.

Even the traffic lights seemed to taunt him along his route, adding to his irritation.

Luckily, he finally reached the police station after crossing one last street, giving him a momentary sense of relief.

"Ding!" The red light turned green, and the vehicle in front slowly started to move forward.

"Fuck, can you hurry up!" Salil honked the horn angrily at the slow-moving vehicle in front of him.

However, this seemed to anger the driver in front. The vehicle that was about to start suddenly stopped.

"Fuck!" Salil slammed the horn with gritted teeth, and the harsh whistle echoed under the night sky.

But then something unexpected happened. The traffic light, which had just turned green, suddenly switched back to red.

The driver of the car in front was also dumbfounded.

"What the hell!" He was about to step on the accelerator and rush through when a modified car, probably only as high as his off-road vehicle, turned right and merged into the lane next to him.

Inside the car, a familiar man pointed a shotgun at him.

But it was too late; Frank had already pulled the trigger, and the explosive bullets roared out!

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

On the street, a black off-road vehicle exploded on the spot, and Salil inside was consumed by the flames.

"Oh my God, everyone behind me is so angry!" The driver in front was startled and quickly left the scene of the explosion, ignoring the traffic light.

Frank retracted the shotgun, feeling a moment of relief as the burning off-road vehicle signaled his revenge.

"The response speed of these police officers is quite fast. Do you plan to surrender or become the light of the city?" Merlin's words echoed in his mind.

The piercing sound of police sirens filled the streets, and one police car after another quickly pursued Frank.

"By the way, you are now at four stars. It's not bad to be a five-star good citizen. The first one to unlock that gets a mysterious reward," Merlin said with a tone of excitement in the headset.

"I checked and found out that the police chasing you are colluding with various ethnic gangs. You don't have to worry about hurting innocent people. How about that?"

Frank could clearly hear the excitement in Merlin's voice and sensed his eagerness for a big fuss. Having exacted his revenge, Frank just wanted to find a quiet place. He didn't bother asking what the four and five stars meant.

"Is the mission accomplished?" he asked.

"Well, it's such a pity," Merlin replied, clearly understanding Frank's intent, and sounding a bit regretful. "As long as you escape the pursuit of the police, the mission is accomplished."

"If there's no way to escape, I can pick you up, but I will charge another 10%."

From the initial 20%, plus the 3% from the bet, Merlin would get a total of 33%, nearly half.

"Okay," Frank said, adjusting his breathing. He glanced at the police cars chasing him and sped up.

However, Frank soon noticed the helicopter hovering in the night sky above and his expression became serious. Something was wrong.

"Merlin! What happened? Why did so many police forces suddenly increase?" he asked, suspicion creeping into his voice as he considered Merlin's abilities and possible involvement.
