Earning Some Money (Part 2)

"Are my eyes working alright? Three buckets are already filled to the brim and she's still pulling out more." Madam Chu was having a hard time believing her eyes.

By now, many farmers who were working nearby in the fields had also found their way toward the riverbank where the newlywed wife of Li brothers' was showcasing her talent for fishing.

"Wifey, there are too many fishes in the buckets. If you keep going on then there will be no fish left for tomorrow." Li Jun commented as he watched her pull out another huge fish. He saw a small smile appearing on his wife's face as she turned her attention toward him for a second before turning away. He was not liking that she had to ignore him because of the villagers.

"I think this is enough for today. Can anyone lend me a hand to get these buckets to the village? I want to distribute these fish to the villagers as a thank you for taking care of my husbands all these years. If not for you guys, I won't be able to marry such good-hearted men." Da Xia's words left everyone in shock.

Seeing that the girl was planning to distribute all the fish to the villagers for free, everyone became more than eager to help. Within the next ten minutes, they all were assembled in the busy square of the village, and all the passersby assembled when they noticed so many fresh and big fish.

Da Xia first took out a medium-sized fish and placed it away from the rest and then she pulled out a big fish and handed it to Uncle Bao. "This is for you, Uncle Bao. If not for your help, I wouldn't have been able to catch a single fish today. Please accept it."

Both Uncle Bao and his wife seemed to be flustered as the girl suddenly made them the hero. Madam Chu came to like the girl even more. She was not only sweet and kind but she also knew how to be grateful. Who knew what kind of good deeds the Li siblings would have done in their previous lives to find such a great wife in this life?

As soon as Uncle Bao accepted the fish, Da Xia's eyes sparkled as a smile bloomed on her face. While the people standing around were busy thinking about how kind-hearted and beautiful Da Xia was, the girl herself was busy rejoicing after receiving the system's notification.

The fish that she just gifted to Uncle Bao had gifted her with five prowess points which meant that she had already earned twenty-five copper coins. She would not have earned so many copper coins even after selling an entire bucket filled with fish. For the very first time, she was happy to have the system with her.

After that, she hurriedly started handing out the rest of the fish to the villagers while thanking them for always being kind to her husbands.

By the time all the three buckets emptied up, she had earned a total of hundred and eighty-five prowess points. And there was still a bucket left with around ten or so small size fishes in it.

After bidding her goodbye to the villagers who looked happy after getting fresh and good quality fish for free, Da Xia headed toward the west side of the village. According to the information that Li Jun provided her, some of the poorest families of the village resided in the western part of the province.

It took her almost half an hour but she did reach the western area. She found some kids playing around and a few people were passing by.

"What are you going to do now?" Li Jun asked as he looked at his wife who was struggling with the heavy bucket. He wanted to help her so badly but she didn't let him, saying that if anyone noticed then they would be in big trouble.

"I'm going to earn even more money." Da Xia replied with a beautiful smile playing on her lips before she dragged her feet toward the gate of the first house, leaving behind a puzzled Li Jun who still could not understand how his wife was earning money by giving away all the fish for free.

Da Xia knocked on the door and a few seconds later, an old grandma appeared out of the house, wearing ragged clothes and her body covered in dirt. A lady in her mid-twenties was holding a three or four-year-old kid in her arms as she too followed behind the old woman.

Da Xia greeted both women warmly before she took out two fish from the bucket and handed them over to the surprised-looking grandma.

Immediately, the system rewarded her with twenty prowess points. She probably got more points for such small fish because this time she was helping the poor families and seeing the happy faces of the people as she handed over the fish to them, she felt a feeling of calmness and satisfaction dawning over her.

It felt great to earn so many prowess points in a single day but what made Da Xia happy even more happy was the realization that because of this, many families were going to enjoy a hearty meal that night.

"You look happy." Li Jun pointed out as he followed his wifey inside their little house. They finally returned home after handing over the empty buckets to Uncle Bao.

Da Xia hummed happily as she placed the fish, that she had saved for her own family, on the kitchen counter. "I'm indeed happy," she replied as she gave Li Jun a soft smile.

"Did you earn a lot of money?" he asked even though he had not seen anyone handing his wife a single copper coin. He just wanted to know her answer.

The smile on Da Xia's lips became vibrant as she replied, "Today... I have earned the true feeling of satisfaction. I earned respect, and admiration from the people of our village. I earned a lot more than what I wanted... or expected."
