Chapter 4: Guardian of the Woods.

Where am I? I begin to wonder. This place is nothing like my old home. Am I all alone here? Who moved me in the first place and why did they bring me to a food source. As I look around I begin to notice several other glimmer caps hosted on what appears to be an assortment of plant creatures.

Suddenly, a rustling in the underbrush grabbed my attention. I swiveled my bioluminescent cap towards the source of the sound instinctively, revealing a large Mushroom humanoid. Atop its slender neck sits a captivating, broad mushroom cap. The cap has a striking iridescence, showcasing a kaleidoscope of hues shimmering blues, greens, purples, and golds. The colors shift and change as light dances across its surface, giving the Glimmer Cap an ethereal glow. The cap's surface is adorned with delicate, intricate patterns that resemble fine filigree, creating an impression of ornate design. The face of the Glimmer Cap is adorned with soft, bioluminescent markings that form patterns resembling elegant, expressive eyes, and gentle, enigmatic smile. The rest of the creature's body is slender and graceful, with limbs resembling slender stems of varying lengths. The stem has a smooth, pearlescent texture, exhibiting a subdued luminescence that complements the cap's dazzling display. The Glimmer Cap exudes an aura of tranquility and wisdom. Its presence is calming, evoking a sense of reverence and wonder. When it moves, it leaves a trail of faint, lingering sparkles, adding to its mystique.

Is this what I look like? The Glimmer cap fungus spots me! I shiver in fear because this creature is three times my size. What could it possibly want with me? Instinctively I begin to put my guard up showing a low level form of armed combatants.

The mushroom comes closer to me, intrigue setting in as it begins thinking out loud to itself

"They shouldn't be ready for another seven years. I'm glad I was in the area, this one has mutated, what a surprise... He will have to do for now."

Seven years??? I can't understand what that could possibly mean. Was I raised too early? I guess this must be some sort of mother of the species or even a midwife.

The GlimmerCap midwife begins to mutter to herself "It looks like this one hasn't even formed a core, this just won't be due. I'll have to take em over to the…" trailing off into some kind of tangent about some kind of training hall. As I begin to wonder with my thoughts about what was said I hear "Hey youngling, do you hear me? I'm talking to you. You need to keep up. We are moving out of this area. It's too dangerous for you to be out here like this." reaching for me the being scoops me up and holds me in its arms. To my surprise the Glimmer Cap is more friendly than I initially thought.

Traveling through the forest the glimmer cap stops at several other locations full of colonies of mushrooms. All of which looked very similar to the cavern I came out of. "I knew it was an anomaly, there is no way for this young one to even be yet. I wonder if this is an omen from the forest. Maybe something bad is coming our way."

"Do you understand me, young one?" To my surprise, a direct question out of nowhere. I hastily nodded my cap hoping that it would understand this gesture. "Good, it looks like I know where to take you then"

I try speaking for myself but it seems nothing is coming out. Where is she taking me? Should I hide that I came from another world or would they even understand to begin with. We pass by many relic cities, I begin to doubt there are even humans left in this world. Would this creature even know what a human is…
