Chapter 29 Explorers Guild(7)

Following the map Alex entered the blacksmith section of the Explorers Guild and what he saw amazed him. All around their were sparkling weapons and armours of various sizes and shapes sitting in glass cases giving various different auras some seemed serene and gentle others seemed fierce and bloodthirsty but all of them seemed powerful. In other cases were items such as accessories, bottles and containers releasing auras of their own but much less noticeable than the weapons and armours.

Out of all the arnaments their a jian sword arnaments caught Alex's attention. It had a black hilt and a silvery blade with a dark purple line running down the middle on both sides. The blade was around 65 cm long and radiated dark cold aura that reminded him of the liquid mana in his [Mana Pool].

'That's interesting.' Looking at the information displayed Alex was intrigued this weapon seemed to suit him to a tea. Just by looking at the name and the enchantments, Alex could tell that the arnament was suited for him. Feeling happy with his find Alex looked down towards a piece of paper dangling off the case and what he saw nearly gave him a heart attack. 1,000,000 credits that was the price tag attached to the arnament.

"Is there a problem sir?" Just when Alex was about to shout a few obscenities, he heard a calming male voice behind him say. Turning around, he saw a young man dressed professionally in a black suit walk towards him. Taking a deep, calming breath he replied.

"Why is the price of this arnament so high?"

"Ah, the [Shadow Reaper] armament huh? That fine piece of craftmanship was created by 'Child of Metal'." The youngman said with eyes gleaming with admiration.

'Child of Metal, isn't that the same guy that made the [Silver Raptor].'

"Who's Child of Metal?" Alex asked causing the youngman to almost choke.

'How the hell doesn't he know who Child of Metal is? Everyone was thought about him and his party in school.' Composing himself the youngman answered.

"Child of Metal is the only B ranked blacksmith in the world. Additionally he was also apart of the Explorers Guild guild's CEO,

Augustus Mighty, cohort which makes him one of the founders of the guild."

"If that's the case then why is an arnament that was created by the only B ranked blacksmith on the planet being sold at one of the Explorers Guild branch and not an auction house I'm sure it could be sold for way more than a million?" Alex asked skeptically. He might be from the outskirts but that doesn't mean he was completely clueless. The youngman was shocked by his question because he thought Alex was another brainless explorer like he was used to but it seems he was wrong. With a nervous cough he decided to answer Alex's question.

"It seems you don't know much about this sword? So let m..."

"Of course I don't why else would I be asking you." Alex cut in causing the young man's eyebrow to twitch.

"Ahem, anyway this sword was infact sold at an auction not too long ago infact all of the creations of the Child of Metal, including the E rank ones, are sold at auctions."

"So why is it here then?"

"W-well the thing is that uhmm the buyer wasn't able to activate the enchantments."

"What do you mean they weren't able to activate the enchantments?"

"As in they literally couldn't, no matter how much they tried they wouldn't activate?" The youngman sighed defeated. After telling someone such information he wouldn't expect anyone to want to buy it.

"Could I possibly try it?"

"Eh?"

"I mean can I try and activate the enchantments."

"Sure go ahead." The youngman said offhandedly but a flame of new hope couldn't help but burn in his eyes as he prayed that Alex would be able to activate enchantments so that he could sell the damned sword. Even though he admired Child of Metal he was still a businessman and he wished to sell the sword that has remained unsold for years. And he was pretty sure that if he managed to sell the sword his boss would probably give him a bonus as well.

The youngman opened the glass case to remove the sword. Taking the sword in his hand the sword disintegrated into a shower of sparks and disappeared into his [Mana Pool].

Shadow Eater: "This sword hungers for the for the shadows of the damned." By allowing the sword to devour the shadows of those the user has slain this blade will grow stronger.

Reading the enchantments Alex was even more convinced that this arnament was suitable for him and not just that the [Shadow Eater] enchantment allows the sword to grow by consuming the shadows of slain monsters and beasts this sword can grow stronger which probably means that it will increase its rank. Jus thinking about the possibility made Alex break out into a disturbing grin frightening the youngman a bit.

Not wasting anymore time Alex channelled his mana into the sword. He noted that his mana has changed from a light blue colour to a dark purple like the liquid in his [Mana Pool]. As soon as he channelled his through the sword it seemed to hum to life as the purple line in the middle glowed a dark purple confirming that Alex had activated the [Shadow affinity] enchantment. Staring at the scene in shock, the youngman almost fell to the ground crying at his almost guaranteed pay raise.
