Lizardmans Attack

It's been 1 year since Ben arrived on Earthland. He learned a lot about magic from the book he borrowed from Roubaul. He also kept training and getting stronger every day.

Their job is still hunting like usual, and they've reached deep in the forest. They also kept observing the Lizardmen that haven't made any move since they found the nest 9 months ago. However, there is a change right now; they've found trails of Lizardmen around their village.

"The Lizardmen might attack anytime now. The scouts have seen them preparing their weapons. There are around 231 Lizardmen capable of fighting, so we need to be careful." - Roubaul

"What's our plan, Gramps?" - Ben

"Stay in the village, and wait for them. We'll prepare some defensive measures to fight them here. We'll prepare traps around the village that can help to break their scales." - Roubaul

"Won't it be better to take the initiative? They won't suspect us to attack their nest at all. Although they're intelligent, they're not humans. They won't have any defensive mechanism that can protect their nest from us. We have mapped their nest, so it's a very big advantage that we have over them." - Roubaul

"No, it's not that easy. Lizardmen's scales are very tough; it can even protect them from your current dragon's roar." - Roubaul

"What?! Are you serious?" - Ben is surprised

"Yeah, that's why many people hunt them for the scales, and many of them didn't return. Lizardmen have tough scales and a very strong body; don't underestimate them!" - Roubaul

Ben is surprised that his dragon's roar can't break the Lizardmen's scales. Ben's dragon roar is a basic dragon slayer spell, but it has great power. Even Roubaul says that Ben's spells are very strong now, and he can be considered as a high C-class mage, almost a B-class.

Even so, his spell can't break Lizardman's scales easily. He needs a lot of hits before he can break the scales slowly. Lizardman is a species that has immense durability after all. People even consider them as a human version of a dragon, although it's clearly an exaggeration.

Ben finally agrees with the plan, and they all start preparing their plan. The guild members place many traps in the forest around the village. They're not a rich guild, so their traps are just some traps made of rocks or woods.

"Gramps, if even my dragon roar can't break their scales, these traps won't do it either." - Ben

"What can we do? We don't have a lot of resources to make strong traps. At least, these will weaken their scales a little. If we have empty lacrima crystals, then I will be able to make them into explosive lacrima. That will break some of their scales, or at least weaken them." - Roubaul

"Lacrima?! I know where we can find a lot of lacrima crystals!" - Ben

"Really?!" - Roubaul

Ben remembers the cave that he found on his way out from the forest after he just arrived on this world. That cave is filled with a lot of Lacrima crystals. If he can take those lacrima crystals, Roubaul will be able to make them into weapons.

"If you can take those crystals, we will have more chance to win this. But can you take them today?" - Roubaul

"Yeah, but I'll need Wendy's help to get there faster & to carry more crystals." - Ben

"Okay then, you guys take the crystals, while we keep guarding the village." - Roubaul

"Okay." - Ben

Ben takes 2 pickaxes and a wood cart to store the crystals. Then he takes Wendy to the lacrima crystal cave. Wendy enchants Ben to make his body lighter so he can run faster. Ben also uses his light element on his feet to make him run even faster.

Ben pulls the cart with Wendy & their pickaxes in it too. Ben follows the direction that A.I Chip shows him. A.I Chip has marked the cave, so he doesn't need to find the way again. They arrive in 15 minutes, and immediately enter the cave.

"This place is still the same as 1 year ago." - Ben

"Is this all the lacrima crystals?" - Wendy

"Yeah, let's get to work! We need to be fast right now." - Ben

Ben & Wendy then start to harvest the lacrima crystals. They take as many as they can and fill the cart until it's full. They finish after 30 minutes, and the cart is full to the brim now.

Ben & Wendy then return to the village with the cargo. They need to be fast but also careful because the cart might flip, or the wheels might break. Of course, Wendy puts an enchantment on Ben to make him stronger & faster.

They arrive in the village after 1 hour, and luckily the Lizardmen haven't come. They take the crystals to Roubaul, and he is surprised by the quantity & quality of the crystals.

"These are good lacrima crystals; we can make many things from them." - Roubaul

"You can make them later; there are a lot of crystals there. So hurry up and make the explosive now!" - Ben

"Ah, that's right." - Roubaul

Roubaul then starts to process the lacrima crystals into explosive. Ben & Wendy are tired, so they just sit there while looking at Roubaul. Ben is watching the process intensely. He is really curious about magic items making.

Roubaul starts to process the crystals into explosive. Usually, craftsmen will shape their crystals into balls, but they don't have time for it, so Roubaul just cuts the crystals into the right sizes. Then Roubaul starts to put spells in the crystals.

"So it's just installing spells in the crystals?" - Ben

"Essentially yes, but it is not easy as that. It needs precision and a high understanding of the spell that you want to install in the crystals." - Roubaul

"Ooh, maybe I'll learn it. It's very useful after all." - Ben

Ben & Wendy stay there to watch the process. Then sometime later, the alarm goes off.

"They're here." - Ben

Ben puts all the finished explosive crystals in a bag. Then he runs outside with Wendy to defend the village. When they arrive at the border, they see many Lizardmen have come. Their wood & stone traps have been triggered by the Lizardmen, but it didn't give them notable injuries.

"Tch, as I thought, wood & stones aren't enough." - Ben

Ben distributes the crystals to the guild members. Then they start to throw the crystals toward the Lizardmen. The crystals explode and push the Lizardmen back. It also breaks and cracks their tough scales slowly.

Roubaul keeps creating the explosive at a fast rate. Some women also keep taking the crystals and distribute them to the guild members. They just use lacrima explosive until they run out of it in 49 minutes. Now they don't have any choice but to fight directly

"WENDY, STAY ON THE REAR AND PROVIDE SUPPORTS!" - Ben

"YES!" - Wendy

Wendy backs off, and Ben is rushing toward the enemies. Ben now covers his hands & feet with sun plasma.

"Sun Dragon's Plasma Strike!" - Ben

Ben attacks the Lizardmen in close combat using his hands & feet. The Lizardmen's scales have been cracked or broken by the explosive, but they're still tough. Ben can't imagine how tough the scales are in their best condition.

Ben finally jumps and hits a Lizardman's jaw, making it fall to the side and break its jaw's scales. The Lizardman gets hurt, but Ben also gets hurt. The sharp scales actually act like a weapon too, not only shields.

"I need more power." - Ben

Ben raises his magic's power to make it stronger. This way, he'll break the scales before it touches his skin and hurts him. Ben tries it on another Lizardman, and he is right. His fist didn't hit the tough scales because it gets destroyed by his magic already.

Ben grins and continues his battle with the green guys. Ben uses his fists & feet to attack the Lizardmen. He also gets punched sometime, and it really hurts. Luckily, Wendy casts a healing spell on him right after he gets hurt.

Ben & the guild members keep fighting the Lizardmen for tens of minutes. It's not easy to fight the Lizardmen and break their scales even after their scales get cracked by the explosives. Ben sees that his friends start to get pushed back by the tough Lizardmen.

"EVERYONE, GATHER THEM IN ONE PLACE! I WILL USE SOMETHING BIG." - Ben

""OKAY."" - Guild members

"WENDY, HELP THEM!" - Ben

"YES!" - Wendy

The guild members exert more strength to push the enemies to gather in one place. Meanwhile, Ben is eating sunlight to restore his energy.

"EVERYONE GET BACK!" - Ben

Everyone retreats, and Ben raises his hands to make a big magic circle in front of him. Then a very small sun miniature formed on the magic circle.

"Dragon Slayer Secret Technique! Supernova!" - Ben

Ben shoots the very small sun at the group of Lizardmen. Then it creates a big explosion and engulfs the Lizardmen there. The magic is based on Supernova, but the power is, of course, very meager compared to the real thing. Even so, it's enough to fry the Lizardmen, defeating them.

"Hah, I did it." - Ben smirks
