Chapter 8

No matter how Anastasia try to understand Cassius, she only grew more perplexed. One moment, he would be gentle, and passionate, and the next minute he would be demanding her blood.

"I wouldn't want the wound to become infected," he frowned.

'Then stop taking my blood' she thought. He had drained too much from her, leaving her feeling vulnerable and weak. Now he want to tend to the wound that he would only draw blood later.

Reluctantly, she drew closer to him. He took out the Princess brand bandage, and gently wrapped it around her wound. She shouldn't shake the feeling of unease as he fixed his gaze on her.

"All done," he nodded with a smile.

Anastasia was still determined to escape from this tower someday. If she could gain the trust of Cassius perhaps one day he would leave the door open, and she would escape. She would run away from this Kingdom, and change her identity.

"You make it seem like you won't feed from me again," she observed.

"Well, I'll be leaving for another Kingdom in a few days and by the time I return, the wound will be healed," he explained.

"Really?" She asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "How long will you be away?"

"For a few days," he replied.

"I will feel lonely," she said.

He smirked. "Are you saying you enjoy my company?"

She shook her head. "I don't."

In short, she wanted him dead. She hope he would get involve in a carriage accident and he would die.

"You don't have to worry, the maids would check up on you every time," he said.

Anastasia was excited that Cassius would be leaving soon. She would finally be free from the constant fear of his lust towards her blood. With him away, she would no longer be worried about him sinking his fangs into her skin. Then, she would begin to plot her escape from the tower.

"Okay," she nodded.

He rose from the chair. "I should take my leave now. Have a goodnight."

Just before he could take a step further, lightning struck in the room and it didn't take long before the rain started pouring.

He paused in his steps before turning around to look at Anastasia.

"I suppose I'll have to wait longer until the rain stops," he said, returning back to the sofa and he settled down.

Anastasia stood up from the sofa and she headed to the bathroom to take her bath. Pouring some of the steaming water from the kettle, she undressed herself and went inside the bathtub to relax herself. As she closed her eyes, she felt all her worries wash away.

As Anastasia stepped out of the bathtub, her hair dripping with steaming water.

She was taken aback by the sight of Cassius laying on the bed with his eyes shut. He looked so pale, almost taking the complexion of a snow. He was a vampire so he was always cold. She was a mermaid and her body was accustomed to cold.

Her fingers trailed to the pendant necklace and memories came flooding inside her head. She recalled the last time she had misplaced it when she went out for swimming, and how it had took them a long time to find it in the water.

She climbed the bed before laying on the other side, far from Cassius. She slowly lifted the blanket, covering his body before tucking herself in. She still remembered what happened the previous night and how she had woken up in his arm. She didn't want it to happen again.

Yet as she stared at his features, she found herself drawn to him. The glow from the lamp fell on one part of his face. Cassius was a good looking man with sharp features. His cheekbone and jawline was well defined and chiselled. He has golden eyes and thin lips. His eye brows was thick and his short black hair fell on one side of his face.

It was as if he walked out of a realistic painting. Even in his sleep, he looked handsome that Anastasia felt the urge to poke his nose. She felt her heart raced at the sight of him. Not wanting to dwell on him for long, she turned to the other side, and closed her eyes to sleep.

As Anastasia soft snores filled the room, Cassius opened his eyes and turned his head to see her fast asleep. She laid on her back, with her hands resting on her stomach.

Unable to sleep, he slipped out of the bed and went to stand by the window staring at the moon. He turned to the cupboard, and poured himself a glass of wine, before taking a sip from it.

Meanwhile, Anastasia who was in her Dreamland dreamt of seeing herself standing by the ocean shore. She wandered along the shore, confused on how she got here. The last thing she remembered was sleeping next to Cassius.

Just as she was about to turn around, and find her way back, the sky grew dark. Anastasia eyes widened in shock as she saw s figure emerge from the ocean, her piercing blue eyes fixed on her.

"I have been waiting for you," the figure smiled.

At her words, Anastasia let out a loud scream and she woke up from the dream.
