Salvation

William retraced back his steps, going back along the way he came. He decided to leave his fate to god's hands and wait for "salvation", more specifically help.

Who knows, perhaps someone will pass by and pick William up!

Although the cubic-shaped building looks out of place and bizzare in such an environment, it is undoubtedly the safest place he can find. William didn't spend more than an hour walking before he met that pus-filled two meter humanoid monster, just from looking at it's back gave him hallucinations and illusions, who knows what will happen to him if that monster set his eyes on him.

William felt that this desert is filled with many dangers, since he does not know the geography very well, and can not use the stars to navigate, staying in that building is definitely the most suitable choice for him if he wants to stay alive.

"Sigh, don't tell me I'm going to end up dead in this desert?", William lampooned to himself as he thought about his dilemma, "It's all that bald monkey's fault! If only he did not teleport me to that strange space above the clouds, or to this cursed continent filled with demons and monsters.."

"It doesn't matter..", William smiled bitterly, "It's unlikely that I'm going to survive this ordeal."

"I wonder how Dad, Mom, Noy and the others are doing? Although Dustin and Cecilia are not my 'real' parents, they still showered me with love and affection.", thinking back to the time when his dad gave him the spiritual-root enhancing elixir, William sighed emotionally, "Dustin said that one of my grand-uncles, an elder of the clan, gifted me that elixir... It is only after reading the [Pure Yang Immortal Body] technique that I realized such elixirs are nigh-impossible to concot and buy. It is unlikely that an elder of the clan gifted me such a precious potion, I wonder what kind of price dad has paid to get the spiritual-root enhancing elixir in his hands.."

Since his situation is not very optimistic, William's thoughts started to wander as he thought of all sorts of random things. Unknowingly, he forgot his sense of direction and wandered off from the path.

"Shit...", realizing that he lost track of his location, William tried to find his previous footsteps only to find that sand has covered them a long time ago, "What the heck? Is my luck really that bad?"

Slowly but surely, William was overwhelmed by the pangs of despair. That cube-shaped building was his only kindling hope, now it was extinguished because of his stupidity and carelessness.

"I really have ADHD!", William mocked himself self-deprecatingly, no matter where he casts his gaze, all there is to be seen is a golden landscape that stretches endlessly into the horizons.

He squatted down and covered his head with both arms, the ancestor's ravings are back!

"Wake... up... Wake... up...", veins popped up in his forehead as the buzz-like murmurs of True Immortal Godfrey echoed in his ears like drums, the intensity of this round of ravings are more prominent than the previous ones.

"Wake... up... Wake... up... Wake up... Wake up...", it got faster and faster, giving William an unbearable headache. He grabbed the sand with both his hands and tried to bash his head against the ground, he wanted to fight pain with pain!

"AGHHHHH!"

Unfortunately, he did not feel 'better' no matter how many times he bashed his head against the sand. There was not even 'damage' or 'pain' that alleviated the headache coming from the ancestor's ravings, in fact, it only served to agitate the ravings and make it even more painful.

Using what remained of his lucidity, and adding on top of it the conclusion he came from the previous encounter, William slowly thought of a word: "Danger!"

Whenever the ravings of the ancestor appeared, it means that there is danger nearby!

First, it was the dream. If he did not wake up that night, perhaps he would've frozen to death under the cruel environment of the desert.

The second and third time, it was when he was wandering the desert in search of some sort of civilization, although he did not see the "danger" with his eyes, William believed that it was not that far away.

The fourth time was when he looked at the back of that disgusting monster of filth.

And now... He is hearing them the moment he found himself lost.

On top of that, the intensity of this round of ravings is unprecedented.. second only to the level of the dream's ravings, which means...

'Danger is very near!', the moment he thought of this, William's eyes widened in indescribable as he lifted his head up... Slowly, pointy wooden shoes appeared in his view, they were pretty comical because the tip was exaggerated, on the side, there was some carvings depicting mockingbirds.

Boom.

It felt as though a large rock has been dropped in his heart, leaving behind countless ripples of water that overwhelmed his senses in fear and terror.

Without thinking about it, William bore through the pain of the ancestor as he turned around and made a run for it. 'It grabbed my collar!', goosebumps appeared all over William's back as he felt his collar getting grabbed by hand.

A cold sensation spread throughout his body as William's breath grew ragged, he felt hopelessness and despair, in fact, he can already see the shadow of death creeping over him.

Instinctively, William turned slightly to the right to look at the hand that grabbed him. It was a giant's hand, the palm alone was as big as William's torso, the hand's skin color was white and it was quite "dilapidated" with wrinkles appearing all over it.

Instead of using all fingers to grab William, this newcomer used his index finger and thumb to pinch at William's collar and lift him up in the air, then it turned William around. Allowing William to see the newcomer's appearance and attire.

It was an elderly man who strangely enough, had Draetrohanian looks. His well-trimmed mustache were quite prominent as they suited his thick eyebrows very well, there was a noticeable scar to the left of his nose, indicating the vicissitudes of life he went through.

The man was big, burly and quite muscular. He was almost 1.98 centimeters in height, and he was wearing a traditional priest robe resembling those worn by William's cathloic church's priests.

The man's white hair danced wildly along the deserty wind as he looked at the one-year old William, he spoke in a foreign language that William has never heard before, "#?&$£ ##!$?"

A lot of stuff was going through William's mind right now, not only were True Immortal Godfrey's ravings still echoing in his ears, he was still overwhelmed by fear and despair. He looked at the Draetrohanian-looking guy with an unfocused expression as he murmured indecipherable words to himself.

Mr. newcomer looked at the hopeless toddler in front of him as he shook his head and spoke again, this time taking the initiative to raise his voice so that William can hear him, "£?##! ?$$#"

After "accepting death", William's unfocused eyes regained back their clarity as he looked at the newcomer in front of him, although the ancestor's ravings were still echoing in his ears, he paid them no heed as he gritted his teeth, bore through with the head-splitting headache and spoke in Draehan, "Draetrohanian?"

Draetrohanian looks were so obvious, especially the groomed mustaches, coupled with his thick eyebrows, it was only natural that William thought that this burly elderly man was from the same continent as him, the Southern Domain, and the neighboring country to his clan, the Draetrohan Empire.

Upon hearing William's words, the elderly man fell into silence for a moment before he opened his mouth again: "##??$$ ££##!!"

William sighed helplessly as he realized that there is a communication barrier between the two of them. He studied the newcomer with a deadpan expression as he waited, he wanted to see what kind of actions would this elderly man take?

'Being grabbed by the collar is pretty uncomfortable, can't this brute put me down already?', in order to ease the situation and calm his heart, William lampooned to himself inwardly.

He already gave up all resistance and handed his fate over to this burly man, the ravings of True Immortal Godfrey were still echoing in his ears, which means that danger has not passed yet.

'Who knows, maybe this Draetrohanian-looking dude will be my savior... Huh, since the ravings of the ancestor are still going on, it means that this guy definitely has ill-intentions.'

It was only now that William realized the broadsword attached to the elderly man's back, it was black in color and the edge shone slightly in dark green. William's eyes narrowed as he remembered a certain padlock that was similar in color and materials, 'Adamantite!'

An adamantite padlock was used to lock the door decorated with dragons, clouds and Buddhas. It was the door William used to meet the Buddha who gave him the [Pure Yang Immortal Body] technique, and it was the same door Noy broke using his punches.

'This guy is definitely one of those Immortals and Cultivators, I wonder what Rank is he? And what pathway is he from? Perhaps the earth-path? This is the Demon Continent, and it is filled with nothing but sand... Hehe, perhaps sand-path?'

William's facial muscles twitched as he found the ravings more and more unbearable, blood seeped from the corners of his mouth as he realized that danger is very, very close!

He looked at the elderly man with his crystalline, "innocent" eyes as he smiled bitterly. He believed that this newcomer is going to dispose of him anytime soon, sending him to death's door.

'Meh, I already died once, what's more a second time?', William laughed self-mockingly as he thought to himself, 'If I were to say my regrets, perhaps I would say that not exploring this mystical and mysterious world is one of my greatest if not my greatest regret. Welp, who cares anymore...'

The Draetrohanian-looking man's thick eyebrows twitched.

'Here it comes...'

The man released his grip and dropped William to the ground, then he reached out for the broadsword behind his back and grabbed it. Seeing this, William closed his eyes as he waited for death's knell, his muscles unknowingly clenched up as True Immortal Godfrey's ravings grew unnaturally loud.

Just like the dream, blood poured down from William's orifices, staining his aristocratic robe in crimson-red blood.

WHOOOOSH.

A wave of wind blasted through William's face, almost knocking him one meter away from the ground.

'Am I... dead yet?', the ravings unknowingly stopped, meaning that danger is no longer here.

William slowly opened his eyes... The Draetrohanian-looking man was looking staid and steady, his right hand grabbed the broadsword firmly. On the broadsword, green-colored "liquid" dripped from it to the ground.

His gaze was at a "corpse" that was strewn not far away in the ground.

It was a humanoid figure split in two, it had dark-green skin with tiny holes all over it, pus was coming out of these holes in an unnatural and bizzare manner, in a few seconds, a pond of disgusting liquid will form.

Countless maggots were frantically trying to escape from the two halves of the corpse, only to die the moment coming in contact with the blazing sun.

Organs and bowels were splattered all over the ground, constantly pulsing as though they are alive.

The corpse has an awful smell to it, William retched a few times the moment the odor entered his nostrils.

The moment William saw this sight, he turned his head around to avoid scarring himself for life, and avoid the "immortal undulations" coming off from the "monster".

'Wait... I looked at it and nothing happened!', William looked at the Draetrohanian-looking man from the corner of his eye, with an expectant and hopeful look in his face.

'My beacon of hope!', William chortled inwardly.

Since the ravings of the ancestor stopped, it means that this man has no ill-intentions towards William. In fact, he even took the initiative to block the harmful undulations coming off from the monster to protect William from their side-effects.

'Which means... that the ravings I've heard were because this monster was eyeing me?', William almost instinctively looked at the corpse strewn in the ground, he resisted the urge to turn his head around and only kept his gaze at the ground.

'I know for sure that if I keep looking at that corpse, I'll develop some sort of PTSD and will probably have no appetite for years to come... Hehe, it's not like I don't have a PTSD already.', William lampooned as he dusted the sand off his robe, he turned towards the elderly man who just saved his life and bowed deeply as he spoke in Draehan: "Thank you."

For some reason, the man was taken aback by William's actions, he scratched his head in confusion and said: "#??$$ !!??#"

William shook his head helplessly, 'We have to fix this communication barrier!'

'I'm pretty thirsty...', after relaxing, all William's miseries seemed to come alive as he felt a pang of hunger and thirst. He looked at the mustache man and gestured with his hands, indicating that he wants something to drink.

The elderly man seemed confused at first before a look of realization dawned on his face, he took a copper flask that was inside one of his pockets and pointed at it with his finger, then nodded his head, seemingly asking for William's approval.

'Why do I feel like I'm communicating with an ape?', William nod his head in an up-and-down motion, then the man threw the copper flask to him.

After opening the flask cap, William looked at the liquid inside then smelled it. Confirming that it's water, he gulped down as though there's no tomorrow. Of course, in order to not seen too disrespectful, he left behind a little bit of water.

'Wait a second... Why does a one-year old toddler has to care about image and respect?', realizing his "advantages", he quickly gulped down what's left.

Then he handed the copper flask back to it's owner, of course, he bowed deeply as he thanked in Draehan, "Thank you, sir!"

The man scratched his head before he raised his hand in a thumbs-up, a joyous expression in his face, showcasing his yellow teeth, 'It truly feels like I'm communicating with an ape!'
