Chapter 5: Beast Skin Armor

"Block it kid."

A large ball of light floated above the floor, radiating with power and sucking in all natural magic power in the air.

Raven desperately raised both his hands in the air as he made contact with the powerful spell.

"The light is overwhelming and powerful, sweeping away all opposition with incredible raw strength. The only way to block it is to unleash your own strength. Show me your power Raven!"

Light burned Raven's eyes as he struggled to push away the magic spell. His hands burned ferociously as his strength grew stronger.

By every second Raven's magic power grew and grew in potency and size. A light yellow aura manifested around his body, protecting and shielding him from the intense heat and dense magic power.

"Light Magic: Light Augmentation!"

Raven summoned every bit of magic power in his body, pouring out all his energy into his arms. With all of his strength he pushed the giant ball of brilliant light to the side.

Baam

A large explosion enveloped the area, blasting the ground apart and leaving an enormous crater several meters deep and spanning several yards in length.

Raven collapsed from magic exhaustion almost immediately afterwards.

Master Makarov walked over with a happy smile on his face.

"You learn quickly Raven. I hope you use this ability to do good in this world. Far too many people use their strength to harm others."

"Haaah, haaah, haaah."

Raven's broken mask fell off as he gasped for air with yellow light still surrounding his body.

"Here's the 2nd step towards your progression Raven."

The old man tossed a book on Raven's body before walking away.

"This spell will grant you the ability to redirect magic spells and destroy them effortlessly. Once your able to crush boulders with your bare hands come and see me again."

Raven slightly moved his head and took a look at the book, the title read, "Crushing Opposition."

Light magic is a very strong magic, one that has been developed extensively by different masters throughout the ages.

Among those from ancient times Makarov stands out as one of the greatest light magic users to exist. Even when compared to the white dragon Weisslogia Makarov isn't far behind.

During his time as a wizard he's researched heavily in both the spiritual and physical aspects of magic.

Light Augmentation and Crushing Opposition are some of the best results he gained from his research.

Light Augmentation is a light spell that greatly enhances every physical quality of a person, so long as they have the magic power to sustain it.

Crushing Opposition is even more incredible, despite it being called a light spell it's more like a fighting style that uses magic power. With this move magic power can be broken and split, rendering all magic spells weak and useless in front of it.

After half an hour of resting on the floor Raven got up and looked down at the broken shards of his mask and the ripped pieces of his robes.

"That's annoying, but it's fine. I was going to make an upgrade anyway."

The world of Fairy Tail was fairly primitive in it's combination of technology and magic. In comparison, Raven's own creations were far superior in quality.

The mask he had before was a very simple one that didn't provide any protection and only had a single spell on it to hide his face from magic supervision.

Raven swept his hand and released various lacrima from the spacial ring on his hand.

These were all full of potent magic spells, some from extremely common magic branches like lightning, ice, fire, and earth while others were from more obscure branches like illusion, hypnosis, poison and dream magic.

Not only did Raven's pockets grow deeper with the money he got from Broken Spirit but so did his budget.

Before, he could only spare a few couple thousand to upgrade his toolset. Now he could squander several hundreds of thousands of jewels without worry.

Using his connection with Makarov and the trade channel of Fairy Tail, Raven got his hands on some really strong materials and weaponry.

After a few hours of organizing and paring together several combinations of materials Raven came up with his ultimate set of armor, at least untill he could gather "extinct" materials himself such as dragon scales.

[•Beast Skin Armor:

This item is a special set of armor that completely covers the body from head to toe, it has a high level of resistance to all types of magic. Since it is made from the combination of the skins, scales, and hides of several dozen monsters it has ridiculous durability. Due to it's various combinations of materials the armor can sprout wings to fly and even absorb the magic power around the user to a certain extent.

Along with the armor, Raven created two other tools to further assist him in combat.

[•I.B.S Gas:

This item is a gas sprayer that is fueled by several different lacrima of various types of magic. Due to it's incredible potency, most opponents struck by it will almost immediately fall asleep and die.

[•Eye Scanner:

This item is a small eye piece that can be attached to the user's pupil. It allows the user to see in various different light wavelengths and detect most disguise and masking spells. In addition, it drastically enhances the users reactionary capabilities and range of sight.

Raven choose to have no weapons, despite his lack of strength and weak combat ability he knew that relying on weapons to fight all the time would be dangerous in situations without his weapons.

Unless he learned requip magic there was always a chance that his weapons would leave his hands, it would only be a matter of time until it happened.

"Should I put it on?"

Raven dawned the heavy armor. It was a rough gray, whitish color, the chest and stomach were scaly and rough while the arms and legs were flexible and stretchy like skin.

The headpiece had two short horns poking out, and attached to the back were two folded feathery white wings that Raven could feel a physical connection to through his shoulder blades.

"Time to test it out."

With one flap, Raven took off into the air flying over hundreds of feet in just a few seconds.

"Wait a second."

Raven paused mid flight as his eye scanner zoomed in on a large magic signature quickly approaching his body.

He zoomed in a bit more and could now see a bright flash of electricity breaking through the sky directly towards him.

Down on the ground a middled aged man with blond hair held up a large gun as he looked to the sky.

"Goodbye Raven."
