30 - Zeref

I watch how Lucy runs away. My heart sunk into my feet as my fingers snakes through my hair. I've done this. I'm the reason why Natsu will forsake me. I did the one thing that I've promised never to do. I'm sorry dad but I had broken my commitment to you. Natsu's painful hollows doesn't help with the bitter situation either. 

Flashback 1:

"Jude Heartfilia," the older man folded his hand firmly around mine. "Zeref Dragneel," I introduced myself casually. "Let's get straight down to the point, I see that, that brother of yours had been hanging out with my daughter as of lately. Let's make a deal. What do you say?" The old man bargained. "That all depends on what you're asking of me," I replied. He gives a throaty laugh before continuing: "I have two words for you: Arranged marriage. So are you in or out? It's not like my daughter is hard on the eyes, and it seems by the look of things that your brother admires her a lot." I looked out of the window. Natsu seemed so happy when they are together, there's really no deny. "Aren't they a little to young to be wedded? I mean she is only five of age," I stated obviously. He snorted halfheartedly at my reply. "The sooner I could get rid of that little brat the better. She's turning Layla against me by telling her what piece of shit I am and how I'm treating her when her mother isn't around to see. So what do you say partner, are you in or out?" I nod my head in an answering manner before vocalizing my response: "Deal. What precisely do you want me to do? You know that my Brother and I will be moving away in little more then a week. After the tragic passing of our parents we both need a fresh start." "I'm completely aware of that. Layla wants a divorce, we've agreed that I'll take custody of one of the girls while she'll be keeping the other. It wouldn't be for to long because we both know how many people's after my head. Back to the matter at hand," he reach into his drawer and pulled out an envelope, handing it to me. "When she's of age I need you to track her down and continue with the preparations, you'll find all that you would need within that brown wrapper," he clarified. 

Flashback 2:

I look at my father as he sits down at the foot of my bed. "Son, I need you to promise me something," he asked of me. I give him my undivided attention. "You're mother and I are wanted criminals. We haven't killed anybody, but we've done something terrible nonetheless. I need you too look at your brother when we're gone. Promise me that you would stay away from condemnable activities. Promise me that you would never do another human being wrong and always look out for your brother, my boy. Don't trust just anybody who claims that they had known me and even if they had they're not your friends. Stay away from them and be safe my child," he confided in me. A lone tear escaped my eye which my father dubbed away with the pad of his thumb before pulling me in for a firm yet tight hug.

Flashback 3:

I pull the envelope out from its hiding place and studied the contents for weeks before I finally furthered my search. It took me a few years to actually find her and when I had I made an excuse to Natsu about a work appointment that I need to accompany and about the remote possibility of moving once it's finalized. I were surprised to find out that she was in a relationship with somebody for the last six years. So I made up a plan to separate them for an evening and to my astonishment it worked out for the best. I invited the both of them to a housewarming party that was scheduled for the same day that family plans on her side had already been made.

I planned it using all of the facts and details that I had in the palm of my hand. He arrived alone just as I've planned, glad that he took the bait. He and a certain blue haired maiden seemed cozy together, like they knew each other and I knew that, that was my ticket out of this mess. I offered them both a serving of alcohol-free eggnog but not before I spiked it with something stronger then just your normal illegal drugs. Within no time at all they were all over each other taking it up to a room. I had successfully completely part of my mission, now to get them together for the long run.

I never though that breaking them up would hurt so much. I haven't just destroyed Lucy and Grey's happily-ever-after but I had also ruined the relationship that she and my brother already had, and that's all thanks to me. Natsu's sitting form in the dirt is all my doing. I know that he had lost her for good as I watch her bulleting down the street.
