Da Xia is scared

"You are late." It wasn't exactly a complaint nor Li Wei seemed angry as he pointed out that matter. He just spoke those words calmly and continued with his work.

Da Xia looked at the small piece of land that belonged to her husbands and realized that not only did Li Wei plow it successfully in such a short time but he had also taken out all the weeds and some stones that he had found while digging up the soil.

"Brother, we only got late because of all the hard and good work that wifey did this morning." Li Jun excitedly told his brother as he approached Li Wei whose entire focus was now on the two of them.

Seeing the serious look in his eyes, Da Xia suddenly felt like telling him about what she and Jun'er had been busy doing all this morning and noon would not be the best idea. However, even if she wanted, she could not keep that a secret from him. Besides, Jun'er was already spilling out everything.

"Wifey is really nice. Today, she caught four full buckets of fish, and then she gave them all away to the villagers for free. She even thanked them for taking care of the two of us all these years." Li Jun told his brother while looking at his wife with a soft gaze.

Da Xia found her heartbeat increasing rapidly as Li Wei started walking toward her. She started fidgeting as her fingers tightened their hold around the wooden crate that held their lunch inside it.

Her breathing almost stopped for a moment when Li Wei stopped right in front of her. Though her eyes were fixed on the ground, she could still feel his gaze fixed on her face. She felt his fingers brushing against hers as he took hold of the crate, making her let go. But before she could step back and put some distance between the two of them, Li Wei grabbed one of her hands and stopped her from moving.

"I'm hungry. Let's have lunch while you both tell me about all the fun that you had behind my back." Li Wei suggested as he pulled Da Xia toward the huge locust tree that was standing at the very edge of their field.

While Li Jun and Li Wei spread the carpet under the shade before taking out the warm fish dishes that she had prepared, Da Xia remained standing nearby as she tried to observe Li Wei. She wanted to know if he was calm or angry at the moment. But his face didn't give away anything.

In the end, she just gave up and took her seat beside Li Jun, making sure to keep some space between herself and Li Wei.

"Why did you do it?" Li Wei suddenly asked as he took the first bite of the food, making Da Xia a little puzzled as to what he was talking about.

"You mean... the fishes?" She asked and found him slightly nodding his head in response to her question.

"Wifey, why are you looking so scared?" Li Jun suddenly asked when he noticed her hesitating to answer his brother's question.

Da Xia was surprised to hear Li Jun's words. He was actually right. What reason did she have to act as if she had committed a crime? Instead, she had done a good deed, didn't she? Then why was she afraid that Li Wei would be angry at her?

"I'm not." She hurriedly responded to Li Jun before she fixed her long hair that was falling all around her shoulders. "I just wanted to catch some fish for our lunch. But when I realized that there are so many fishes in the river and I can easily catch them, I just decided to do it and later gave them to the villagers."

Even though she just made herself believe that Li Wei had no reason to get angry at her, she still ended up keeping her eyes fixed on the food as she explained everything. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, the butterflies of terror were fluttering inside her stomach.

Da Xia felt a hand coming to rest on the crown of her head, making her finally look up at Li Wei. He finally let go of his poker face and smiled softly at her as he patted her head. "As long as you are not putting yourself in any danger, I'm okay with it. You did great today."

For some reason, hearing him praise her made Da Xia happier than she was after earning all the money and blessings from the villagers. She could not stop the smile that bloomed on her lips as she slightly nodded her head as she looked at Li Wei.

"Can we eat now? The food is getting cold." Li Jun suddenly spoke in a tiny voice as he looked at the delicious food that his wife had cooked.

Da Xia chuckled at his words as she picked up her chopsticks and started eating the warm delicious food that she had cooked. The three of them had their lunch under the locust tree as they chatted.

After finishing lunch and resting for a little while, Li Wei was the first one to stand up as he looked at the sky. It was currently the monsoon season but it had been more than two weeks since the last rain.

"Don't worry, it will rain in less than two days." Da Xia told her husband who turned to look at her with a confused look on his face. "How can you tell that?" he asked while returning his gaze to the clear sky above.

Da Xia immediately realized her mistake. It was the system's weather forecast where she learned about the news but her husbands were not aware of this special ability of hers. It wasn't like she wanted to keep it a secret from them but she didn't know what exactly to tell them.

"It's just a feeling but I'm sure it will rain soon." That's what she ended up saying in reply.

Li Wei nodded his head before he returned to sit with them. "The field is almost ready. We just need to buy seeds now."

"It's not ready yet. Take it and sprinkle it all over the field." Da Xia told her husband as she handed him the big pouch of powdered Purple Spirit Grass.
